Are you kidding me? (iTunes)

So, it said I had an update available for the iPod Touch. I updated it. It crashed.

ALL of my apps (including the ones I've paid for) are gone. And now it's in recovery mode, and I'm afraid to restore it.

What do I do? The iPod is acting as if it's brand new.

HELP!!!!!!
