Dont you think Give-A-Gift will be another way for people to transfer items from mules to their main accounts? I have a feeling a lot of people will be doing that. Dont you think that too? Hopefully there will be people who actually want to make their friends happy on the holidays by giving gifts. I sure will be sending presents to my friends!

It is not right, but players might have a reason, and they might send it to themselves, but players will definately send gifts to others as well.

the main purpose of the give-a-gift is to give gifts to others. However, you don't need mules to get yourself gifts because you can easily send it to yourself (main account).

Well, from your post I get the impression you believe that you select an item from your inventory, then select a person to give it to.

It's not like that at all. It costs 500 credits for VMK to send someone whom you select and send them an unkown item.

Yes, some people do send them to theirselves but they're wasting their own credits so who cares? ;)

Don't sign in with your VMK character's name. Sign in with the email address you use to sign into VMK! The 'give-a-gift option comes after the step you are showing in your picture.

Hey Air, when I sign in to use the contact us option, I use the same ID and password that I use to log into the VMK game. Your log in could be your email address or you may have chosen something else when you signed up. Hope this helps. Feel free to message me with any other questions. :)

I cant get it to work! I looked up my birthday so I know it is right, but I don't get the give a gift option. It keeps saying I am having trouble remembering my information.

Same here, but restarted my computer and gave the site an hour to try again--Think it blocks out activity for a certain amount of time with "wrong" passwords when you enter the wrong VMK Login address.

Worked fine after that (as a few people on my Friends list will soon find out).
Now maybe I can finally start answering a few Push's Trivia questions.

Last year there was a debate about whether or not it was appropriate to trade the gift (wreath) since it was a gift from a friend. Some people actualy refused to accept them in trade. Since I didn't know what the gift was going to be, I sent one to myself. I think if you pay the same as the next player, and want to send yourself 100, that is fair. When muling is used to get multiples of free items (ie:quest prizes, credit codes) that is when it's considered by many to be "cheating".
I actually think buying one for yourself so you can trade it without trading away a gift from a friend is a good idea.

I don't see a problem with it, As long as the Gifter is also sending presents to others. VMK Staff probably track abusers if someone is doing something they shouldn't be.

You asked for it, so it's back for an encore this year. As promised last week here is the skinny on this year's Give–A–Gift!

Give A Gift!

Do you have a friend in VMK who deserves a special gift? Maybe you're worried you won't be able to find them in the game to give them the gift, or maybe you want to give it secretly. Well, we have a special item set aside for just such an occasion. Just let us know who that special someone is and just like Santa, we'll deliver the goods. Here's how it works:

– Beginning Friday December 15, click the 'Contact Us' link and select the Give-A-Gift option.

– Tell us the name of the VMK friend you want to give a gift to. Be sure you give us their VMK character name and this is important - spell it correctly! Sorry but we can't deliver gifts to invalid names.

– You can give a gift to as many Friends as you like, but YOU MUST USE SEPARATE ENTRIES FOR EACH PERSON.

– 500 credits will be deducted from your VMK credits for each gift you give. If you don't have enough credits, your gift won't be delivered.

– Gifts are delivered anonymously - your friend won't know you gave it to them unless you tell them.

– The final date to Give-A-Gift is Sunday, December 21, 2006 and all gifts will be delivered Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

You won't know what this year's gift is until the 26th of December!

Well, I used contact us to see if I can just say " please send a gift to everyone on my list " when I get enough credits. They said I have to do each vmk title separate. It's gonna take a while to do that, but oh well. I'm still gonna do it ;)

I still need to wait four hours for VMK to open! I want to spend credits while being generous :D. This will take time to type tons of VMK usernames! I hope I can find something else to do while waiting for VMK to open... I need to see my friends' list.

Well, I just finished entering everyone on my friends list. I worked on it pretty much since VMK closed but I took a few breaks to like surf and stuff. I have a little bit more than 60k credits right now and I will get the rest to pay for all of the gifts easy tomorrow. I just have to make sure that my credits stay over 75k until after VMK takes the credits for the gifts. I just wish they had a easier way to enter all your friends. I even sent to contact us to ask if I could just say "Send a gift to everyone on my list." but they sent back and said I had to enter each friend one at a time. My final total of gifts sent to my friends is 66 (33,000 credits) :) I sent one to myself too just in case lol. he he. I am also giving 2 gifts I get (assuming I get some of course :)) to 2 people I missed because they took the give thing away hours before close on Sunday. I played, saved and gave and had a great time too. I've never had so many credits in my vmk life lol. It was a fun event and I am happy that I could give to so many of my friends. If I could give to my entire list I would have but I ran out of time and playing fingers.

I sent one to myself after the 21st and didnt get on from myself I dont think because an extra 500 credits was left over that I know should have been taken.

Odd...LOTS of people have been saying they didn't get gifts when their friends TOLD them they sent them a gift

I also know someone who ended up with negative credits because they said they sent too many gifts! VMK said they wouldn't deliver any gifts...does that mean these people ended up with negative credits and the person they sent their gift to got NOTHING? Wow...weird.

While I received the ones from friends and my kids, none of the ones I sent have appeared yet. Maybe there is something to the IP issue. I hope not. Multiple players in the same house would be out of luck. With all the registered players, maybe it just takes longer than we thought to get all the presents out.

I am sorry I Missed this point. What does that mean? Do I need to logon from a different computer ( and IP) in my house to get them? We have five computer in my house.

And how do them know the IP number. Because most home copumters use DHCP. The D stand for dynamic. So your ciomputer does not have the same IP number all the time.

The candy canes that have not been sent/received seem to be those that were sent after the Give A Gift option disappeared from the Contact Us form and then came back. I'm assuming they will fix it, but who knows.

