Rep? Not Again!

You'd think we would have learned from previous accounts that this is not something we need. Is it really important how many green lines you have? I still don't understand why this is needed, and probably never will.

Rep is short for "Reputation".
Reputation in this site is represented by points, and points are awarded or decreased by fellow VMKFers. Your points are shown by green blocks, and you obtain more green blocks as you gain more rep points. You may also lose your points, if someone chooses to give you negative rep points.
You can see your increases and decreases of rep points in your user control panel.

It just kind of makes it like a popularity contest. I mean it's always nice to hear good things about what you post, but after a while it's more of a strive to be popular in other people's eyes.
