Still There For Me..

Valerie was a normal girl, ValPal213 on VMK.
Her life won't stay normal for long.
Read the story about how Valerie's life changed forever.

Chapter 1

Valerie logged onto VMK. It was the day VMK would close forever,
so this would be the last time she could log on. She was
lucky to see her best friend Laila online, since her
computer didn't support VMK too good. Her friend Laila
got sick very easily, and currently had a fever. Valerie
imagined her playing on her laptop in bed.

ValPal213: So this is it, VMK is closing today..
Lailee: Yeah, I guess so..
ValPal213: Wanna go play on last game of Potc?
Lailee: Sure.
*ValPal213 wins.*
Lailee: I gotta go..
ValPal213: So I guess we should say goodbye.
Lailee: Hey, don't act like it's the end of the world.
ValPal213: Why not?
Lailee: I'll still see ya at school and such.
ValPal213: True that. OK, see ya!
Lailee: Bye.
*Lailee logs off.*
VMK is closing its gates. You will now be logged off.
*ValPal213 is logged off.*

Right at that moment, Valerie's life changed. The news was on in the other
room, since her stepmother Andrea was watching it. Valerie happened to
hear, "...and the tragedy of Laila Smith is bringing everyone greif in
the Smith family. Hear what Mrs. Smith has to say, right after this."
Valerie was in shock. She sat on her bed and cried. First VMK was closing,
and now this?! Valerie then knew that it would be a rough day at school
tomorrow.

Chapter 2

Valerie was right. All day people were saying to her, "Sorry about your
friend," and "We heard about Laila." She was tired of it. And it got worse when
she came to Stephanie and Shantelle; the Devilani twins. They looked exactly
alike, they were the most popular girls in the school, and they were obnoxious.
As they saw Valerie walking by, they started to be their obnoxious, snotty selves.
"So, Shantelle, did you hear about that Laila girl?" Stephanie asked
Shantelle, purposely mking it so Valerie could hear. "Oh, yeah! That's one less poor
girl to mess with," Shantelle said, with an evil smile on her face. "I'd appreciate it if you
guys didn't talk about that..." Valerie said.

"Aww, the little baby is sad about her little friend! Are you sad to see that, Shantelle?"
"No, I'm glad to see her go, and I don't care because I'm not a little baby!"

Valerie could feel tears rolling down her cheeks. "Aww, now she's crying!"
Shantelle shouted so that everyone could hear. Valerie had been hoping that she
would never break down to the point of tears, and now it had happened. Suddenly...

WHAM!!!

Shantelle's locker door had swung open and whacked her in the head. Valerie
couldn't help but giggle. "Ow, my head!" she moaned. "Shantelle, are you alright?"
Stephanie asked.

WHAM!!!

The same thing happened with Stephanie's locker door. Now Valerie was cracking
up. "Ow, my nose!" she whined. "Valerie Parks! Whatever you did to our locker doors...
OOOH! You make me so mad!" Shantelle shouted. "It wasn't me, but I wish it had been!"
Valerie said, still laughing as she walked away. She couldn't help but think, They couldn't
have both just swung open like that... how did it happen? It was, like, a miracle or something!
Oh, I wish I knew.

And at that moment, a fortune teller's booth opened up by the bay, but Valerie didn't
come across it until after school.

Chapter 3

After school, Valerie went straight home. She sat down in her computer chair
and started to type in www.vmk.com, but then she remembered that VMK had closed.
She cried again, since everything in her life was disappearing. Then Andrea walked in.
"Why the long face, Val?" she asked. "Everything in my life is disappearing! VMK's
gone--" Valerie was cut off by Andrea who said, "Oh, cheer up, it's just a stupid
website." Valerie was very angry.

"It's not only the website!"
"Huh?"
"You remember on the news when they were talking about that girl Laila Smith?"
"Yeah, but what's that got to do with--"
"Well, guess what? She was my best friend! AND NOW SHE'S GONE, TOO!"

