The plot I have heard is as follows:

Sharpay and Ryan are jealous of all the attention that the new stars of East High Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez are getting, so they come up with a plan to try and break up the two new stars at the Country club, of which Ryan and Sharpay's families are members, and Troy works as a lifeguard as a Summer job. Sharpay pretends to drown at the pool so that Troy must come to her rescue and give her mouth to mouth, and at the same time Ryan tries to convince Gabriella that Troy is cheating on her with Sharpay.
Will Troy and Gabriella get back together, or will Troy and Sharpay have the start something new?

It is unconfirmed but highly possible that there will be a High School Musical 3.

That plot actually sounds very cool! I was worried that Disney would screw up the sequal but it sounds fun!

The plot isn't exactly official yet, but that's what it is so far.
The movie will air on Disney Channel August 17 2007.

Get back together it's a Disney movie. Always Happily ever after's. :)
