After a lengthy discussion, the moderators here at vmkforums have decided to ban future and remove old discussions/posts involving in-game bf/gf/dating.

Due to the fact that this is a "G" rated forum, we have decided that those discussions are inappropriate for this board even though they are allowed in the game. As a reminder, all other bf/gf/dating is also not allowed (see existing guidelines (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=2)).

I tottaly agree. I mean, these fourms are for children of all ages. If people want to date, then do in it person (wicth I think is safer, anyway) because who could this be? A 10 year old; dating a 55 year old! It could be anyone. And, it just makes people not want to go on these fourms. Some children can't handle "let's make out online", witch I think is pretty nasty myself. My point is that we have to keep a clean, safe, fourms website. The next thing you know, they will be doing it on VMK :)

First of all, let me say that I will support this decision by the moderators. I know they have a job that can be rough, and making this rule will hopefully make their job, and all of our experiences on the forum, better.

On the other hand, I'm sorry that this rule was made, and that it was considered necessary.

One of the unique things about this forum is that it is multi-generational. I have been on many Disney forums, and they are usually dominated by either adults OR kids, but very rarely is there a mix. This is the first forum I've been a member of where kids, teens, young adults, and older adults are all talking about the same things. It has been educational to me, and I hope it has for others as well.

I will admit that the bf/gf debate has, quite frequently, been quite heated. And I'm very sorry it has. Perhaps on this topic more than any others the different views and outlooks were most clear, and perhaps this was where it was most important that we talk. In these discussions I was a part of, I truly learned more about different perspectives on this from a wide variety of people. It shaped my opinion, and (again) I hope others understood both sides of the issues better. I hope some have improved their discussion and communication skills as well.

With this debate gone, the discussions already feel less significant. It seems that all the posts on this issue have been replaced by people asking for Green Flip-Flops - hardly a worthwhile replacement.

I, too, like the cross-generational topics that one can get many viewpoints. That is a unique quality of this forum.

I also agree that posts have lost a spark, but not to do with this particular rule. Rather, I feel that it is because people have less time to spend online due to school starting up and the like.

Dout it! But anyway nice Idea. This will put a stop to all thoughs BF GF threads and complaints. At first I was ok with it but after a while it gets alittle out of hand.

FINALLY! its gotten crazy the things ppl do, i wish they would do that in VMK atleast tone it down

It is completely annoying. I see rooms on the popular guest rooms list titled "Boys come pick your girl!" and "Come Find Your Match!".

Most of the players on VMK have titles now that say 'taken or 'not taken'

Also, lots of girls on this game are desperate for a boyfriend, as long as he is cute. That really disturbs me. I was sharing my computer with my friend (He is a boy and has a boys account on the game). We were on his account.

Wherever he went, girls would race up to him and ask him to be their boy. He would get at least three friend requests from girls in each room. It was sort of funny, but sad at the same time.

I am tired of people asking me for dates.

In MSN messenger I have friends who I know and trust.

It is wrong for people to be online or one the telephone looking for friends or love or dates. There is no way to know if the person you are talking to is safe. On the phone there are voice changers that make it easy to sound like a kid or teen ager.

This practice of encouraging people to date is wrong. This is a G rate Disney site which is safe supposedly. The kids then will get the idea that they can do this elsewhere but not realize until it is too late that they are getting into a dangerous situation.

I had a high school classmate who was bullied all of his school years. He met a guy who was into witchcraft, demons, claimed to be a vampire and more. It started out to be harmless friendship and fun. My classmate probably was on drugs and did very very bad things. There is more but that is all you need to know is that he started out looking for a friend and that so called friend end up luring him into bad stuff.:mad:

We cannot condone in a safe place certain actions because young people may think they can do those elsewhere.

xxVMK is own by Disney and Nick owns VMKForums. We have our own policies seperate from VMK. We strive to keep a G-rating and have found often that relationship discussion quickly turn to become non G-Rated. Therefore, we've had to ban such discussions. VMK would prefer that people don't talk about relationship discussions, but haven't had to ban it all together as of yet. Though with their word filtering, they can keep it down to a minimum. Our word filter is a great deal more limited as we don't wish to hinder discussions. We have mods/admins that review the posts and can manually remove non G-rated discussions.

Yes. Most of that talk was extremely Non-G-Rated. I saw a lot of it in the Rants forum, too. If you don't like it, why post about it. :)
