View Full Version : 1/26 DLP New York Hotel Pin on sale! ShadowBurst 01-26-2007, 03:22 PM http://www.maj.com/gallery/rakoa/toontown/newpin.bmp 500 credits, as usual. gabyta 01-26-2007, 03:49 PM cool pin :) :) Schmoofy 01-26-2007, 05:25 PM Now that's a nice pin. I really like this series. LAXplaya1346 01-26-2007, 05:29 PM Woot :) enjoying the nice slow release period of time Neoteny 01-26-2007, 05:36 PM As much as I am enjoying these pins, I wish they wouldn't be announced ahead of time on the calendar. I always liked the surprise. Maybe the calendar could just say, "New pin available," or something, without telling us what the pin will be. It's even worse next month, because we already know about the new hats each week! VMK, bring back the joy of surprise! gabyta 01-26-2007, 05:39 PM As much as I am enjoying these pins, I wish they wouldn't be announced ahead of time on the calendar. I always liked the surprise. VMK, bring back the joy of surprise! I just decided to don't read that part of the calendar so I'm still having surprise every friday :) lol :) GoofyGeggy 01-26-2007, 05:43 PM As much as I am enjoying these pins, I wish they wouldn't be announced ahead of time on the calendar. I agree that there's no real reason to pre-announce every pin since we can generally assume there's going to be a new pin every weekend. However, I do appreciate knowing that new hats will be coming out so I can save a few extra credits to buy them. ;) Neoteny 01-26-2007, 05:46 PM I agree that there's no real reason to pre-announce every pin since we can generally assume there's going to be a new pin every weekend. VMK is basing her hotel pins of pictures that can be found on Google Images. This is the first hit when you look foor DLP Hotel New York: http://www.solarius.com/assets/gallery/dlp/dlp-hotel-newyork.jpg By the way: i like the new (DLP)pins! :) Neoteny 01-26-2007, 06:43 PM I don't think it's a coincidence that the pin looks like a photo of the hotel. I mean, the pin is supposed to represent the hotel! prisoner 01-26-2007, 07:16 PM As much as I am enjoying these pins, I wish they wouldn't be announced ahead of time on the calendar. They won't because us players have stated loud and clear that we don't want surprises. We want everything to be told to us - very clearly and explicitly. We demanded more information about what was going to happen, and what to expect. So we got the detailed events calendar and Yavn Speaks. Yavn gives us fun previews of upcoming changes and additions, and I have no problem with those. But we already know there are pins coming every weekend. Wouldn't you rather wait until Friday morning to find out what they are? I know I would. Knowing exactly what is going to happen a month in advance takes a lot of the fun out of it. It was nice to know that there would be a new hat on New Year's Eve, for example, without knowing what the hat would be until it appeared in the Emporium. Guessing is fun! We don't get to guess what February's hats will be. :( AdventureGirlGo 01-26-2007, 07:46 PM As much as I am enjoying these pins, I wish they wouldn't be announced ahead of time on the calendar. We don't get to guess what February's hats will be. :( I can't help but agree with this. It is good to know that an "item of a certain sort" is coming, so that we can be somewhat prepared. Based on recent costs, we have a pretty good guess that hats will be 1000, pins and costume pieces 500, and special furniture in the range of 250-1000. So for those who typically carry lower credit totals, they can prepare. All well and good. However the element of surprise sure is great too! Think back to last month when all the holiday stuff came out. How many of us were checking the shops on a fairly regular basis "just in case"? Twisty 01-26-2007, 08:06 PM For some reason, VMK is still not working so, I cant buy the pin today. -.- The pin looks really cool, but the design of the pins aren't nearly as good IMO to the 1st set of the Hotel Pins. GoofyGeggy 01-26-2007, 08:11 PM Very much a case of be careful what you wish for. You mean like no queue limits? Neoteny 01-26-2007, 08:57 PM Very much a case of be careful what you wish for.You mean like no queue limits? Or like making the prizes more fair in Fireworks, so that the second place player doesn't get more credits than the first place winner? Neoteny 01-26-2007, 09:06 PM You mean the fireworks game that everyone loves because it doesn't give out as many credits as the old version did? That would be the one. prisoner 01-26-2007, 09:54 PM Yavn gives us fun previews of upcoming changes and additions, and I have no problem with those. But we already know there are pins coming every weekend. Wouldn't you rather wait until Friday morning to find out what they are? I know I would. For starters, lets make it clear that VMK doesn't exactly care about what I want. :) I think the "what you wish for" problems go back far far longer than the current complaints - but that is getting off topic. I agree with you in this case. I see no reason to announce what the pin will be when we all know that it will be there. But do you remember a time when having a pin come out at all was a big surprise? How much we wondered if there would be a pin the next weekend or not? And eventually the thrill wore off when we realized it would be every weekend... except the weekends it didn't happen! And where do you draw the line? You seem to think the line should be drawn at knowing "something" will happen, but not knowing exactly what. Judging by the reaction to last weeks newsletter, it sounds like a lot of people want to know exactly what. I go the opposite direction in many cases - just surprise me! Don't tease me. Don't leak out information. Don't play "look, but don't touch". Let magic just happen and let us explore it. It was nice to know that there would be a new hat on New Year's Eve, for example, without knowing what the hat would be until it appeared in the Emporium. Guessing is fun! We don't get to guess what February's hats will be. :( But by knowing something would happen, doesn't that take the fun out of it in a different way? Wouldn't people have been speculating if they would do something for new years? Instead they speculate on something else. Seems like VMK is perpetually in a no-win situation. Neoteny 01-26-2007, 10:10 PM It's good to know to expect something, so that we know to save up our credits. But we don't have to know exactly what. prisoner 01-26-2007, 11:17 PM It's good to know to expect something, so that we know to save up our credits. But we don't have to know exactly what. Here's a good hint when it comes to VMK. "Expect something" :) Again - I can see where you draw the line and why. I just disagree. I want to be even more surprised. With all the advance notice that happens VMK is just too predictable for me, and I can see why it contributes to the boredom that some people feel. As for "saving up" - thats a good practice regardless, without knowing exactly what might be coming. A good lesson to learn. There's always something coming. bluealyssums 01-27-2007, 06:47 PM I really like the new pin - it's very pretty! :) Neoteny 01-28-2007, 04:24 PM At least they're not telling us what they're doing for Valentine's Day. So we'll still have some surprises this month. la4gator 01-29-2007, 04:02 PM the pin is rather interesting to me. i haven't liked any the hotel pins until this one was in thomas/sora/dudeetaye 02-01-2007, 02:55 AM At least they're not telling us what they're doing for Valentine's Day. So there goes febuary GoofyGeggy 02-01-2007, 02:59 AM At least they're not telling us what they're doing for Valentine's Day. So we'll still have some surprises this month. Sadly this was typed before the newsletter came out on Monday. ;) Neoteny 02-01-2007, 03:04 AM Sadly this was typed before the newsletter came out on Monday. ;) Yep. So much for that particular surprise. We still do have the surprise of whether we'll see the heart chairs again this year, or whether there might possibly be something else new. |
