Those were the good times. I remember when there were teleporter rides before ride pieces were made. Oh and the dreaded times before vmk pass.

I remember a long time ago, when they only allowed 50 people in line for the room, and you had to keep clicking and going back to try to be one of the 50 people in line for the rooms. Luckily the VMK Pass came. ;)

Yeah, I remember those times... makes me miss them. I liked the old games much better (fireworks 'specially), when hardly anyone was online, the testers that just walked around as they pleased, the magic of it all. I joined in May 2005 and then re-joined in October 2005. I had Snow White hair, lol xD

Now it just seems kinda commercial :/ But it's still fun.

Yeah, I remember the Halloween lines in '05. Gosh, those were horrible!! And I remember when there were like 200 people online at once. Recently, I've seen up to 8000!

I miss these days. These were truly the magical days. I felt like I really was at disneyland because I didn't have to worry how rich I was or how many credits I have to get. It was the perfect world. I'll try to dig up some of my beta pictures later.

it was not that good more bugs and peoples behaviour was the same where do you think the taken thing came from? -_- and heh i remember when one of the mods here got loads of people into one skull rock room and i remember the treasure island room :D heh once i was there and a staff asked me and my friends if they could take a picture :D

Yeah, good times. I joined VMK like a month after it opened and I sure do miss the Spell Room in Discovery Island and in there was one in the castle I think? That was always the next room after the dragon's dungeon. Haha I remember when Pirates didn't cost a thing to play. Miss that a lot : ) Remember when Catch the Flag came out, everybody thought that that was the big thing! And the bird hats! People were desperate for the bird hats!

It must of been cool! Lol, I wasn't playing VMK back then.

I remember that! Hey look, SpinMarty is in second place for Castle Fireworks.

I remember when I made VMK out of ice cubes...and a staff member was ina person's room and I asked if she could come to my room, and she did. I think it was VMK_Zoo? Not really sure though. We chatted for a while, and I actually asked if I thought I could win Best Guest with it. It was just VMK made out of ice, rofl!

oh the good o' days remember when green flips were on sale and u would run into the same person in every room and it easier to get the tomorrowland quest life was easy back then when they showed the little movie clip

I remember how you would be able to use pirate costume magic, burried in treasure magic, and cursed storm magic at discovery island. But hen after your avatar was done using them, it would walk the plank and end up in the iant skull cave. Lol

I was debating whether I should buy blue flips or green flips. I ended up buying blue and that was the worst thing I ever did on vmk. I miss seeing my friends that were on too. Well, everyone was your friend back then. Missing the vmk Beta days <333.

I have a few pics of what I used to look like when I joined.

I joined late after beta (Januarary of '06) but I do remember some things, like the spell room, and Discovery Island. I also remember when tomorrowland only had the shop and the hub. And the day when the quests, and the new rooms were added, I remember the lag, it was crazy!

I'll post some of the pictures I have in my room shortly of what I used to look like. :)

I miss the Potion Room too...

When I was looking through the Wiki to remember the old times, I found that Maleficent was in the Potion room. :)

Its sad to see that all of those beta memories are now just memories... If only we could go back in time :(

Maybe VMK should have a room called " Memories " and it has all pictures of beta days, potion room, Discovery Island, etc.

I remember when I could get over 1,200 credits for one fireworks game - oh, those were the days! LOL Gone are the days of "auto pilot" for that game! Shucks! I didn't play for months when they remixed the game :( Not so bad now, just not 1,200 credits every time.:vgrin:

Though I was not around during beta, I joined really only a week or two after VMK officially opened, so I came pretty close. Though I strongly disliked the dis-connect monster, I do miss those days. Taken seemed a necesity in VMK life to everyone and that I must say was wrong in my personal opinion. Back then, VMK was just for the enjoyment, and not always for the competitions and events they had. Events were meant to be there to be an enjoyment instead of just your typical day in VMK, and there were some room contests. It seems some things have changed in VMK, but if you dive deep within it, it is the same.

I do have to say I do miss the Spell Room. I just loved that room. The Discovery Island was wonderful and all but I do miss the Spell Room. I just loved that room. The preview of all the magics we wanted and watched eventually roll out, especially that mysterious magic carpet magic :vcry:

I joined VMK a little late. Around thanksgiving time of 06. But I did get to see the discovery island and the spell room.
They should have a special day where they open Dicovery Island and Spell Room for a day or a week. That would be awesome.

I remember my first account was an actual name "Nicholas". I found my account details and tried to log in, but couldn't. I message Contact Us and they told me: "Since your account was inactive, your account was deleted. You should have logged in 1 day before you tried to logged in." I was really sad. I was 1 day late :(!

But one year ago wasn't really different then VMK is now.

There were no old days to me, although I think for others there were. VMK used to be about being able to be with everyone and now there are ' groups. ' If your not part of that group, your not welcome. Like in a game of pirates, your not our partner, your not playing. I think that a lot of the recent, newer players ( NOT ALL ) are making the game different by stretching the rules a bit, and finding ways to get away with things.

Was a trader, still a trader. I have had close friends, still have them. I have made new friends though of course. :)

But other then that, the new days are the old days.

I played RuneScape at the time, and my cousin referred me to VMK.
I joined, I thought it was confusing and dumb, so I left.