You asked for it, so it's back for an encore this year. As promised last week here is the skinny on this year's Give–A–Gift!

Give A Gift!

Do you have a friend in VMK who deserves a special gift? Maybe you're worried you won't be able to find them in the game to give them the gift, or maybe you want to give it secretly. Well, we have a special item set aside for just such an occasion. Just let us know who that special someone is and just like Santa, we'll deliver the goods. Here's how it works:

– Beginning Friday December 15, click the 'Contact Us' link and select the Give-A-Gift option.

– Tell us the name of the VMK friend you want to give a gift to. Be sure you give us their VMK character name and this is important - spell it correctly! Sorry but we can't deliver gifts to invalid names.

– You can give a gift to as many Friends as you like, but YOU MUST USE SEPARATE ENTRIES FOR EACH PERSON.

– 500 credits will be deducted from your VMK credits for each gift you give. If you don't have enough credits, your gift won't be delivered.

– Gifts are delivered anonymously - your friend won't know you gave it to them unless you tell them.

– The final date to Give-A-Gift is Sunday, December 21, 2006 and all gifts will be delivered Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

You won't know what this year's gift is until the 26th of December!

Looks like it's different from last year and you will have to have 500 credits on your account on 12/26 for each gift in order for your gifts to be delivered.

if anyone sent me a gift - shrugs - im not sure yet.

but todays my birthday and it is the 26th so it would be actually getting a gift to me on my birthday.

Are you all saying muling is bad? I sent a few to myself, to give to friends that I forgot to send to. If you check the Wiki, look at the Myths and Rumour section, and you'll see that muling is not against the rules. If your too lazy to look, I'll post it here if you ask.

Try explaining the situation to Contact Us. They've gotten a lot better at correcting mistakes lately.

I have a fantastic idea for the give-a-gift, maybe for next year? The give-a-gift is a single-use magic pin (like the treasure keys), and you must go to the VMK Esplanade where there are gifs. When you stand infont of one of the gifts and use your single-use gift-pin, you get a present. :)

I love this idea!! and I'd love to know who sent the gift too! as we read on the newsletter about the tickets and the information about what room could be open with each ticket, we could have different "gift magic" with the sender title and the validity time or something like that :)

Has anyone sent anything to the black hole and received a response? I basically asked what's the deal with the event mix up but have not gotten a response yet. In the meantime, I will hold onto the credits in case they fix this. :D

I think VMK is getting mixed up and having bugs with this event. I sent my friend 1 and she didn't get any and she sent me 1 but only 2 people sent me a gift but 10 people said they sent me 1. Confusing......

Dont worry, I'm feeling the same way with the way this event turned out for me also! I sent in my letter to VMK also yesterday and I'm still waiting for my response.

Yes, I sent them a note through "Contact Us" yesterday and have not heard back either. I just checked my account and none of my gifts have been delivered yet.

a) people may tell you they sent you one, but chances are they were lying..
b) half of you said that you filled out the form AFTER the give a gift option was removed from the list. The rules say to use that option (right?) - if it wasn't there, you would assume it might be over, no?

i like the idea of the single use magic pins.. it adds a bit more excitment to opening your gift..
but i think that vmk should say who sent the gift.. i sent out ten, got five and have had at least ten people say they sent one.. no big deal, but it would be nice to know who really sent them :)

paper the give a gift option was there it had been removed on the thursday and put back on on the friday as vmk had messed up with the dates putting that it ends on sunday 21st so people did take part the way vmk said the problem is with vmk somewhere not because people have not listened

I sent a question to them and they emailed me back asking for more information. So hopefully they will look into mine!

The give a gift option was there when I entered all my friends but I still have all my credits. And a few of the peeps on my list are my other accounts and I know they haven't got a magenta candy cane yet. And those accounts wouldn't get a gift from anyone else because no one really knows them and they don't really talk in vmk. They just get credits and do host events and stuff like that. So anyway, I'm kinda sad that my gifts haven't been delivered yet. I'm keeping my credits above the amount I need to pay for all the gifts tho. And I gave 141 gifts so that's a lot of credits, but I mostly just want all my friends to have their gifts because some peeps that are on my list didn't get a gift from anyone else so I want them to know that at least one person in vmk cares about them enough to send a gift :)

Wow thanks for this info! I spent my credits but was like, wait a second? I should not have that left? So after reading this thread I played games today to get my credits back to where they were so the 6 people I did on the weekend will get their gift I sent and the credits will be in my account.

So don't spend those credits yet!! Or your gifts won't be sent!

Yeah I can confirm this. Just asked staff and was told samething. All orders sent until day before Christmas will be honored but a little late. YAY!! Thank you VMK!!!

Hmm so will this happen automatically??? Still trying to figure out why my daughter didn't get any of the gifts we sent and I think it was on that day they took the Give A Gift thing away and then brought it back.... Do I need to do anything now or just wait and see if she gets them do you think?

i did the give a gift and now i have a nevative balounce of 900 credits. it'll take me a week to recover all of it. i should of never of did the give a gift :( :(

do you know if you had to do the Give-a-gift between 7am-10pm PST when vmk open ONLY????

because i did some after 10pm PST closing on 12/22 since i made note of it and now wondering if my friends got their gifts.

the link was still there at contact us section so i did a bunch after 10pm PST vmk closing......
I just also sent Contact Us question about the timeframe problem too....

I sent my give-a-gift request when VMK was closed, and all my friends received their candy cane.

Last I checked I did not get any of my candy canes (supposed to get like 10) and some of my friends were asking me if I entered them like i said (and i did), they didnt get their gifts either but I lost my credit for them.
