Reputation Info.

Due to a lot of questions being asked about the reputation system on VMKForums, I have decided to re-write an old guide by someone called "Acelollipop" who did it in 2005. This is the guide I have linked people to for every question asked, it's just very out-dated now due to recent changes. The old thread can be found here.

About Reputation:
Reputation is there to let users know that you appreciated their posts. This could be for helpful posts, informative or funny posts which you think deserve some recognition.

The more reputation you have, the higher your rep power. The more rep power, the more effective it will be on other users when you rep them. Someone with no rep will make no difference to the repped persons total, yet someone with a high rep power will have more of an effect when they give reputation.

How to give and view Reputation:
You can give someone reputation by clicking the button which reads REP (next to the report button, it looks like this - http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...reputation.gif). From there, you can type in a message explaining why you think that post deserves credit. By clicking "Add to Reputation", it is submitted. However, remember the person who you sent rep to will NOT know it is from you unless you say so in your comment. You can view rep you have recieved from other people by going to your User CP. There are two boxes - one showing recieved, and another showing given.

Remember, asking for reputation is against the VMKForums rules, so if you want to bump up your points, make some good posts!

Reputation icons (comment box):
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...tation_pos.gif - This means someone liked your post and you have recieved more reputation points.
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...tation_off.gif - This means the rep-giver's reputation is turned off and no points are added.

Reputation icons (posts):
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...on_highneg.gif - High Negative - (The only person with this is EKB)
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...tation_neg.gif - Negative
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...tation_off.gif - This users reputation is turned off.
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...on_balance.gif - Balanced reputation
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...tation_pos.gif - Positive reputation
http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/imag...on_highpos.gif - High Positive reputation

Due to users being able to give negative reputation in the past, some people still have negative stars on their posts.

When hovering over a users stars, you will notice there is a little message, the message changes the more reputation you have.
Here they are, starting from the lowest rep. The number is the lowest amount of reputation points you need for that level. Thanks Batleth!

You can find out the amount of reputation points you have by visiting the "Latest Reputation Recieved" box.
On a side note - you need 100 rep points to get your second star.
There you go, feel free to PM me any questions, or post here.

Thanks,
Stitch.
