Idea...

Hey mods... I just came up with a good idea. What if on your birthday you got a birthay saying Happy Birthday! --- insert year here ---
Then, on December 31st, reset all of the badges!

On your birthday, I believe you get an e-mail wishing you a happy birthday and there is also a banner across the top of the forums that states: Happy Birthday from VMKForums!, or something of the sort. As for the badges, resetting them would take time. Users earn the badges, so, in my opinion, they should be able to keep them.

That would stink for the people who have birthdays in December - they would only have theirs for a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if by badges you mean awards, but if you do I would disagree with that. First of all, I don't see a point in getting an award for having a birthday. Knowing the day when you were born doesn't seem like too great of an accomplishment to me. Also, like Polar said, December birthdays would have their awards for much less time than January birthdays which of course would be unfair. Additionally, getting attention for your birthday should be optional. People can make threads on their birthdays in order to get the birthday recognition that they desire if they want to; it shouldn't be forced upon every member.

Not everyone chooses to reveal their birthday as well, so it would be completely unfair to award people who decide to give out certain personal information.