Valerie hated to yell at Andrea, but she just didn't get it. "Look, I'm sorry
for yelling, but I am just really upset," Valerie said. Andrea didn't say anything.
She just glared at her. "If you need me, I'll be swimming at the bay," Valerie
said. She grabbed her coat and walked out the door.

Valerie walked to the bay. When she got there, she saw the fortune
teller's booth. "Hello? Is anyone in here?" Valerie asked as she walked into
the booth. "Come, turn around, know where I am..." someone said. Valerie
turned around to see a girl with long, flowing, brown hair. She was wearing a
small, bejeweled top with a long, purple skirt. "I am Gypsy Alena, and I
can read your fortune. Would you care for a free fortune?" Gypsy Alena asked.
"Sure," Valerie said. "OK, give me your hands, and look into the crystal ball.
I shall read your fortune aloud," Gypsy Alena said. Valerie did just that. "Now
tell me what you see..." Alena whispered. "I see, umm, a pair of wings, a fish,
and..." Valerie stopped what she was saying when a picture of Laila came into
the crystal ball. "Go on..." Gypsy Alena whispered. "And my best friend," she
finished. "Now I can read your fortune," Gypsy Alena said.

"You will be awakened!!!
You will be visited!!!
She has been with you before!!!
Helped you out in your time of need!!!
She has had her time on Earth!!!
But she couldn't save herself!!!
She is someone you can trust to watch over you!!!
Always shall she be with you!!!
Until it is your time to go!!!
Then it shall be brought unto you!!!"

Then Gypsy Alena disappeared. Valerie ran as fast as
her legs could carry her. She decided to forget about what Gypsy Alena had
said and go for a swim. As soon as she began to swim, something pulled her
underwater and she couldn't swim up. Just as Valerie was about to run out of air,
something grabbed her hands and pulled her up to safety. When she looked up,
she couldn't believe her eyes.

Chapter 4

It was Laila.

Laila looked like herself, but yet, so different. She didn't look sick at all.
She had on a white gown with a blue glow. She had big, beautiful,
blue wings. Her hair wasn't the dirty blonde color anymore. It was pure golden. Her big blue eyes
were showing an extra sparkle. And she was floating from above the ground.
She looked like an angel. It was all falling into place. The fortune teller's booth,
Gypsy Alena, the weird fortune; it was all from the angels. This was all falling into
place!

Valerie passed out.

When Valerie was still unconsious, she had a dream. In her dream,
Laila appeared. She still looked like an angel. She said something to her:

"Valerie, I am calling to you.
This is Laila.
I have come to visit you.
I can protect you.
I am glad you are finally realizing what is going on.
I am glad you know who I am.
I would like to let you know that I am here.
I would like to go on an adventure with you.
We can get revenge on all the people who were bad to us.
We can taste victory.
I know you dislike Stephanie and Shantelle.
We can show them defeat.
But first, you have to wake up.
Valerie, this was your calling."

Valerie woke up, and Laila was gone. So she went home. When she
got home, Valerie ran up to her room. She was shocked ot see that Laila was
in her room. "I've been waiting for you. Did you get my message?" Laila asked.
"I, I..." Valerie stuttered. "Good, so are you ready?" Laila asked. "Ready for
what?" Valerie asked. "Revenge. Apparently, you didn't listen to the message
very well, because I specifically said---" Laila was cut off by Valerie who said
"OK, OK, but first, can I ask you a few questions?" Valerie asked. Laila was
angry. She shocked Valerie with some electrticity. "Ow! What was that for?"
Valerie asked. "Valerie, don't interrupt me when I'm talking to you," Laila
said. Valerie rolled her eyes. Even when Laila was still alive, she always hated
that. "Now what were those questions?" Laila asked.

