The Complete 'I'm Going to WDW' Guide

Celebrating 50 years of dreams and magic at Disney Parks all across the globe.

Make a wish, and do as the dreamers do, and all your wishes will come true! Come live your dreams during The Year of a Million Dreams, where Disney Cast Members are making your dreams come true, from little surprises, magical getaways, and for the first time ever: a stay in Cinderella's Castle. During this one-of-a-kind celebration, you can have your own dream come true when you least expect it, because here at Walt Disney World, once upon a time happens once upon a day. At this magical place, you can be given a chance to stay in Cinderella's Castle Suite, or given the chance to ride alongside your favorite Disney characters in a parade all your own, or you could even be offered a Grand Marshall Tour of all the Disney parks around the world. So during this magical year, we invite you to dream, for you never know what kind of magic lies just around the corner...

It’s back and better than ever! The Complete “I’m Going To WDW” Guide has returned again with a fresh new dreamy overlay, and now it’s even easier than ever before to find the information YOU need to know! Let’s get started!

There are some pretty awesome additions to this new version of The Complete "I'm Going to WDW" Guide - including all new information, travel reviews, more attraction bios, inside secrets, tour information, and so much more that we can hardly fit it all into one guide!

Every day, more and more members are saying they’re going to Disney World, right? Well, look no further because all the answers to your questions can be found here! It’s important to plan ahead of time, and with this guide, you’ll have the best vacation at the place where dreams come true every day.

Speaking of dream vacations, going on right now at Disney Parks around the world is the Year of a Million Dreams, a global get-together of each Disney park on the Earth celebrating the dreams of guests around the world through the magic of Disney Cast Members. It’s the biggest celebration this side of Neverland, and all the festivities are waiting for you! Exclusively for the celebration, Walt Disney World has cooked up brand new rides and attractions that you can't find anywhere else. Join Mike, Sulley, and all your favorite Monsters for comical chaos in the all new Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club, now open at the Magic Kingdom. Nemo's lost again! Hop in your own clammobile and join Marlin, Dory, and Nemo for an unforgettable adventure through colorful reefs and beautiful drop-offs, all ending in an incredible journey through the giant, man-made tanks of the Living Seas. The Seas with Nemo and Friends is now making a splash at Epcot. And all new to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Finding Nemo: The Musical. In this spectacular presention of colorful puppetry, beautiful lights, and glorious music, everyone's favorite clown fish has his story told through unique imagery, dancing lights, larger-than-life puppets and joyous music. So what are you waiting for? Go check 'em out! It’s all waiting for you during the Year of a Million Dreams!

To help you get more of an idea of what rides are for you, there are now “Mickey Icons” () icons next to each potentially intense/thrilling attraction. One Mickey Icon means the ride is less intense, while five icons means the ride is VERY intense and should be carefully considered before riding. In addition, if you see a small orange O icon next to a restaurant, attraction, or any other form of entertainment, it denotes an "Oranges's Personal Pick".

Without any further ado, I present to you the latest renovation of "The Complete 'I'm Going To WDW' Guide". My goal is to create a guide that will squeeze every last drop of magic out of your vacation, so enjoy!

Oranges has turned into a Bat and is flying aroundOranges has turned into a Bat and is flying aroundOranges has turned into a Bat and is flying around

Disney legend has it that after a freak winter storm blanketed the area with snow, Florida's first ski resort was born. When temperatures returned to normal, the powdery snow turned to slippery slush. Slalom courses, bobsled and toboggan runs became downhill waterslides. The chair lift carried swimmers instead of skiers. The ski jump became the tallest, fastest waterslide in the nation. Plunge into the chills and thrills at what is now known as Disney's Blizzard Beach, the most slushy, slippery, exhilarating beach water park anywhere! There's "snow" place like it!

Must Sees

Big Thrills!
  • Summit Plummet - Look out below! Dare to take the vertical plunge from the top of the world's tallest and fastest free-fall body slide. At an exhilarating height of 120 feet, this sky-scraping ski jump of a thrill ride drops you down the slopes of Mount Gushmore at a speed-limit-breaking 55 miles per hour for a 360-foot long trip back to the lower atmosphere. The mountain beckons — don't be a "flake."

Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-50 minutes
It is recommended you ride Summit Plummet early.

  • Slush Gusher - Speed down the 90-foot tall Mount Gushmore in a slush-banked mountain gully. Two humps create brisk fun-filled ups and downs on your journey to the bottom of the powder-capped mountain. Launch down the slopes in the shadow of Summit Plummet. There's "snow" other ride like it.

Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-30 minutes

  • Downhill Double Dipper - Shoot the tube and blast down the slopes at 25 miles per hour in these side-by-side speed slides. Hop on your inner tube and disappear into a tunnel before remerging seconds before your splashdown. These two parallel 230-foot-long racing slides are a slippery good time.

Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-40 minutes

  • Toboggan Racers - Race in one of eight side-by-side lanes that toboggan down the mountain. Hang on to your mat and head down the slopes. Exhilarating dips make your charge to the finish line an avalanche of fun. Ready. Set. Snow!

Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-30 minutes
Mild But Wild Thrills!
  • Runoff Rapids - Take your choice of three incredible inner tube rides that careen down the hill into a refreshing plunge pool. Each flume is different, so try all three! One is completely enclosed, while the others are open. All three twist and turn on tantalizing water-logged journeys down the banks of Mount Gushmore. It gushes with fun!
    (Enclosed Tube) (Open Tube)
Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-60 minutes
Note: To get to the loading area, guests must ascend numerous stairs carrying their own raft. Only one person may ride in the Enclosed Tube, whereas two can ride in the open.

