Should vmk have bans? I mean, this is an odd way of viewing it but you can never truly get mean people out of vmk, and I think it's excelent to deal with annoying snotty people because they teach you how to live your life with the world around you. Once again, should we have bans, or give people more chances to play? Now they dont even give warnings in most cases, just bans! NOT FAIR!

I think it's pretty fair. Just my opinion, don't yell at me.

Yup, i think in some cases the person flat-out should be banned though, but i believe most bans are unfair.

I'm not aware of any justice system where 100% of the rulings are fair. But you don't throw the baby out with the bath water . . . unless it's a baby roach! lol:xmassmile:

If there were no type of punishment for wrong doings, then madness would go over VMK. People would continually break rules. I know that some bans aren't fair, but at least it does make people really cautious in what they do since many people know that a ban will occur for wrong doings.

To rid us of mules and make bans stick where they are fairly applied, vmk should have a system like some other sites. Only allow real email addresses to be signed up and require people to confirm from their email. This would not keep people out who go to the trouble to set up additional email accounts, but it would make it just that much harder to get back in.

Then things should flow like this:

3 warnings
1 day ban
1 week ban
1 month ban
logon ban
ip ban

So people are given a chance to act right but repeat offenders are weeded out to keep things cool for the rest of us.

Also, if they make false reporting subject to punishment, that will weed out the bad attitude people who make it hard for the overworked staff to moderate vmk.

It may seem very strict, what I am saying, but we all read the rules when we signed up. We should stick to them if we want to stay.

They would need some kind of appeal plan to account for the people who are wrongly banned or warned, but it should be kept simple. No repeat appeals for the same offence.

Anyways, that is my take on it. Feel free to disagree, that is what makes life interesting. };8)

You have warnings then 2 hour and then the day.

I believe VMK should use "infractions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infractions)" . This would then add up to say 5 infractions and you get banned for a month. 10 infractions = 3 month. And then if you haven't learnt your lesson, you should then get a 10 year ban. Most bans are un-fair, yes. For example: I got a 2 month ban for saying "what is your real title guest?". (they were a rich guest, meaning, "who is your main character?". I understand that VMK had a right to ban me, but they took it the wrong way. Times like that I wish I had a staff on IM. ;)

LOL stitch.

That infractions thing is actually a pretty darn good idea!
my ban was totally unfair, one minute i was in a room with people talking, next minute i was banned! FOR 10 YEARS!!!!!!!!
And i can honestly say i didn't say anything rude :O

Anyway, about personal information, what is up with that? VMK is everyone at least older than 8, and the people under cant even read, there is no point in overreacting over little personal details like first names, states, and ages, but now phone-numbers are different stories, vmk staff sometimes gets me angry by over-protecting us "8-year-olds and up."

I think being banned is a stupid idea.

I mean, maybe if you got introuble you wouldn't be able to get new stuff or something could be a consequence.

But being banned from a virtual game? I think thats stupid.

But that's from a girl's opinion who has been banned atleast 4 times LOL
Okay maybe it was 3... lost count :D

First names, states and ages are some of the largest issues over the internet. This is how people track down children.

Well, if you say stuff like that then you should be banned. Sort of :|

I still think banning is a stupid idea. :D

I think banning is a good idea, but I have to disagree. I was in a room and said I wanted some tea. Boom I get ban, there was a person in the room telling personal information and I asked my friend to see if they got ban, nope they don't get ban -_- I've been ban twice for no reason.

scary online predators.. if they find out your name, age, and state, they can track you down on a few sites, one particular site is very easy to track kids on ( not mentioning name, but if you ever watched Dr.Phil or many other shows, you know the site..) Simple info can lead to bad things online.. trust no one you don't no in real life

On one account of mine, i got ban for 2 months, because my sister changed me into a baby 'bay be'. Now, I didn't even do that. How stupid.

What kind of Lord of the Flies website do you think they're running here? Of course there should be moderators who enforce the rules and values with the use of bans. I just wish I had a ban button on my keyboard. It would make the game of pirates so much more enjoyable! ;)

Bans only affect those who normally wouldn't be predators anyway which is the unfortunate side effect here. I suspect that a predator would be a Guest who would get him-/herself in trouble and simply hop onto another account. Not to mention, the ban occurs after the sensitive information is communicated (they're almost never caught in time if at all). Keep the ban (for punishment purposes) but make signing up a little more involved - how about a parent's email address that must be confirmed. And if you're an adult, have your own email address verified.

The ban, like it or not, keeps some people from taking the risk. Remove this consequence and it's going to be anarchy.

Well, in most cases they did do SOMETHING wrong. But not all the time you get the write amount orf ban time...

And, the main reason why they "over-protect" us is because they don't want to get sued. Some parents may go to measures to blame VMK. I mean, not that they want all us getting kidnapped (then VMK would be a failure for Disney, as it is a promotion), but they don't want to get sued for A LOT of money. But hey, I think they do it for OUR own good too ;).

My Brother started Playing VMK when he was 6 -.- and he could read....

Anyways, there should be bans! What would you do somebody just kept asking you, "where do you live!?" and we didn't have no Banning or Ignore button!? VMK and Disney are a team! An as long as Their a team, Staff will protect us! Just think of the mas Computer-Castmembers :D