"How did you, you know, if i had just talked to you on VMK the day it happened?"
Valerie asked. "My mother just said those things to make you feel better about
the situation. She never knew you would hear about it on the news. In fact, she
didn't even know it would be on the news," Laila explained. "Oh, I see... and
were you the one who made the locker doors swing open and hit Stephanie and
Shantelle?" Valerie asked. Laila giggled. "Yeah, that was me," she said. "Good
one!" Valerie said. "Yeah, it was the beginning of my plan," Laila said. "What
plan? Am I missing something?" Valerie asked. She was very confused. "The
plan! you know, Operation: R.E.V.E.N.G.E," Laila said. "What are you talking
about?" Valerie asked. Laila giggled. Valerie was never very smart.

"Valerie, R.E.V.E.N.G.E stands for...

Really.
Extreme.
Vengance.
Everlasting.
Never.
Goes-Away.
Episodes-Of-Getting-Back-At-Someone!

Didn't you know that?" Laila asked. After a moment of silence, all Valerie
could say was, "...nuh-uh!" Laila giggled. "OK, so all that means is that you and
I are going to get revenge on everyone who's been bad to us, but we'll save the best
for last," Laila explained. "Oh, so we'll do Stephanie and Shantelle last, then,"
Valerie said. "No... I meant DeLiza," Laila said. "Who's DeLiza?" Valerie asked.

"Oh, I forgot, you haven't been up there yet," Laila said as she pointed up.
"DeLiza Crualle is a nasty girl. She lived in this town and was gone 12 years ago. I was told
by Amelia Earheart that she was a mainiac," Laila explained. "Woah woah woah, you met
Amelia Earheart?" Valerie asked. "Yeah, yeah, she's very nice. Now as soon as Amelia told me
she was a maniac, DeLiza comes up behind me with a knife and threatens to get rid of
my spirit. If I didn't run away and come down here on Earth, I wouldn't have been
talking to you right now. My spirit would be gone. Then when I came down here,
I saw you trapped underwater and gave you a hand. I knew it would soon begin,"
Laila explained. "What would begin?" Valerie asked. "The plan! Now we'll start
first thing tomorrow. See you at school," Laila said.

She was about to leave when Valerie asked, "Wait! How will I know when
you're there?" Laila rolled her eyes. "Oh, trust me, you'll know," Laila said. She was
about to leave again when Valerie asked, "Oh, and one more thing! What does DeLiza
Crualle look like?" Laila thought for a moment. "DeLiza Crualle has midnight black hair, evil
purple eyes, and a smile that sends shivers up your spine. She normally wears black,"
Laila explained. Valerie was a bit creeped out by this description. "Oh, and don't worry,
you won't meet her until it's time to get revenge on her," Laila said. Valerie let out a
breath of relief. "I hope..." Laila whispered under her breath. "You hope what?" Valerie
asked. "SEE YOU AT SCHOOL!" Laila shouted. Then she disappeared in thin air.
She left Valerie with 3 things unanswered:

1. What is this 'Operation: R.E.V.E.N.G.E' really all about?
2. How would Valerie know when Laila was with her?
3. What did she mean by, "I hope...."?

Chapter 5

The next day at school, Valerie walked into the girl's bathroom, only to see
Gypsy Alena. "EEEEEP!" Valerie shrieked. Shh, shh... nobody else can know I'm
here..." Gypsy Alena whispered. "But, but, but you disappeared in thin
air when you gave me the fortune and now---" Valerie's stutters were cut off by Gypsy
Alena who said, "No, no! It's me! Laila! I'm in her body! I can change into your body, too!"
Laila said as she changed form to look like Valerie. "Woah! But how?" Valerie asked. "It's
one of those things only angels can do," Laila explained. "Oh... so what do you want to do
first?" Valerie asked. "Well, I've always wanted to do this..." Laila said as she changed into
the form of their teacher, Miss Burns. She walked up to Miss Burns and watched as she
screamed and ran away. Laila changed back to Valerie form and whispered, "That's for giving
me that D on the Geology project." Valerie giggled. In school, Laila was the smartest kid in
the class, and on a Geology project, Miss Burns gave her a D, and she was very angry.

