A key point in Disney animated movies is to start of with a tragedy, losing a parent must have been brought up a couple times. Look at every Disney animated movie and see if there is not a tragedy in the beginning. Tell me if you know one.

oh yeah lol and like in pirates of the caribbean, elizabeth has her dad (into in potc1), will has his dad (intro in potc2), and jack has his dad (intro in potc3)...

Hmm... sometimes I think they only give them one parent just to make a 'My Mother/Father died when I was only two. *cries and sad music comes on*' kinda scene.

Theoretically this doesnt make sense. Every character has two parents. Without two parents there would be no child. Odds are 1 died, they divorced, etc.
