Home For The Holidays!
Well after a week plus of being on the road, I'm very happy to report the 'Yavn World Tour' is finally over and I'm back at home! It was a full week of Disney Park goodness - last week I was at Walt Disney World and on Saturday and Sunday I was at Disneyland! Very few people get to see both parks in the same week, but it always amazes me how each park is special in its own unique way. My pal Jake will tell you all about the trip and all of the cool stuff we saw (including our Winter Summerland Mini Golf rematch – not to worry I putted my way to another victory…).
Before getting into this week's news, thanks for your patience during the 'Build Your Space Mountain' Ride Competition. We took a bit longer to finish the room judging and awarding the prizes but in the end finally awarded the winners – part of reason results were delayed was because we had so many great rides to check out (it was really difficult to pick the winners), the bigger reason was that most of the team was traveling and we didn't quite get everything sorted out before we took off. And yes, I got your comments about not letting you know what the prizes were up front, sorry. In the future we will let you know what cool stuff you can win when we launch the event. All in all though, I hope everyone had fun – and again, I'm sorry for the delays.
Give and Receive!
You asked for it, so it's back for an encore this year. As promised last week here is the skinny on this year's Give–A–Gift!
Give A Gift!
Do you have a friend in VMK who deserves a special gift? Maybe you're worried you won't be able to find them in the game to give them the gift, or maybe you want to give it secretly. Well, we have a special item set aside for just such an occasion. Just let us know who that special someone is and just like Santa, we'll deliver the goods. Here's how it works:
– Beginning Friday December 15, click the 'Contact Us' link and select the Give-A-Gift option.
– Tell us the name of the VMK friend you want to give a gift to. Be sure you give us their VMK character name and this is important - spell it correctly! Sorry but we can't deliver gifts to invalid names.
– You can give a gift to as many Friends as you like, but YOU MUST USE SEPARATE ENTRIES FOR EACH PERSON.
– 500 credits will be deducted from your VMK credits for each gift you give. If you don't have enough credits, your gift won't be delivered.
– Gifts are delivered anonymously - your friend won't know you gave it to them unless you tell them.
– The final date to Give-A-Gift is Sunday, December 21, 2006 and all gifts will be delivered Tuesday, December 26, 2006.
You won't know what this year's gift is until the 26th of December!
Holiday Quest
Just a quick reminder that the Holiday Quest is live on both coasts! Visit either Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and complete the Quest before January 2nd to get those Holiday cards!
The Decorative Holiday Snowman is one of three collectable Holiday cards you can get by completing the Holiday Quest.
Can't make it to the either park before the holidays are over? Then why not play the in-game Santa Clause Quest? The Quest is based on all three Santa Clause movies, just get out those DVD's, watch and you could score a Cooke Tree!
The Cookie Tree.
Holiday Goodies Galore!
Looking for more Holiday goodies to deck your virtual halls? Warm up next to the Towntoon Fireplace or satisfy your sweet tooth with the Yellow Candy Cane, both are now on sale in the Emporium - but you knew that already, right?
So who's up for a peek at next week? Check this out:
Take a seat on Santa's Chair (reindeer not included)…
Celebrate New Year – Come On!
Made any plans on ringing in the New Year? If not, join us here! VMK will be staying open an additional 3 hours so we can ring in the New Year with our friends on the West Coast at Disneyland! Yep, you heard that correct VMK will operate from 7AM PST - 1AM PST on December 31st! We're planning to ring in the New Year with special events and prizes so be sure to stop by. (A little birdie told me about a cool new hat, but that's all I can say for now...)
Aside from all that we're busily putting the finishing touches on the updates that are coming in January - I'm sure you're excited to see them, we've got lots of cool stuff, including A NEW LAND... OK, gotta get back to work, lots of cool stuff to get finished up. Keep checking the Newsletter for more details!
See you in the game,
Yavn

You've got questions,
Yeti has answers
My family just got back from visiting Walt Disney World in Florida. We stayed at the Grand Floridian - where in the lobby they have a huge life-sized gingerbread house! Is it real? And how do they make such a huge gingerbread house?
- Percius
Dear 'Sweet Tooth' Percius,
I am happy to report that the gingerbread house in the main lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is indeed real, and real tasty too I might add! How do they make such a massive sugar shack? Well, a team of pastry chefs work for weeks crafting the house. In all, they spend over 400 hours baking the thousands of pounds of ingredients, including 35 pounds of spices, 1,050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, 600 pounds of sugar, 140 pints of egg whites and 180 pounds of apricot glaze. The house is so big, it even has its own shop inside that sells, gingerbread houses.
Do you have a question for me?
Send it to me through the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you (the email and information you registered with) and select "Dear Yeti" from the drop down menu. Every other week I'll answer a question or two here in the Newsletter.