"I got my first victim, now who did you have in mind?" Laila asked Valerie. "Hmm...
I want to get Stephanie and Shantelle for making me cry in front of the whole school," Valerie
said. "You want to do this one?" Laila asked. "Can I? I mean, I'm not an, uhh..." Valerie said.
"An angel?" Laila asked. "Yeah," Valerie said. "It's OK, think of something to do to them," Laila
said. "Oh... I GOT IT! Laila, is there any way you can put your powers into me?" Valerie asked.
"Yeah! Just put your hands together..." Laila started as she turned invisible. Stephaine and
Shantelle had walked into the girl's bathroom. "Still talking to yourself?" Stephaine asked. "Wow,
you're a mess! Do we care, Stephanie?" Shantelle asked. "Nope!" Stephanie said. They both giggled
their evil little giggles. "No, just, uh... cracking my knuckles," Valerie said as she started to crack
her knuckles. "Yeah, right! Loser..." Stephaine said. "Yeah, loser!" Shantelle said. Laila was
shocked. "How did she know she had to crack her knuckles next?" she asked herself. She stayed
invisible and flew up to Valerie's ear. "Now say, 'Lemonade!' Do it!" Laila whispered. "Lemonade!"
Valerie said. "Lemonade? Who said anything about WOAAAAAAAH! SHANTELLE!" Suddenly,
Stephanie began to lift off the ground. But where was she headed? Only Valerie knew. A stall door
opened up, and Stephanie was dunked in the toilet! "AUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!" Stephanie shrieked.
"Stephanie, are you OK?" Shantelle asked. "Does it look like I'm OK?!" Stephanie asked fiercely.
"Um.. no EWWWWWW!" A ton of the beans from the lunch in the cafeteria were poured all over
Shantelle! It was like they fell out of the sky! Stephanie and Shantelle both ran out of the girl's bathroom,
in utter shock.

Chapter 6

"Wow! I can't believe you knew what to do before I told you!" Laila exclaimed as she made
sure she was visible. "H, h... how did I do that?" Valerie asked. "Just how you wanted to! You put
some of my powers into you!" Laila exclaimed.

"I did?"
"Yeah! You wanted to, right?"
"Yeah, but---"
"And anyways, it's almost time."
"Time for what?"
"To defeat DeLiza Crualle."
"But how can I? I have no magic. I'm no angel."
"Not yet, anyway..."
"What do you mean?"

Then the bell rang. Valerie watched as Laila disappeared. Valerie wondered what would
happen the next day, but she had no idea it would be her last day on Earth.

On the next morning, Valerie found out that she wasn't in her room. She was
sitting on a cloud. She was having memories of everything of her life that drifted away.

"Goodnight, Valerie..."
"Goodnight, daddy!"
"I can't. I gotta go."
"Lemonade!"
"I have come to protect you, Valerie."
"AND THEN YOU SHALL BE AN ANGEL, TOO!"

Valerie woke up and screamed at the top of her lungs. Laila rushed over and asked,
"What is wrong?!"

"Didn't you hear me?! I screamed at the top of my lungs!"
"No, you just screamed."
"AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!"
"But you don't have lungs!"
"...what?!"
"Because you're, well... " Laila pointed up.

Valerie passed out.

When she when she woke up from passing out, Valerie was on her back, looking at
Laila, who was sitting at a table with one empty chair. On the table was a crystal ball. "Come sit,
Val," she said. When Valerie sat down, the crystal ball began to glow red. "Where did you get this thing?"
Valerie asked.
"Gypsy Alena."
"Oh."
"Now look inside!"

Inside the crystal ball was a picture of Valerie sleeping quietly in her bed, and then Laila peered
in the window. She flew into the room, lifted out Valerie's spirit, and left.

"You, you, you brought me here?!" Valerie asked. "No, I just took out your spirit so you can join me in
defeating DeLiza, becoming an angel, taking over the skies, and never seeing anyone on Earth ever
again.," Laila explained. "....which is basically bringing me here!" Valerie shouted.
"Ssssssssh! You'll wake up Albert!" Laila whispered as she pointed to a sleeping Albert
Einstien.

