I know there's lots of Animal Crossing fans on these forums, and I'm here to help!
1. Shakey!!!
The most common method of getting bells is shaking trees. If you encounter a bees' hive, run by pushing B/L to the nearest house!
2. My Pockets Are Full
The next thing to do is sell stuff. You can only do this if you aren't working for Tom Nook. You should sell :
Useless items ( Not fossils! )
Shells ( Found on the beach )
etc.
3. When in Doubt, Take the Shovel Out!
We dig, dig, dig, dig, and mine the whole way through! Use the above methods to buy a shovel at Nook's. Here are ways to use shovels to get bells :
3a. Bells Underground
Dig and you might find bells. As simple as that.
3b. Golden Spots and Money Tree
When you find a golden spot, dig there and you will get 1,000 bells. Once you get them, bury them back into the spot to get a money tree. 1,000 pennies saved is 3,000 pennies earned.
3c. rocky Balboa has Bells
No, he doesn't. But a rock in your town has bells. ( Not 2 rocks stuck together! ) Approach a rock with your shovel. Next, whack it with your shovel. ( A certain rock has it, and only one. ) Then, it will turn red and 100 bells will pop out. ( Don't stop and pick them up, or you can't do it and you have to wait the next day! ) Keep going until it doesn't make bells, then pick them up.
3d. ( Ha ha! ) It's In the Museum
Now you know why you don't sell the fossils. When you dig one up, make a letter to the museum ( Farway Museum, actually ) and attach a fossil to it. It will be sent back and, if it's already in the museum, follow the second method with it.
4. If Only He Knew
It was a nice Winter morning, and this guy that built an igloo asked me for bells and to give me 1,000 more plus mine if he beat a game against him. Look for villagers and challenge them to a game.
5. Give me a Million for a Job
You already know this one. ( You might get an item. Just sell it if you don't like it. )

Oh i've never seen those. And the bell making guide works! Now my house has three floors... But the mortgage is 580,000.... WAAA!!!

Small update : You can only challenge villagers to games when they're in an igloo.
