gabyta 02-03-2007, 12:31 AM cool!!!! hidden rooms :) :) :)
astroconfuseder 02-03-2007, 12:33 AM as soon as i get on vmk im searching for hidden rooms
Neoteny 02-03-2007, 12:40 AM Would've been nice if they'd told us about that 128-item limit in the Quest Kiosks before they ate all our stuff.
Would've been even nicer if they'd programmed the Kiosks not to allow us to put more items in than the maximum it could hold.
coolJamz 02-03-2007, 12:44 AM LOL im with you on that 1 ;)
Uncle Alaska 02-03-2007, 01:11 AM Would be nice if they actually sell storage lockers instead of kiosks.
GraspingClaw 02-03-2007, 02:09 AM I'm so tired of the hypocrisy when it comes to dictionary dancing. First of all, they scatter words all over the game that we're not allowed to use. For example, if the Yeti can ask if his haircut makes him look fat, I should be able to inquire the same. And correct me if I'm wrong, but as of late, doesn't Esmeralda greet us with a "Happy New Ear"? Hmm, it's not quite putting two acceptable words together to form a new one, but definitely a dance and according to VMK's rules, punishable by banning.
Furthermore, I think we've all seen the Hosts dance around numbers in their games. Honestly, I'm baffled as to why the Staff don't have the ability to use numbers if they consistently host games involving them. Either unblock them from their vocab or don't use them. But why set a poor and confusing example by dictionary dancing? Or instead of random number generators, why didn't they come out with random shape generators and allow us to say the names of the shapes? In any case, they're not the only people who can utilize the word "one" responsibly, and the substitutions for numbers are so rampant it almost seems silly to block them. While I understand that safety (and avoiding lawsuits) comes first in this game, I think we should at least be able to say "one". It's a very vital part of the English language and I guarantee it's not going to change anything as far as safety is concerned. People who will choose to use it as part of an attempt to share their age or phone number are doing so now, using the very commonly-known alternatives.
In conclusion: FIX THE DICTIONARY! If VMK would just add the thousands of harmless words that should be accepted in the first place, dancing wouldn't be near the issue it is today.

I think that your stuff aren't being eaten, I think they just remain in your inventory after row 128 was added.
MaidenAmerica 02-03-2007, 02:45 AM Ok, this Quest Kiosk storing tip is confusing me. Does it mean that you cannot save past row 128 (like if you had multiple prizes in each row and were giving out prizes to only 128 people) or does it mean that you can only store a total of 128 things? Moreover, since VMK is evidently aware that we are using them as a "storage room", wouldn't it be nice if they made us some closets, storage rooms, and while I am dreaming, some pin display cases? I would send this to VMK through the Contact Us button, but that hole is as black as the login page! :)

As long as we're dreaming about pins, how about the added ability to control how we display the pins on our lanyards? I need a little deliberate pattern action in my life.
MaidenAmerica 02-03-2007, 01:13 PM That would be nice Claw, and while we are at it, I sure would like to organize the way my rooms appear on my list! LOL I guess this shows how "organized" I would like to be and how VMK is much more than "just a game!":val03:
prisoner 02-03-2007, 03:29 PM Well, VMK is doing its usual wonderful job of communicating to us.
So... can we just not put more than 128 items in a quest generator even for legitimate quests? Or is there something about leaving things there for a while that is causing the bug?

This sounds like a problem between the client-side and the server side. Crops up all the time Still, highly annoying.
doesn't Esmeralda greet us with a "Happy New Ear"?
Well, this is also a pun, so might be forgiveable.
But why set a poor and confusing example by dictionary dancing?
This is particularly frustrating. I don't mind so much that staff can do things we can't - but in places where they're trying to set an example or give us ideas that we can then do ourselves, they should stick to the same things we're subject to, or give us the same tools they have.
Or... you know... just get rid of the HOSTS... :)
Neoteny 02-03-2007, 03:33 PM I agree: Staff should be able to use numbers, even if we are not. They already use numbers in their quests. Why not in their speech, too?
Forcing the staff to dance around number words only sets a bad example for the rest of us.

I completely disagree. Staff should not be allowed to use numbers or non-allowed words in their quests or in their daily speech.
As you say, they're there to set an example. They are role models. It is bad form to say "well, I can do this because I'm a HOST" unless there is a good reason for them to be able to do so. I don't consider being able to say a number on a generator a "good reason".
Destination 02-03-2007, 05:06 PM the only hidden room are like the pool, treasure maze, and all those other rooms for the BTM maze and thats it
Capt.Winner 02-03-2007, 05:45 PM I don't consider being able to say a number on a generator a "good reason".
There are plenty of other things besides generators. A good reason for them to be able to say things, is because they work and help moderate the game. I see your side, too, and both sides make sense.

And while working and helping to moderate the game - what purpose do they need to use the numbers for (at least what purpose more than any other player has a need to use numbers)?
My point is that if there are legitimate reasons for them to say numbers, then they should have the power. If there is not, then they shouldn't, and they should be good role models. And they have as much "need" to use the numbers in host games as we have a "need" in our own games, so I don't consider that a legitimate "need".

So you believe that staff should continue to dictionary dance the numbers? Isn't that setting a poor example for the rest of us? I think that allowing them to use numbers would keep them from having to dictionary dance.

How did you get that from what I said? :) See my second sentance - "If there is not [a legitimate reason for them to say numbers], then they shouldn't, and they should be good role models."
Isn't that setting a poor example for the rest of us? I think that allowing them to use numbers would keep them from having to dictionary dance.
Allowing us to use numbers would keep us from having to dictionary dance too. :D
But since we can't do it - then they shouldn't either unless there is a good reason.
And I'm asking what you think a "good reason" is, while stating up front that I don't think "a good reason" is because they need to say numbers in host games. Host games should also be good examples for us - in how to run games. They should be encouraging us to run our own games!
Is my opinion more clear now? :)
Neoteny 02-03-2007, 08:38 PM So you think that HOSTs should run their random number generator games without using real numbers or "danced" numbers?
prisoner 02-03-2007, 09:10 PM So you think that HOSTs should run their random number generator games without using real numbers or "danced" numbers?
Just like we are supposed to do - yes.
(Of course, I think hosts shouldn't be running games at all. But thats a parallel argument.)
GraspingClaw 02-26-2007, 09:02 AM Okay, I've gotta bump this because I've noticed lately that the last few Host-run quests have been absent of specific numbers when it comes to giving requirements for the mini-games. For example, in Phinny's quest on Sunday she explained that the score needed on Jungle Cruise would be "half of 50th". Normally they would just say 25,000, but instead she opted to word things like players are forced to. Also, there have been other quests that side-step the necessary tally of ghosts on Haunted Mansion and simply say "Don't give up now, this will be easy!"
Do you think this is a coincidence? Or could it be that they've been reading out posts and realized some of the hypocrisy in their games? Of course, they've continued to author their quests however they see fit, adding several words not in our dictionary and asking questions involving license plate numbers, but I have to wonder if the recent change to the phrasing of their mini-game requirements is a deliberate choice triggered by our dissatisfaction.
On a side note, I still don't understand why they can't let us select a set number of required Ghosts or Points on an options menu while creating our quests. That would make things much easier for everyone..

They do let us select the required scores for our quest tasks; they just don't let us tell people what those scores are.

Well of course that's what I meant, but I appreciate your services as always.
