If you are sure you're not running any other antivirus, try AVG or Avast. They're both free. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download...virus/us/frt/0 Choose the button on the right that says free. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html Avast is also good. Only choose one! Two antivirus programs will cancel each other out! Also, only set one up if you KNOW there is no other antivirus program on your system. |

Is your subscription to Norton expired? If the subscription is still running, then you are safe. I would uninstall Ad-Aware, but that's your choice if you want to keep it or not.

Yes, I think it expired. I searched my computer to see if I had it and nothing came up. I'm gonna uninstall Ad-Aware. Which program that you posted above would you use?

If you will never use Norton again, you can uninstall it. Sometimes upgrading Norton and it's subscription are cheaper if you have it installed already, so uninstalling it would mean buying the full version rather than the discount upgrade if you ever choose Norton again.
If you do decide to uninstall Norton, both programs are great. Review the features of both and choose the one you like best. Note that you will need to find a firewall too if you uninstall Norton. If you want a premium firewall/antivirus bundle, you could buy Kaspersky or renew your Norton subscription. |

Im looking more into that C++ runtime, it could be a couple of things happening. WHen exactly does it pop up and what are you doing when it does?
For the Antivirus...you can have all the programs you want but dont run them together, one after another is fine. Dont worry about Norton at all and run AVG(either paid or free)as your antivirus and recommend getting ZoneAlarm as your firewall(same trial or paid). I run both as the 24/7 security and scan at start ups with adaware and never had a problem and finds all bad stuff through out the comp and in the cookies(where problems start) |

EDIT: I got Avast, and it works great! It notifies you when something affects your computer, and you can easly delete it. Last edited by BelieveNTheMagic; 07-25-2007 at 10:30 PM.. |