Trading
When trading, make sure that you get a fair deal by double checking the trade window. You can see what you are giving and what you are getting. Always make sure what you are trading for is in the trade window. If you think a trade isn't fair, please don't trade. There are plenty of opportunities to find what you need.
Reporting Problems to
VMK Staff
When you have a problem with something or someone in the game, make sure your report to us includes as many details as possible regarding the situation. Our staff wants to help you, but to do that, we need to understand the situation clearly and what you want to have resolved.
Having as much information as you can provide will help the staff take care of the issue quickly and effectively. Likewise, if we don't have all the information and have to go back and research what happened it will take us MUCH longer to answer you concern and fix the problem.
When you're reporting any problem, include the players name and location, the time and date, and most importantly, clearly explain what happened. If you're telling us about a chat that took place or a ban inquiry, you can repeat the conversation or instance. Just be sure to include who said what (using a specific player name) - and before you get into talking about the actual chat make a note that you're about to relay a conversation that has already taken place.

Hey guys, Jake here, what's up!? I'm just back from visiting Walt Disney World with the VMK team! Here's my report on that awesome trip! Thanks to the guys at VMK for letting me tag along!
Party at the Polynesian
I arrived in Florida after a five hour airplane ride from Los Angeles with the VMK team. After grabbing our bags we headed off to check into our hotel – the Polynesian. What a great hotel! From the second you walk into the lobby you think you're in Hawaii! I've never been to Hawaii but if it's anything like the Polynesian – man, I can't wait to go. I give high marks to any hotel with a cool pool - but this one takes the cake – it has a volcano in it!
The Polynesian is located right on the water and just a short walk to the Monorail – we he hopped on the Monorail and made our first stop - The Magic Kingdom to check out the Boo To You Halloween Parade – probably the coolest thing in it was The Headless Horseman who was the Grand Marshall. Equally as cool was the fireworks show afterward - this was really cool! You could even see the show from our hotel which was a mile away!
Ohana's open Bar-b-que pit!
One night we watched it as we at Ohana – this is a family style Hawaiian restaurant - with meats served on a giant stick! (I made the mistake of filling up on all the tasty appetizers before the meats came out but next time I'm holding out just for the meat!) I love meat on a stick, and especially love it when it's all-you-can-eat AND it's brought right to your table! The best way I could describe it would be to say it's like an indoor luau, but we didn't have to sit on the ground or anything… ;-)
More Adventure - Disney World Style!
Anyways, Epcot's Food & **** Festival was also going on at Epcot the week we were there. Each country has booths set up, but you could also try foods from countries that weren't represented in the World Showcase, like Poland, Greece, and Spain! While I didn't have any ****, I did taste some pretty interesting things in the World Showcase area. Besides The Magic Kingdom, Epcot is my favorite park and got a chance to ride Mission Space and Test Track with Yavn – he didn't get on Mission Space with me and after riding it, I know why! Mission Space is an extremely realistic simulation of space travel and it's not for everyone, but it was definitely my kinda ride!
Make an offering to the Yeti before you get on Expedition Everest! (It can't hurt!)
Later in the week we needed to get into the holiday spirit for some Holiday Questing, so Yavn took the VMK team to Winter Summerland and I was lucky enough to tag along. This is a holiday themed mini golf course just a few minutes down the street form our hotel. It was really "cool" to play golf here! The holes aren't too hard but what makes the course really fun are the wintery obstacles you have to avoid to get the ball in the hole – and the Christmas music playing over the loudspeakers. We all sang along to Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer and I had such a good time I even beat Yavn by a few strokes!
The Halloween party at Magic Kingdom was awesome!
Back in Cali
Speaking of holidays, after we got back to California, I had to get down to Disneyland and check out the newly redecorated Haunted Mansion – in case you haven't heard, Jack Skellington and friends moved in and decks the hall with Nightmare Before Christmas cheer! If you've never seen this ride redone like this, you are missing something pretty spectacular – it's like a whole new ride! The Mansion will be redecorated like this until January – so be sure to check it out before it's gone!
Well, I gotta run, they'll be lots more to talk about with all the holiday happenings in the parks so be sure to keep reading my column for the inside info!
– Jake out!

What President declared December 5th as Walt Disney Recognition Day?
Know the answer?
Send your answer using Contact Us at the bottom of this or the main VMK webpage. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you and select Push's Trash Trivia from the drop down menu.
Out of all the correct answers, three players will be randomly drawn as the winners and sent a cool prize. But hurry! Only entries submitted by the close of game on Friday will be accepted.
Here's the answer to last weeks Trash Trivia question:
Q: The Osborne of Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights presented by SYLVANIA is a special holiday event held at Disney-MGM Studios featuring millions of dancing lights synchronized to beautiful holiday music. On which famous US city "street" does this spectacle take place?
A: New York Street.
Did you know: Almost 80% of the lights in Osborne of Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights are from the original Osborne collection. Jennings Osborne started the tradition when his daughter asked to have the family home in Little Rock, Arkansas covered in lights for Christmas, way back in 1986.
Every year the light show continued to grow with the family even purchasing the home next door to expand their every growing light show and by 1994 what started as a 1,000 light display had grown to more than 3 million! Local officials and traffic jams brought the show to end in Little Rock, but just a year later in 1995, Walt Disney World invited the Osborne Family to bring their holiday magic to Disney-MGM studios and share it with the rest of the world.
Congratulations to the 3 lucky (and randomly picked) players that sent in the correct answer for last week's question!