Well, Since someone mentioned it I thought I would post that room picture with everybody in it. Yes, It was the great Mr.Genie whose room everybody packed into including the vmk staff. I think we also brought down the system and they fixed that bug pretty quickly LOL he he...

people make so many of these kind of threads instead of the good ol' days vs. today. It should be stuff to be brought back cool stuff then whats cool now
I think of it as reflecting back. Sure I probably speak for a lot of people but alot of that stuff then was real cool and sure it would be great to see returns but we won't at this point in the game.

I've been on sicne day 1 and I long for the past too. It's so interesting to look at what's happened. Remember how there wasn't new cool things happening every week? or every month for that matter. Vmk was just vmk. I actually talked to yavn on a few occasions and other testers. everything just seemed smaller and more personal. now look, there are new things happening all the time and yavn and the testers have become REAL celebrities, you know the kind you never EVER see and now he communicates through the newsletter. vmk has made it to the big leagues now!

Ha , I remember being in that packed room. That was sure a fun bug xD

the 'great room cram' was amazing... i wish i had saved the screenshot i took in my old cp: as more people got into the room, they started growing smaller! and since mr.genie kept going back in and out, people didn't have to wait to get in.

i was one of the stubborn ones who kept using magic, lol.

For reason, I was not part of the Genie's room filling event; but I do remember hearing about later that night in chat. I also remember seeing a picture of it in a tiki room. Did he have it going on in several rooms? Or just switch to the Skull Rock because it's bigger? Or is my mind that forgetfull that I confused a Tiki Room with a Skull Rock? lol

There are more things that pop out in this picture, though. This is not a beta picture because there are space suits and sorceror hats in it which were not released until the weekend including July 17, 2005 (the DLR 50th Celebration). Which was after beta ended. I always thought that the room filling thing was in beta. But I guess time blends together from those early months. However, it can't be too much after that date.

Additionally, right in the front, are 2 pairs of green flips (and at least two others partially visible in the crowd). They would have been retired by this point, but nobody knew the inpact or the value that they would bring.

Finally, on a personal note, it's odd to see so many faces that even after 2 years, I can still recognize. Many of them have either changed their character, styles or have simply vanished into thin air.

I was browsing the guest rooms, and I saw a room that said, Try My Ride!! I was like, hmm, a ride? Cool!

I walked in, and there were just a bunch of chairs lined up in some sort of formation, and there were palm trees every which way...:Question:

hehe, I was sort of confused as to how it was a ride..lol

And then when you would be behind a lot of people, sometimes someone's computer would freeze, and then the whole ride would be "stopped" until that person would leave or something..haha


Those were fun times indeed, too bad I missed beta by 3 days..haha

Well that seemed like an interesting experience. I haven't been on vmk for as long as beta times and times like those but i do know that vmk wasn't so complicated and things were probably more calm without the girls long hair people wouldn't be strutting around hairstyles acting more popular than others.

Yeah, i miss the spell room. ppl that didn't have inferno, bat magic, fireworks, invisibility, and teleportation magic could use it. then the discovery island room was awesome, ppl could use pirate magic and there was also that contest to get vmk magic in Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, and Rice Krispes Boxes. there was also Push Trivia instead of Esmeralda. Push is 10x better at trivia then her! then there was also push walking around vmk. and inferno used to be Mega Rare. and now it a lot less rarer. Yavn speaks used to be different every wednesday.

The good things about today. There is vmk pass so we can have fun while we wait in line. there's Ned's shop news so we don't have to search every room to look for new stuff. then there are also ride tracks and ride-a-thons and ride contests. but i REALLY miss the old VMK :(

Yes!! And then we started yelling and trying to get owner to boot. And if you wanted to make a ride without moving through chairs, you go in a boat teleporter and your character steps off to another teleporter.

You also don't see many maze games because if you click one teleporter you see the matching pair.

My favorite rooms in the old days were Discorey Island (where you would grab the ceral and then test the buried in treause, pirate costume, and cursed storm) and the Spell Room (where you would grab potion and go up to some kind of magic like inferno or flying carpet,etc. and you would use it once) the good ol days and also Push would walk around!!! and yavn would do a thing every wed or mon and in the old pirates game castles would shoot and you and you would burn them to the ground, and and i could go on forever...

I know it's not that long ago, that VMK "detinated" the CL_ Program.
But a weird fact of mine..

I REALLY miss the good ol' days now. The days before HSM.. Bad Halloweens.. I remember when Tomorrowland and Frontierland didn't even exisit. Then, the flood of new players game around the middle of 06'. We should write a song about the good times we had!

It was about 2 years ago. Had many magic nice rooms and gave free. Just came in my mind I remember how I joined vmk. I had annual passes to disneyland . When I was coming home I saw a little Vmk cart. Saw a card and took it home. :) Then it all began :).

However my first account was banned for the big 10 years. It was banned Jan 2007. I guess I recovered . I made a new account and i'm happy. (even though I have a one week ban)

Having lots of things in your inventory causes lag so many people put their inventories in rooms. It's easiest to use themes or likes with likes as a common way to organize things. So, having a "teleporter storage room" is pretty common. The blinking light helps to locate the proper set when you need it. It also helps confirm when trading teleporters that you have the matched set in the trade box.

this probably sounds really stupid but i am like getting all teary eyed :( i remeber when the baby rooms and the boys ask girl to dance rooms where never on there and i remember the spell room i felt so special going there i got to use the magic :) and it seems like if u have no money you cant do anything on vmk like pirates you have to pay for rides i remember there were no rides or there wasnt the frontier land and the tomorrow land and all my friends well most of them all left when i left for a year aww this is making me so sad :(

can u belive flying carpet magc was in the spell room!?!
