NicoleMarie 01-26-2007, 03:05 PM Thanks for the link. Will have to check back in 2 hours to see if it lives up to the Disney Hype. ;) LOL
StitchMad 01-26-2007, 03:09 PM Sounds good! :) Can anyone tell me how many hours that is from now? Due to the time difference. Thanks! :)
CiscoRau 01-26-2007, 03:12 PM For me that is 2 hours from now.
LillyTheKitty 01-26-2007, 03:31 PM On the site or TV?
jamiewe 01-26-2007, 03:33 PM Sounds good! :) Can anyone tell me how many hours that is from now? Due to the time difference. Thanks! :)
so right now on the eastern side of America it's 11:27 so in 2 hours time it will be 1:00 so in the UK 1:00 is 6:00PM, so 6:00PM is when the announcement is. :)

Destination 01-26-2007, 05:30 PM Wat Is This?? Wat Is Starting At 1:00 Pm?? Someone Plz Pm Me About This Plz Ty!!!!!
alice 01-26-2007, 05:34 PM Frankly, it is much ado about not much.
There are photos of celebrities portraying Disney characters. As far as I can tell, these have no relation to anything going on at the parks; they are just there to make the whole thing seems more glamorous. (I prefer my characters in traditional Disney form; no Hollywood hype needed! )
After careful reading and re-reading, here are the only new things they mention: Guests are invited to perform in the parade at Disneyland, and at WDW, Cinderella's Castle has a display of Cinderella's slipper and a King's Gallery displaying medieval swords and shields.
That's it, folks!
Joshua 01-26-2007, 05:37 PM :P
How exciting. "When the clock strikes 1...."
Neoteny 01-26-2007, 06:04 PM David Beckham as Prince Phillip? Is that the best they could do?
DisneyHottie 01-26-2007, 06:29 PM I'm kind of confused lol If there is anyone that can post the actual announcement that would be great! I cant seem to get on that link or let alone disney.com
Joshua 01-26-2007, 06:58 PM There is no announcement.

IOW, they're making their money back on an expensive advertising campaign (hey, hiring that celeb-photographer from Vanity Fair costs money!) by making us notice it.
But apart from the above few new YoaMD tweaks, nothing new on the table, and none the "Disney.com 2.0" links at the bottom seem to work yet.
(Oh, and if you don't know who Oliver Platt is, he was in a couple of 90's Disney movies, and David "Bend It Like" Beckham has since moved to LA, so it's not some UK thing.)
reality 01-26-2007, 07:40 PM This is a press release announcement to get the hype out that Disney is giving out millions of "Dream" prizes, vacations, stay at Cinderella castle overnight in a beautiful Cinderella suite, etc. This morning the news was also introducing the new Nemo ride, looks really cool. Huge aquarium with images of Nemo characters swimming with the real fish while everyone sits in a clam seat ( like haunted seat ). :mickeymo:

When does the new ride open?
Oranges 01-26-2007, 08:03 PM When does the new ride open?
It's been open for a while now.
Beyonce Knowles as Alice In Wonderland
Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella
David Beckham has Price Charming
Interesting...

Neoteny 01-26-2007, 08:04 PM It's been open for a while now.
Wait, what ride are we talking about? I thought the new Finding Nemo ride didn't open until this summer.
jobeejer 01-26-2007, 08:07 PM The Nemo ride has been open at Epcot; you ride in Clamobiles.
:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

"The Seas with Nemo and Friends" at the Living Seas pavillion has been open for some time.

