View Full Version : Bridge to Terabithia (Merged)
Adventurebry 01-02-2007, 05:28 AM I think this is the best place for this thread..
Anyway, I am very excited for this new Disney Movie. For one thing, AnnaSophia Robb is in it, and she is a great actress. Another thing, I read the book, and it was great. It should be released on Feburary 16th of 2007. Anybody else read the book? I suggest you do, it was great. I just can't wait to see what Disney is going to do to this movie.
Some pictures from it:

fantasylion 01-02-2007, 05:31 AM Yes I read this book and I absolutely love it!! It was my entire class that read it but I loved it! My class will be taking a feild trip to see it when it comes out, but I was wondering where you found the pictures? If you could tell me that would be great.
If your planning on reading the book do NOT look at the spoiler box!!
I HATE the part when Leslie dies though! I cried >_<
technogirl 01-02-2007, 05:31 AM I <3 the book. :) We read it in class and a few of my classmates almost cried at the end. I can't wait for the movie. :) Oh, and if you haven't read the book, you should read it before you watch the movie. ;)

Well, im not sure if the site is 100% G-rated, So I will just put the rest of the pics in my post. Enjoy :).
theastroA 01-02-2007, 06:09 AM I LOVE this book! I will make sure I see it when it comes out! When what happened in the spoiler box happened I was devastated(sp?)! It might be one of the shorter books that I've read but it is still really good.

Penguinz 01-02-2007, 07:26 AM I loved this book! I almost cried when she died
It was so sad, I loved the dog, and I thought the dog was going to die
snowgalsnow 01-11-2007, 03:54 AM i lovessssssssssssss that book i had to read it in my class i got to see the movie
Rachal 01-27-2007, 09:20 PM I just recently had to read this book called "Bridge to Terabithia". It was cool, then really sad. The thing is that, the movie of it coming out, it seems absolutely nothing like the book. Plz, if you have read the book and/or saw the movie, plz tell me what it is like. I don't want to see the movie because it is so much different from the book.
MasterMario 01-27-2007, 09:43 PM It doesn't really matter to me. It has some scenes from the book. Like when the boy make his own land by drawing it and it came to life. I am sure that'll be in the movie.
Rachal 01-27-2007, 09:47 PM Yeah, I just hope they don't take out what I think was the most important part. It was the very sad part, too.
MasterMario 01-27-2007, 09:52 PM Yeah, I just hope they don't take out what I think was the most important part. It was the very sad part, too.
what was the sad part? Anyway a book always has more information than the movie
LRGoalie 01-27-2007, 10:00 PM I read the book last year and it was amazing. The movie probably has some similarites and some differences, just like all book to movies productions. I want to see the movie though. I'll prabably cry at the end when.... something happens.. SHHH
Rachal 01-30-2007, 12:37 AM Well, let's just say that the sad part is truly sad. It's not just like "the cat ran away" or "mean people" it's something that everyone cries about.
Anyway, I don't want to spoil the secret "sad part".
It probably will have more differences than similarities, well that's what I think from the previews. Like the part of all the creatures, there were not creatures. The only creature in the book, was the cute dog, Prince Terrian.
Well a GIRL spoiled it 2 me that somebody DIES
heh heh hint hint
Rachal 02-11-2007, 05:28 AM Hey, I did not say anything, so that better not be me, bob. I will call you bob for short cause i'm lazy.
jdrocks 02-19-2007, 10:21 AM Wow....I just got home from Downtown Disney and saw it at their movie theatre.....INCREDIBLE FILM. Breath taking. It should win a Golden Globe, Oscar, Academy Award, etc... It is a beautiful film. About imagination, friendship, and love. It has a sad part of the film.:( Really sad.......(I am not going to give it away but I could hear EVERYONE sobbing in the theatre.) Amazing film. Wonderful. 4 stars.
Best film of the year.:Embar:
comic_dreams 02-19-2007, 10:25 AM oh, really! well i read the book and it was fantastic, i was actually going to go see it tonight but went to a ducks game instead (they lost :-() well im glad to hear that it wat so good im definatly going to see it soon and yes i thought it was sad also.
JeannieV 02-19-2007, 10:36 AM Actually, jdrocks you have confirmed something for me. I was hoping they would keep the ending of the book in just one way, and they did.
I may buy this movie LATER in life, but I will also buy the book. I am happy Disney took on this project.
superdsuperd 02-19-2007, 10:55 AM the book is wonderful happy moments and sad moments...like many people i read it in class but like 3 years ago! i remember a bit but not very much!
comic_dreams 02-19-2007, 10:56 AM i agree very sad but yet i had a very nice time reading it
witchesrock 02-19-2007, 05:18 PM I read it a long time ago so I read it again because I'm going to see the movie. But all the trailers I've seen in the movie show them a lot actually IN Terabithia, even though the book really doesn't say anything about them actually being IN Terabithia. Isn't that sort of weird? How do you make that spoiler box, by the way?
blueotter 02-19-2007, 05:58 PM I had to read the book for what we called "literature circles". I am going to see the movie pretty soon. I can't wait to see it. I thoguht the choice of Anna Sofia Robb was a little surprising and I didn't know she could sing!

