What kind of books are you into?
If you're into mystery books, I recommend Cross by James Patterson or Wanted by Caroline B. Cooney. Or maybe even Face on the Milk Carton (series) by Caroline B. Cooney. If you're into romance books, I recommend Twilight by Stephenie Meyer or The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. If you're into a good book that really has no way to describe it, try Notes of a Midnight Driver

I would say Twilight(Awesomest book ever!), but you said not to say that, so...umm...
I really don't know that many books that fit into horror or adventure that are really good. xD |

If you're a fan of Disneyland, I highly recommend Mouse Tales by David Koenig.
I also recommend (if you enjoy Fantasy): The Wind Singer by William Nicholson The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman If you're really into horror, R.L. Stine has some great stuff out there besides his Goosebumps books. He actually has written works for all ages. Edit: Ha ha, I just noticed your custom title so I guess you are quite familiar with his books. I have read pretty close to everything of his and even as an adult, I still don't mind picking up a Goosebumps and having an awesome quick read. A fan will never grow tired of a good scary story. Unfortunately, he has written very few adult novels and I have read all but one. I'm sort of saving it because once I've read it...the fun is over. The books I have recommended fit in the young adult sort of category but if you read adult books, then I highly recommend Dean Koontz as his thriller/horror material is pretty great stuff. Obviously Stephen King is terrific too, with many classics under his belt. Happy reading!

Immortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare is an awesome series. I think there is City of Bones and City of Ashes, and City of Glass is coming out soon.. Don't quote me on that, though..
Maximum Ride by James Patterson is AWESOME too (: |
