Are You Ready For Some Football?
Game time is almost here for the big show next Sunday and for our Football Maze event! As I mentioned last week, our Football Maze event will be running all day on Super Bowl Sunday, February 4th - just enter any one of the special Football Maze Rooms we've created and you could win a VMK Football Pin.

To enter the maze event, look for the any one of the rooms titled 'VMK Football Maze'. Each maze has a different color, blue, green and so on, and each one is different and offers a unique challenge. Once you finish any one of the mazes - you'll win the pin. NOTE: You can only win one pin, no matter how many times you complete a maze (even if you finish different mazes).

Quest Update
Inquiring minds want to know if we're still on track to launch the new VMK Disney Animated Quest the first week of February. The answer is - yes! Just to clarify, the Quest will launch at both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World on the same day. If you're going to be at either Park around that time make sure to check in with VMK, as we'll announce on the website when the Quest goes live.

Speaking of Quests, you only have a few more days left to complete the New Year's Quest and get your VMK '07 Pin. The last day to do the Quest is Wednesday, January 31st. Now you don't want to be the only player without this cool Pin, so get out there and get Questing!

February is just around the corner and that means it's time to celebrate one of our favorite holidays - Groundhog Day!! Ahh, those cuddly little shadow loving creatures... how we adore them so. What? You don't like groundhogs? Ok, just kidding, does Valentine's Day sound better?

This year VMK has some fun stuff going on sale to celebrate the day - the highlight of which will be a brand new Pin. But just like Valentine's Day, the Pin will only be around for one day - it will be on sale on February 14th only! So make sure to drop by the Emporium and pick one up. So the Groundhog party is out? Oh well, there's always next year! ;-)

Both pins are very nice looking, but why can't we have something to celebrate Groundhog Day? By now, most people know to at least show up on the major holidays to pick up whatever trinket VMK releases. I highly doubt many people would have made it a special point to look for something on Groundhog Day. Why not reward the players that are on almost every day regardless?

I want a groundhog pin. That would be so cool, but I guess they won't make one; I was excited, now I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited so much stuff will be out for Valentine's, but I would love something for Groundhog's, too, maybe a special pin from a special one-day quest would be awesome.

It's kind of interesting, they have the appearance that they will be like part of a special event set, imagine having that full "set" (since they have the same basic design to them, it seems that way). I can't wait to see the New Orleans pins now either.

Anyone thinking about how you will be able to get the Epcot guest room? I have two thoughts. One is through a in-game quest. Another is that you have to buy it for, like, a zillion credits.

I cared, too. I wanted to see the pin for the football maze, and I like knowing that things will definately be coming out for valentine's day, and I also liked seeing the pin ahead of time. I like these little updates about stuff coming very soon. I didn't expect a whole lot from the EPCOT room, but we do know for sure now that they are considering making EPCOT furniture (with what would seem to be an EPCOT quest, so cool, I love EPCOT!). If you are never interested in the newsletter, why read it, any really big news I'm sure will be posted separately here. What are you guys looking for, anyways, the exact dates that the girl's pirate costume and blue and red director's chairs and everything else new will come out? I figured everyone would be happy with this one because it had a lot of info about new and upcoming things, and everyone complains about it when they get other info, but I didn't know people wanted to complain for this, now. Yes, we already knew some of this stuff (that the reward was a pin, EPCOT room would be coming out) and other was in great speculation (new stuff for Valentine's, EPCOT room furniture), but this added knowledge to the speculations about these things, and I think that was what it was meant to do. The newsletter isn't supposed to spell everything out for you, just give some hints. Of course, people also weren't happy even when the new quest info came out, because there wasn't enough about other stuff. This thing is weekly, you aren't going to get everything in one.

I like the new Fireworks game. The old one was boring. This "remix" presents a nice challenge. The only aspect which I don't like is the reduced payout, but the game itself is a vast improvement over the original.

I don't know about your reasons for playing VMK, but I'm in it for the fun, not for the fake money.

I can't even play Fireworks with my computer, so it's not an issue for me. Basically all I can do is get the NPC's, so I'm obviously not in it for the "fake money" either.

However, to build a room, make a quest, or almost anything you need money. So I would rather have people be able to get it easier so they can trade it to me! lol

As much as I do like the pin, I agree, some new furniture would have been nice.

Pins are so much easier to design and code, though, especially on short notice, and these people have enough on their plates already!

I happen to like this new idea for pin designs. You know, so we can tell these are VMK pins and don't get them mixed up with our real pins.

Pins are so much easier to design and code, though, especially on short notice, and these people have enough on their plates already!
I'm going to have to disagree again, I wouldn't call 1 month+ "short notice" Their "plate" is supposed to be full with designing new items, the Football Maze was announced long ago, and they are paid to come up with ideas and then design them. 1 month is quite enough to design a simple couch like they did with the Gingerbread Bench.

