You must be remembering different staff than I am.
I remember Yavn showing off magic, but never saying when it was to be released. (Or saying when... and still not seeing it 2 years later.)
I remember staff being in public rooms, and us reporting bugs, and the staff admitting they had no idea when, or if, they would be fixed. If they answered you at all, that was.
