People have been stealing my avatar and not asking permission, plz don't do this I made it myself :( if you need I will make you another avatar just not that one plz :(

This is in fact against the rules, without permission you are immitating another person which is against the rules. If you are one of these people I suggest you change your avatar, and be original, before we take action on your account, only warning. Thanks

In my opinion, I think this should only apply to "the creator's avatar". My point is, if your avatar isn't created by you(in other words, found over the internet via Google search or whatever), you shouldn't get mad at others for "stealing" it. I think it should only apply(the avatar immitation thing) to avatars created specifically by the person who has it in their avatar box; otherwise, making the rules stating an avatar gotten from the internet, and somebody else uses it would be worth punishing... just doesn't sound right.

I should really not being typing this stuff because I am supposed to be doing my homework.

The specific rules against impersonation state that:

"Impersonation of other Users" - Creating accounts on the site with similiar names of existing users in order to cause chaos or misconceptions towards that user is not allowed and it can lead to permanent suspension from the site.The way I read this, impersonation only applies to forum titles and not signatures/avatars.

While it's not nice to steal someone else's avatar--particularly if they made it themselves--I don't think the current impersonation rule applies unless the avatar thief is attempting to impersonate someone else. With that being said, I would encourage you all to ask permission before copying someone else's avatar or signature. At the same time, if you just found your avatar/signature on the Internet and didn't make it yourself, technically you stole it in the first place so I don't think you should give anybody else a hard time for wanting to use it.

1) If you include your forum name in your avatar, then it would be against the rules for someone else to steal it since that would be considered impersonation. I suppose they could always delete your name, but at least they couldn't use your exact avatar.

2) If someone does steal your avatar and you made it yourself, try asking them nicely to use a different avatar, give you credit in their signature, or whatever seems fair to you. If they are not responsive, please inform a Moderator and we will look into it.

3) It is never okay to steal a Moderator's avatar since impersonating a Moderator is a serious rule violation. Even if you are not attempting to impersonate a Moderator, using a Moderator's avatar can result in too much flaming/confusion on the forum.

4) As I stated earlier, if you just grabbed your avatar somewhere else on the Internet, technically you are stealing someone else's work so it's not really fair for you to get upset when someone else here wants to use "your" avatar.

Lastly, remember that "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery." Even if someone steals your avatar that you spent a lot of time making, consider it a compliment. :)

It took me two hours to make a semi-good looking avatar on paint, and nobody's stold it so far! ;) And I know why because it's ugly. rofl I'm amking a new avatar anyway.