  • Teamboat Springs - Bring the whole gang aboard one of the world's longest family raft rides. Twelve hundred feet of white water and rushing waterfalls make the twisting, turning journey from the top of the mountain to the bottom a giggling, screaming adventure. Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-20 minutes

Choose from one of three different downhill racing courses. Hop on your mat and compete with your friends. Meet in the plunge pool at the bottom of the course and hop out of the water to start all over again. The race is on!

Typical Summer Wait Times: 10-30 minutes
Sports, Relaxation and Recreation
  • Cross Country Creek - Kick back and "chill" in an inner tube on this gently meandering river that flows around the entire Park. Bask in the warmth of the sun. Use the Creek as a transportation system to effortlessly get from one area of the Park to the next or just ride along and watch the world drift slowly by. Go with the flow!

  • Melt-Away Bay - Take a dip in the gently bobbing waters of this bay that is fed by the melting snow run-off from Mount Gushmore. The expansive one-acre pool is great for those who want to wade in and just get their feet wet or take an invigorating swim. Pounding waterfalls make a great retreat when you really need a refreshing plunge.
Fun For Little Ones

The youngest Blizzard Beach goers can slide, splash and swim while sunning in the "snow" in this spot reserved just for them. Disney legend has it that a furious storm once roared across the sea, hurling surfboards into trees, blowing small boats through roofs and impaling a shrimp boat on a peak of a great volcanic mountain. Left in the typhoon's wake was a water park filled with twisting tides, roaring rapids, wonderful waterways and relaxing rivers. Whether you are navigating the nine exhilarating waterslides and streams or conquering one of the world's largest artificially created waves, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon promises the most wild, wonderful and wet water adventure known to man - or fish.

    Typical Summer Times: 20-70 minutes

Typical Summer Wait Times: 20-50 minutes

  • Keelhaul Falls - Take a tropical whitewater adventure as you slip and slide your way past incredibly craggy scenery in this rush of a twisting trip. Nope. Didn't copy them from anywhere. I've been to WDW so many times I pretty much memorized where everything is at. I'm also pretty creative so I could come up with some pretty catchy attraction bios.

The approximate travel time from the Orlando International Airport is 45-75 minutes. The motor coaches may make up to three (3) stops before arriving at your Resort hotel.

If you have to change your flight information before arriving at the Walt Disney World Resort, you may call the same number used to make your room reservation. While at your Resort hotel, contact your Resort hotel Front Desk for assistance.

If you did not receive your Disney's Magical Express information packet, including vouchers and luggage tags prior to leaving your home, get on your flight like normal. Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, please proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center (A side, Level 1). You do not need to claim your luggage. Disney will obtain your information, collect your luggage and deliver it to your room at your Resort hotel. At the Disney Welcome Center, you will be asked for your airline baggage claim checks and a brief description of your luggage. You will also be asked to confirm your return flight information if you are using Disney's Magical Express Service for transportation back to Orlando International Airport at the end of your stay.

It may take up to three (3) hours after you check in to your Resort hotel for your luggage to be delivered to your room. You do not need to be in your room to receive your luggage. Please pack any valuables, medications or anything you need immediately upon your arrival in Orlando in a carry-on bag.

You must check in at the Resort Airline Check-In Desk located in the lobby of select Walt Disney World® Resort hotels up to 12 hours prior to your flight departure time (but no less than three hours prior) during operating hours. A valid government issued photo ID and Key to the World Card (your hotel room key) are required to participate.
* Disney's Magical Express Service is available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests arriving at Orlando International Airport, with exception to those Guests staying at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Resort. This service is also not offered for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, Shades of Green, and the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels.

Extra Magic Hours

Each day one of the Disney Theme Parks opens an hour early or stays open up to an extra three hours after regular Park closing, so Guests of Disney Resorts have the opportunity to play more in the Parks.
  • Enjoy easy access to select attractions – even some of the most popular ones!

  • Take a relaxing mid-day break for a nap, a swim or to play golf, knowing that you have extra time for Theme Park fun. Enjoy your vacation at an easy, stress-free pace.

  • Valid Theme Park admission and Resort identification required for Extra Magic Hours at Theme Parks.

  • To get the most out of the Extra Magic Hours benefit, add the Park Hopper Option for optimal flexibility. Remember, with the Park Hopper Option, you can go from Theme Park to Theme Park on the same day.
Extra Magic Hours occur on every day (unless otherwise noted) and are at a different theme park each day. Now, each water park (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) open an hour before official park opening. Let's say that Blizzard Beach opens at nine in the morning today. If you are staying at an EMH resort, you get to come in at eight in the morning today. If a park offers Extra Magic Hours in the evening, you get to stay up to three hours after the park officially closes. This is a great time to do some of the bigger attractions.

In order to prove that you are taking advantage of the Extra Magic Hours, there are special areas around the park where you need to pick up a wristband. You MUST have each member of your family's room key to get a wristband. Without this band, you will not be able to ride any of the attractions, eat at the cafes, or shop in the stores. EMH Mornings give wristbands to you at the ticket turnstiles. EMH Evenings hand out wristbands from 7pm to 11pm.

Select attractions are open during these extra hours. Check your News, Guides, and Extras pamphlet you get when you first check into your hotel to see what rides/shows are open.

Resort Transportation

Save time and money thanks to complimentary transportation throughout Walt Disney World® Resort, including motor coaches, water taxis and the Monorail.
  • Enjoy door-to-door service that delivers you just steps from the Theme Park gates.

  • Feel free to enjoy all the fun without worrying about driving.