jobeejer 01-26-2007, 08:09 PM And Animal Kingdom has a great Nemo and Friends show, replaced Tarzan show in a new theater.
:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:
LittleToni 01-26-2007, 08:12 PM Ok, so back on topic. :o) This thread has nothing to do with VMK now right? No codes, no cars, not a single luxery? Like Robinson Crusoe, we're as stranded as can be?
LT
PirateTod 01-26-2007, 08:17 PM Now the photos of the actors and things.
Could this possibly mean some Disney movies yet to come?
Or just Disney publicity photos?
Neoteny 01-26-2007, 08:18 PM Ah, ok, I was thinking of the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland, which I guess is a completely different thing.
DerekJ 01-26-2007, 08:39 PM Ok, so back on topic. :o) This thread has nothing to do with VMK now right? No codes, no cars, not a single luxery? Like Robinson Crusoe, we're as stranded as can be?
Nnnnope. And neither do threads about the best All-Star hotels or the best Epcot restaurants.
But, since some VMK players do go to WDW, that's how it got its own section of the Forums. Too bad this one was more of a false alarm. :D
(There is a new Hotel pin, but that's under News.)
Schmoofy 01-26-2007, 08:46 PM So what was this big announcement? I am hearing in the IRC that Toy Story Mania was officially announced, was that what this is?
alice 01-26-2007, 09:32 PM Now the photos of the actors and things.

Or just Disney publicity photos?Well, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the photos. But there's no hint at any upcoming movies, and heaven forbid if there were. (Shudder.) It's one thing for Disney to make a live-action movie out of a classic attraction. But for them to "Hollywoodize" a classic Disney cartoon is taking it too far. (Unless it's a stage musical like Beauty and the Beast or Lion King, and the emphasis is on the original story, not the stars.)So what was this big announcement? Not a big "Glenn Close in 101 Dalmatians" fan, are you, Alice?
DerekJ 01-26-2007, 10:09 PM Halftime-thread summary to prevent further thread mutation:
IT'S
AN
AD!!!!!!!
(Thank you for your attention. This thread may now continue under normal patterns of discussion, while Disney tries to make back all that money they paid out trying to grab Vanity Fair's spotlight.)
Neoteny 01-26-2007, 10:13 PM Vanity Whose whatlight? I miss something?
DerekJ 01-27-2007, 12:09 AM As reported in news articles:
---
"The photo, shot at a lake near Madrid by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, will appear in US magazines such as Vanity Fair and Vogue in March."

(...Told ya.) :D

Fine, so it's an ad. I just wonder how this qualifies as big "breaking news" about Year of a Million Dreams.
DerekJ 01-27-2007, 05:17 AM Well, it doesn't, really--
Just wanted to stop the mid-thread "Maybe it's for some big-budget movie!" thread mutations before they started to get strange and scary.
AwesomeM 01-27-2007, 06:19 AM I have edited the title of the thread and the post, if anyone has anything about what was previously put, i suggest you remove or edit it for further confusion (wiw long words)

But I wanted a dreams code :) Oh well hehe :wave2:
StitchMad 01-27-2007, 09:46 AM Basically it's just saying that those celebrities have had their dreams come true - Which is dressing up as characters?
LittleToni: Don't know where you got the idea of VMK codes being there? LOL.
bluealyssums 01-27-2007, 05:50 PM I can't find where all of the pretty pictures are! :(
alice 01-27-2007, 06:04 PM Basically it's just saying that those celebrities have had their dreams come true - Which is dressing up as characters?
Well, with the "Guess whose dreams are coming true now" lead-in they displayed yesterday, that would make sense. But with today's "Star-powered dreams come true" lead-in, maybe we're supposed to feel that our dreams have come true seeing them dressed up as characters, rotfl.
It's not particularly clear from the website.....
monilynn 01-28-2007, 05:47 AM I'm obsessed with these pictures literally..when i found out about the new cinderella package where you get to sleep in the suite i was absolutely hooked. Can't wait to find out who plays the rest of the characters..Eva Longoria as Meg from Hercules anyone??
Cinnamon Minuet 01-28-2007, 06:07 AM That's not for VMK is it?

Yes, I have always dreamed of seeing David Beckham on a horse.
Oh, wait, that wasn't me.
WisePrncessSophie 02-03-2007, 04:50 PM The Disney Dreams picture of David Beckham as "Prince Phillip" is amazing! He looks the part. Annie Leibovitz did a gorgeous job on that picture, and I would say that my second favorite was Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella. The dress is THE Cinderella gown...
:val07: Beautiful! I love this campaign... And it is getting a lot of publicity, which is great for Disney.
