S.O.S - The Diary Of Red Bennett


Imagine being stranded on an island all alone. You have no food, no water, and no weapons. All you have is the
clothes that you're wearing, and an empty book. You would have to face the wilderness. Red Bennett, an
average 14 year old, will have to live that life. When his boat sank, and he floated on the beach, his life changed
forever. This is his story.


(WRITER'S NOTE: This took place in the year 2004, before any of the VMKF even met the Bennett family.)

Day 1

My name is Red Bennett. I wasn't going to start writing into this, but now, I've really got no choice. Wait a
minute, what am I thinking? I'm all alone...oh, whatever!! As I was saying, I'm Red Bennett, and I am stuck here,
on this island. My cousins Sam (age 12), Mary (age 1), and Margo (age 4), were on a vacation. I decided to go
on a boat ride, and was stubborn and wouldn't bring the emergency bell on my boat when Sam, my worrywart
of a cousin, told me to. When it sunk, nobody could come and help me out because they couldn't hear me. Oh,
how I hate myself right now. Oh...well, I can't let that get to me. I have to do something, or I'll never even last
through my first day here. I'll write in you again once I figure out what I'm gonna do. For now, I am off.

Day 1 - Part 2

Well, it's me again. Red Bennett. I found a lot of wood and vines, so I'm going to try and build a raft. Please note
that I said 'try'. My Aunt Gretchen and Uncle William always said that I could never be a handyman, so I'm going
to do my best. As of now, I am going to look for some food. I mean, every island has some source of food
somewhere, somehow. Hopefully, I shall be successful, so wish me luck. I tried to find water earlier, since ocean
water isn't good to drink. Even if I do find water, I'll have to figure out a way to boil it first. Uncle William told me
to never drink water that you just found somewhere, and I'm sticking to it. After all, I want to live. But I can't
spend all of my time writng if I want to live, so, I am off once again.