Well if you think about it, in the book they aren't always roaming in Terabithia, BUT! knowing Disney they will take a plane book to the extreme. Do you think little kids will take interest from everything in the book that is meant for older kids, you must remind yourself its for children of all ages and adults! but i don't think a little 3 year old girl wants to see a movie with them running in dirt and imaging things? she would probably prefer the animals, fairies etc. So i know its not like that in the book, but Disney thought beyond the book.
blueotter 02-19-2007, 09:19 PM I just got bakc from the movies, and it was great. I have to read the book again though. So I can compare them.

daizyduke 02-19-2007, 09:52 PM It was a great movie, but it's really sad that Leslie (AnnaSophia Robb) died in the movie..:(

ProfessorBob 02-20-2007, 04:33 AM It was a great movie, but it's really sad that Leslie (AnnaSophia Robb) died in the movie..:(
:tink: Daizy
Well, thanks for telling me  .... Anyways... I think it is weird how in tv shows and movies and such they always have people playing parts that are younger than them, like AnnaSophia is 13 and Josh is 14, but in the movie tey play fifth graders.
compadredude 02-20-2007, 04:36 AM Yes I read this book and I absolutely love it!! It was my entire class that read it but I loved it! My class will be taking a feild trip to see it when it comes out, but I was wondering where you found the pictures? If you could tell me that would be great.

who is leslie
daizyduke 02-20-2007, 04:37 AM who is leslie
The girl with short, blonde hair. She's the main GIRL character. (she's played by AnnaSophia Robb). :D
:tink: Daizy
compadredude 02-20-2007, 04:38 AM how does she die (u can pm me so not everyone knows =) )
blueotter 02-20-2007, 05:01 AM Well, thanks for telling me  .... Anyways... I think it is weird how in tv shows and movies and such they always have people playing parts that are younger than them, like AnnaSophia is 13 and Josh is 14, but in the movie tey play fifth graders.
I think they do that because an older child can memorize lines better and play a strait face. Another might be because of Child Labor Restriction Laws. Like when Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen played Michelle on Full House they had to switch them around every so once in a while. They might have changed it to a certain age.
I find that odd as well. Look up Bridge To Terabithia on Wikipedia and it says that Anna-Sophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson play Middle Schoolers. That could be an error.
They also could have chosen them because they fit the description. Like they weren't to tall and they had similar physical characteristics to the characters int he book. And they could have read the lines better than others.

jdrocks 02-21-2007, 07:45 AM Yeah, it really hurt Jess because he actually fell in LOVE with Leslie.
TikiRoom 02-22-2007, 02:56 AM Wooo, I wanna see the movie, haven't read the book but I was wondering:
How did Leslie die?
jdrocks 02-22-2007, 03:13 AM She drowned...:(. She was using a rope to cross a bridge and it ripped and she fell in the river and just sank........makes me cry movie got 4 stars! You know what that means right? SEQUAL!!! Yay lol maybe it'll be about Maybell....
jsmall 02-22-2007, 08:21 PM I liked the movie. I dont think it was as good as narnia but still good.
Neoteny 02-22-2007, 08:45 PM It's a great book. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from the ads it looks very different from the book, with a lot more emphasis on the fantasy sequences. I hope the ad campaign is just misleading, though, because the book is excellent.
disnyfreek 02-22-2007, 09:50 PM The girl dies....
My thought is- why bother?
I read the book last month. It was pretty good, and i want to see the movie now... I haven't seen it yet. I think that you should see it just because it is a good story..and the death is somewhat necessary for the plot to come to a close and for the book/movie to be memorable.
Dudejoejoe 02-23-2007, 12:56 AM She fell and hit her head on something. Otherwise she would be able to swim to the top, at least.
LadyMaria 02-23-2007, 01:32 AM She fell and hit her head on something. Otherwise she would be able to swim to the top, at least.
Is that what it says in the book? In the movie I remember it saying she tried to swim but the currents (sp?) were too strong. I was too upset, I might have heard wrong.

I was too upset also. When they said that i was like WHOAH!
I really didn't see that coming...
ShadowBurst 03-01-2007, 11:09 PM I had to read the book for what we called "literature circles". I am going to see the movie pretty soon. I can't wait to see it. I thoguht the choice of Anna Sofia Robb was a little surprising and I didn't know she could sing!

She can't sing.
She stinks >_<

They were 5th Graders, then even said they were. I think they were at a K-12 school though.

Exactly. I read the book, and thought it was great. Seeing the trailers threw me off though. Beaver things? Whoah! What's that.. a giant? When was that in the book?! I haven't seen the movie, and I've only seen about 30 seconds of the film, and probably about 3 seconds about these fantasy sequences, but it still looks like it's too much of a fanasy-ish movie for me. I liked the main storyline better then little kids pretending to be royalty.

futuremartymcfly 04-02-2007, 11:58 PM Don't worry, the ads are trying to mislead you into thinking its a fantasy epic like Narnia. Instead its a total drama.

So they didn't totally destroy the book? Maybe I will see the movie, then.

Yes, she did hit her head on something in the book. The movie is the same. I guess you were too upset ;).
maxxkid 04-11-2007, 05:17 AM i preferred the movie to the book. more content, for once. and they sub- stayed to the story.
dogsdogs 04-12-2007, 06:17 AM I love this movie. It is so tuching. I allmost cried.
Basicly the enitre book is in the movie.
They just added more seens in Terabithia, and the story takes place more of todays time.
