How to Make Outlined Transparent Text on GIMP

Okay, this is a tutorial for all those who want to know how to outline text on GIMP. Its fairly simple, and the results are always good.

Step 1.

Open up a new, blank document in GIMP. Make it transparent, too. I make mine 400X200, but you can make it whatever you like. It should look like this:

Step 2.

Go to the text tool and select the size, font, and color of your text. Then write it out. When your done, press enter right before the first letter and the go down to it and press space. It'll make the word not get cut off. It should look something like this:

Step 3.

Okay, now in the text tool thing, press Path from Text. Then go to Select>From Path. Your text should have a white outline around it. It should look like this:

Step 4.

Now, go to Select>Grow. A box should come up. Put 3 in the first box. Leave the second one alone. Then go to the Blend Tool and make the mode Behind. then select the colors you want to use for your outline. MAKE SURE THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. Then just pull the tool accross the text and there ya go, Transparent Outlined text! Then from here, press Select>None, merge down, and crop it. It should look like this:

Hope everything worked out for ya! And remember to post your results!

I'm pretty sure I did it right...
I just can't figure out how to put a background on it.

With this theres not supposed to be a background on it. It's suppose to be transparent. And I think you forgot to crop it.