Chapter 7

"I, I won't ever see Alexa, or, Andrea---" Valerie was interrupted by Laila who said, "Don't fret!
Someday soon, Andrea will be up here, too!"
"Why?"
"You know! She's very very sick! She just doesn't show it when you're around."
"What?! She never told me!!"
"Because she didn't want you to worry."
"But she tells me everything!"
"Well, not everything... so are you ready?"
"For what?"
"MAUAHAHAHA!"

Laila and Valerie's conversation was interrupted by an evil "MUAHAHAHAHA!" coming from, you guessed
it; DeLiza Crualle. Laila and Valerie turned quickly around to see DeLiza putting someone in a sack, but all you could
see of the person was her stiletto heels. "I know those shoes... ANDREA!!!" Valerie yelled. Andrea looked so much older.
"Oh, you've done it now! RUN!!!" Laila shouted as she and Valerie ran as fast as their feet could carry them. "There's no running from
DELIZA CRUALLE!" DeLiza shouted as she turned into a dragon and caught up with them. Luckily, Valerie and Laila found a
nice, big cloud to hide behind. "How are we supposed to get her off the face of existence?! I'm not even an angel!" Valerie
whispered. "Val, look at you; you're gorgeous!" Laila whispered. Valerie looked at herself; Laila was right, she was goregous.
She had a white mini dress with rainbow butterfly wings. Her hair was shorter, but she liked it.

"So, face the truth; we can do anything. We can change form! We can face evil! We can bring people back to life!"
Laila said. Valerie suddenly got an idea that would change her life forever. "Can... can we bring my dad back to life...?" she
asked. "Sure! But not until we beat DeLiza," Laila said. "Oh, and earlier, when you said you wouldn't see Alexa ever again,
were you talking about Alexa Flynn from Chemistry?" Laila asked. "Yeah, we were, like, BFF, other than you and I," Valerie said.
"Oh, great..." Laila said. "I'm still your B---" Valerie was interrupted by Laila who said, "No, she got taken up here by DeLiza.
She's a servant to DeLiza. Now she's Devila Flynn, I guess," Laila explained. "Oh, poor Alexa! What is she doing to her?!"
Valerie asked. "Well, look in DeLiza's scepter..." Laila said. Valerie looked in DeLiza's scepter to see nobody but Alexa dressed
in all red and black, assumingly what DeLiza dressed her in. For some odd reason, it seemed that Alexa was her source of power.
"Wait, so if she's DeLiza's source of power, when we defeat her, Alexa's going to... she's going to..." Valerie said as she started to cry.
"I'm sorry, Val, but we have to do it or DeLiza's going to put the world in peril," Laila said.

Chapter 8

"Ready for this, Val? It's time to step up," Laila said. "Wait, how do I fight?" Valerie asked. "All you have to do is think of
what you want to do to her, and then do it!" Laila explained. "...that's it?" Valerie asked. "Yep! Now let's do it!" Laila said. "DeLiza Crualle,
we're calling you out!" Valerie and Laila said as they jumped out from behind the cloud. "CALLING ME OUT?! I THINK NOT!!!" DeLiza shouted
as she stunned Laila with an electricity shock. Valerie knew she had to do something. She couldn't burn her with fire because she was a dragon,
so she shot an ice ray at her and froze her tail. Suddenly, DeLiza's tail broke off. "Keep at it, Val!" a shocked Laila said. Valerie kept freezing all of the
dragon's body parts, and ended with the head. As soon as DeLiza dissapeared, the scepter began to lose form. Valerie ran over to it to say goodbye
to Alexa. "Alexa! Don't leave!" Valerie shouted, but since she was inside the scepter, she didn't hear her, and waved bye as the scepter disappeared.

Now that DeLiza seized to exist, Laila and Valerie could take places as the Princesses Of The Sky. They forgot to bring Valerie's
father back to life, and they never saw Alexa or Andrea again, but they lived a happy ending, flying in the clouds.
