Tips For Writing A Story
A few tips when you write a story:
1. Do NOT use the verbs: Am, is, are, was, were. They are considered "dead" verbs and make the writing less interesting. 2. Use vivid, great word choice. 3. Make sure the title PULLS the reader into reading it 4. Make the story suspenseful so they want to stop, but can't! 5. Have a great topic sentence, and a fabulous ending. 6. Use correct grammar and spelling (I recommend use Word Doc. and spell checking everything) 7. Make sure the reader can hear, see, feel, and experience what the character is seeing, hearing, feeling, and experiencing. 8. Ask for some feed back, and if someone says something offending, take it as constructive feed back. 9. Write long paragraphs instead of two sentence ones. But not super long paragraphs. Make sure you have breaks at the appropriate places. If two people are having a conversation, make sure to make a new paragraph after each person speaks. For example: "That was fun," I said. "No it wasn't," said Bob.Really bad example, but it will do. 10. Try and review your story for six traits, if you know what those are. Grade yourself. Be harsh because if you are not harsh to yourself someone else will probably bring it up.

Here's a small suggestion-- try to write neat, long paragraphs instead of two sentence ones.
Nice advice, by the way! - Rocks

Hmm, also I would reccomend perhaps increasing the font size of stories by one size, so as not to blind readers.

These 'story tips' were constantly pounded into me as a kid.
Trust me, these tips really work- especially if one is planning on making writing their career. Remember to start out small, then work your way up. ~Chaelle

Well, instead of saying:
She is going to the park. She walked to the park. OR He was just at a ball game. He came home from the ballgame. I don't know. It's summertime, haha.

I do everything except number 9, cause I find it hard to read when the paragraphs are too long idk why
My eyes kinda jump from sentence to sentence... and then ya.. LOL For example: I like to play with tops So does this girl, Sarah. Sometimes, I read it like "I like to play with Stops" cause Sarah is right beneath it LOL |