We don't even know anything about the Superbowl in the UK.
The shape of your football ball, is identical to our rugby ball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_league). (Yes.. a new sport for you to read up on there).
I think it's cool that we're getting a pin for something that we don't know anything about.. I'm just gonna' wear it as it is a rugby ball instead.

Aww, I was so looking forward to Turn into Groundhog Magic. It would be cool to pop up out of the ground, skitter around the screen, do that Gator Waiter look over the shoulder to see my shadow and disappear back into the ground. :) I guess we'll have to shoot for next year. Since the focus will be on Valentines maybe we can get some cupid magic. Shooting little arrows at everyone would be cool too ;) lol.

I think the fact that we get several cool new things on a weekly basis is extremely creative. The amount of effort that these guys put into a game that we do not pay for is unbelievable! I do think that Goofy in a football uniform would be awesome but I think the football pin is very cool as well. Just my opinion. :pirate:

Several new things a week? Last time we got something new besides a weekend pin was on Christmas day when we got the Gingerbread Benches.

I'd like to know where these "Several things a week" are and why nobody but you can see them.

We got the referee costume but that is the last new thing I have seen all month..

I think the pins were included in the new things on a weekly basis part. However, I think that they give out enough. It is hard enough for me to keep up with the pins and the other stuff they do release (ie. referee costume) since you get so much fewer credits from fireworks now, and none from yeti vision. My easy credit days are done, and I am putting forth a lot more effort than I really should just so I can stay on top of stuff for February. I don't expect new stuff every day or week, and I recognize that the designers have a lot of work to do (you know, creating a new land, the weekend pins, the hats, plus the special event pins, new quests, ect.). I'm okay with a little bit of a "break time" for them. They just finished Christmas, and before that Halloween (with several new hats, pins, and some new colored costumes) along with some new stuff for the football season and space mountain stuff in November. Before that of course were all the other themed months with new stuff, such as the tron. It might not seem like a lot of stuff is coming out, but have you ever had to design, code, and implement these kinds of things. Not to mention, on top of all of the holiday items, they had to finish up New Orleans Square (I'm sure there were some bugs to work out last minute), prepare Club 33 for it's weeklong showcase, re-do fireworks remix (and trust me, the game is now much more complicated to program with all the bonuses), make new quests and quest prizes for the New Orleans Quest and New Year's Quest, the New Years Hats, moving other rooms to new lands (all of haunted mansion to new orleans square), and making sure Gator Waitor was working correctly. That alone takes a lot of expertise and programming, to have him react certain ways to certain actions or phrases. Getting everything done for the week-long dreams promotion and items, including of course treasure detector magic, new fireworks pins, and the new quest piece of furniture which I believe spins? And of course February is probably a big thing for them as well, you know, four new hats (although the design was done in January, I'm sure it takes a while to get them programmed in and ready to wear and stuff like that), new pins for the weekends, new pins for special events (I think they are kind of cool, personally, it's a foray into new pin shapes, which also I'm pretty sure takes extra programming and such, so I think with that we should give them a break for a little while at least, these are testing pins for those that won't be square or rectangular. And of course, other valentine's items will possibly be programmed in (unless it's just heart chairs, but they still have to be prepared for release), and maybe some racing stuff for the second half of the month has been designed as well, don't know, but I will look forward to finding out. Not to mention I think we will have new host prizes this month (probably a pin and I hope some other stuff as well). This past month was a little low on new stuff, but they just came off a big designing and releasing time and are about to go into what looks like another one. They had a little bit of a break for like three weeks, why don't we just give it to them and let them prepare for the upcoming releases at a more leisurely pace. I for one am happy that they are releasing things as much as they are, and it's clearly more work than most of you realize, because not only do they have to design these things, they then have to program and code them, and make them work in the game. And trust me, that's hard work, I have friends who have done computer programming, and they assure me it takes a while to get all of that done. Not to mention, I doubt there is a massive department in Disney for VMK, since it is a free game, so it's not like there are probably hundreds of people doing nothing for the game who work for it and that's why you aren't getting constantly bombarded with items. As a matter of fact, they probably share a department with games that are paid for, such as toontown or the new upcoming pirates of the caribbean online game, and possibly the Disney website. The people probably have a lot to do in their jobs that aren't strictly VMK as disney computer program designers.

Well, seeing as we get the New Orleans Mardi Gras masks tomorrow (or today, depending on when you're reading this), that's at least something to spend money on...

I've gone from Christmas-poverty nothing back up to 20K, just from a lack of new furniture, rooms or costumes for an entire month.
