I wanted to start a thread so people can publish floor plans of the various rooms that are available. This can help people who do not have that room determine if they want to get it, or help people who do have the room plan a good layout for it.

NOTE: New maps are being posted to the wiki (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Vmk) in the Guest Room Catalog and Maps (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Guest_Room_Catalog_and_Maps) page, which also contains pictures and additional information about each room. This thread should be considered obsolete.

Quick index for maps:

U shouldn't double post sirPlease don't try to be a Moderator. I realize you are just trying to be helpful, and I appreciate you being polite. However, posts like this can result in even more forum clutter than double posts.

Ultimately, double posting is a judgment call. Prisoner has been around the forum for a long time, and he always follows the rules. Here, I believe his double post is warranted...for organizational purposes, it makes sense for each room map to appear in a separate post following the introductory post.

Wow, the Skull Rock room really is huge...no wonder we were able to pack so many people in there! Thanks for the update, Prisoner. I am so jealous...I would give anything to be mapping room dimensions right now in VMK. :D

I'd be happy to turn your 2-D top-down views into simple 3-D isometric views when I get a chance...keep them coming!

Yes, it is Malificent's Fortress. Sorry for the confusion.

As an aside, I welcome anyone else to contribute maps of rooms they have access to. This wasn't meant to be a solo project. :)

I'm glad people are finding the maps useful. I use them to help plan out future room layouts - I will load them into a text editor and place marks down to indicate specific furnture and see how it works.

And hence a guide to furniture footprints may be useful as well. HMM.

Here is a map of Boothill Shooting Gallery. After double checking, it is 179 total squares, 178 usable and 1 exit square with 14 partially obstructed squares. Perspective, Lower right to Upper left.

prisoner
09-17-2005, 12:27 PM
what the heck does unobstructed mean?

Unobstructed means not obstructed.

From Miriam-Webster (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/obstruct):
OBSTRUCTED
1 : to block or close up by an obstacle
2 : to hinder from passage, action, or operation : IMPEDE
3 : to cut off from sight <a wall obstructs the view>

Specifically in this case, we are using it in the context of "to cut off from sight". Meaning that although you can stand or put something in this square, it may not be visible.

Two technical notes:

(1) My thanks to those posting maps of rooms they own! I would just request one thing. Instead of turning it into a graphical attachment, paste the map directly into the text entry screen, surrounded by [ code ] and [ /code ] tags. These will keep the formatting correct and let people cut and paste them so they can fiddle with their own room layouts.

(2) To respond to
Are you also going to post the height you can stack items? I think there are some spaces in the back of the Space Room that do not go as high.
I wasn't aware that there were varances. I think making a note of this on the maps (either by using different square markers, as we do with obstructed squares, or as a note) would be very beneficial if we are aware of them.

Thank you very much as I have a Boot Hill room and was noticing a possible extra spot and then I realized that the bottom part is a wall and right below the wall is a row of obstructed view spaces. I did not know about the ones on the left side.

This makes it a lot easier because that left side is so odd shaped.

One of the testers had their room open and without furniture, so people ran into it. Turns out there were three of us mappers who got in and mapped it. :)

what's wrong with double posting?

Annia, please, lets keep this to topic. "double posting" under some circumstances is considered "spamming" under the rules of the forum (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=2) and is discussed in many other more topical threads.

SweepHunter

Actually the main problem I have found in stacking is that some things block the view of the stacked items such as lanterns and overhead beams.

I have also noticed that in stacking that there can be a warp where boxes seem to be hovering over the head of a person standing next to the boxes.

Once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty quickly. And I should point out that there wrere others besides me who helped in the mapping process. (At one pont three of us were doing the Space Mountain room without realizing the others were doing the same.)

I want to note, btw, that I've just edited the first post so there is now a quick index to the various rooms that are available and the posts that show their maps.

SweepHunter

There is a height limit apparently based on the screen and not on the room.

I was allowed to do 7 tables and a coffin or 8 tables but no coffin. I tried also 8 tables and rocking chair with no luck. This was in skull rock along the back wall near the entrance.

The advantage to having these maps is that we can plan what we're doing in a room before we get there. Or even see if it is worthwhile to buy a room for something we may be doing with it.

All my new projects are layed out on one of these diagrams before I try to do it in the game. Its a lot faster, too!

I'm working on a ride in the Briar Patch room and I decided to put your map down on graph paper to make it easier for me to read. However, while trying to figure out where I currently have ride pieces I found your map to be incorrect. Maybe it was a simple miscalculation of squares, but I have double checked the map and came up with a new one. Thanks to oDavido for letting me map his room. Here it is on graph paper. The red o's are the exits.

Also, I have noticed the more squares you have, the more larger the room will be

Hmm...
It looks better on graph/squared paper LOL.
Maybe you could include screenies incase we dont know the names of the rooms, like me.

Hmm, that's interesting, the baseball room is very similar in squares to the AKSL room. It has just a few more squares along 1 side. It looks like Yavn was slacking off when he did the baseball room :) (no offense Yavn) Perfect for the very few times when you want to move stuff from your safari room.

To be clear - you want to be able to put 23 crates from the front to the back all in one row, then another 23 crates from one side to the next all in another row?

I like how the rooms are mapped, but I like this grid way better though, it's more visual.

I think you are out of luck (unless I missed a room, which I may have). The only rooms I see that have 13 squares across and many down are the everest and space mountain rooms, which each have 10 rows that can handle 13 columns.

If you go down to 12, you can get a 12x12 grid with an everest room.

I have posted the HSM room and the Typhoon Lagoon room on the wiki (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Vmk) in the Guest Room Catalog and Maps (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Guest_Room_Catalog_and_Maps) page. When Blizzard Beach becomes available, I'll try to get that one as well.

Specifically, here are the links directly to the High School Musical Guest Room (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/High_School_Musical_Guest_Room) and the Typhoon Lagoon Guest Room (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Typhoon_Lagoon_Guest_Room).

I don't think we need to close this thread, but the wiki is a much better way to post this information. Come try it out!

The maps let us know how big each room is, and give us a template so we can try to plan rooms out without trying to place furniture.

This question is answered on the wiki (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Expedition_Everest_Guest_Room). I suspect more people have it than you think. :)

And speaking of the wiki - I've finally posted the map for the Blizzard Beach Guest Room (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Blizzard_Beach_Guest_Room). I'd appreciate someone checking it - this was a very difficult room to map.

Please don't try to be a Moderator.

Can you explain to me what double posting is?

Zebraa

That's pretty off topic, but it's exactly what it says. When you post, and then you post again right after your first post, so you have two posts in a row. Hence the double posting.

WOW, these maps are uber helpful. Thanks :)

Can you note in the Wiki that you link to that exit spaces can be used if a person puts an item half on land and half on water. A lot of people do not know they can use those spaces with tables, crates, treasure chests and saddles for example.

Woot great job and I have it bookmarked.

Actually, I didn't even know this. :) So if you have an item partially on a "usable" square, it can also partially exist on an exit square?