What makes a Guest Room award-worthy?
Guest or Game Rooms that stand out show originality in concept and design. It could be a use of conventional furniture in unconventional ways, the use of a theme or color, or humor. Game rooms that get the nod offer a new game idea or a new twist on an old favorite. In all rooms we look for room owners who welcome everyone with a smile and show a willingness to answer questions about their room.
Check out this week's Best Guest Rooms and Best Game Rooms.
Tips, Tricks, Hints, and How To's
Get Creative In Your Rooms
With the ride competition quickly approaching, remember, VMK Staff loves to see creative uses of ride pieces when judging rooms.
Did you know you can combine the different ride tracks? You can connect them together in your rooms to make it look like players are going through different environments. Try hiding the transition pieces behind furniture or trees to create the illusion that the ride is going into a different area. What's better than leaving the cold tundra of Everest then sliding down a waterpark slide in sunny, warm VMK?
Try experimenting with drops. All of your pieces don't have to line up perfectly height-wise. You can link uphill pieces to take you up high, then have a sudden drop down to a lower level piece. This looks neat when you alternate the ups and downs to give the riders a bouncing effect.

Cap'n_Leandro 12-12-2006, 12:21 AM I think it should be something NOT IN DISNEYLAND PARKS!! For example: VMK CITY!
How i know?? WELL IF YOU LOOK CLOSLEY IN THE MONORAIL STATION, YOU SEE SOME SORT OF CITY WITH VMK ON TOP! So i think its a VMK City
Flame Gun 12-12-2006, 12:26 AM It's gonna be Mickey's Toontown Fair, I can sense it it won the poll and it's about the only thing they need to finish VMK
Virtual MAGIC KINGDOM then they might start working on other parks and they could change the title to
Virtual Disney Park's
CookyHalie 12-12-2006, 12:27 AM how do you think we would get to the other places? you think they might change the monorail?
mikeb_86 12-12-2006, 12:31 AM Maybe???????????????????????
jsmall 12-12-2006, 12:32 AM how do you think we would get to the other places? you think they might change the monorail?

VDP? Nahh, doesn't sound right. If they add other parks, maybe the title can be VMK and more! Haha
WorkoutDude 12-12-2006, 12:32 AM I personally hope the new land is New Orleans Sqaure **hint hint**
jsmall 12-12-2006, 12:34 AM I personally hope the new land is New Orleans Sqaure **hint hint**
That would make no sense because they already have pirates in adventureland
So we cant count that one out i think
WorkoutDude 12-12-2006, 12:34 AM That would make no sense because they already have pirates in adventureland
Your point being??
jsmall 12-12-2006, 12:38 AM They would have to move the Twain and the pirates game
camara 12-12-2006, 12:43 AM sorry, when i looked the newsletter was not yet updated.
abbycatkid 12-12-2006, 12:47 AM no it is going to be epcot i can sense it :]]
:santa8: Now that....would rock vmk!!! I hope it comes! :santa8:
BelieveNTheMagic 12-12-2006, 12:48 AM on the vmk homepage wasn't there a poll about a new land and everyone mostly pick the mickey toontown thing?
camara 12-12-2006, 12:52 AM well i have a feeling the poll was based on lands created, and they want to see which one we want first. Apparantly Mickey's ToonTown Fair won. My guess is that we are suppose to see this open up in vmk this upcoming January, along with a quest based on Mickey's ToonTown Fair (the place is in both coasts like adventureland, and yavn said the new quest was going to be for both coasts).
Schmoofy 12-12-2006, 12:56 AM Well whatever land it is going to be, I hope there's a credit paying game!
jsmall 12-12-2006, 12:58 AM Well whatever land it is going to be, I hope there's a credit paying game!
I hope so! But what a Mickey's toontown fair could they make a game out of?
camara 12-12-2006, 01:00 AM Well whatever land it is going to be, I hope there's a credit paying game!
and an NPC, to make up for the things Tomorrowland's missing, in our opinions. Anyway...
yavn, if you're reading this, can you give us a 1-room picture hint on this site like you did with Frontierland last year? Or Perhaps even a corner of a room or an item?

If its Mic's toontown. Guess what NPC it will be. My guess would be Mickey Himself
tiggerspice 12-12-2006, 01:03 AM I had no idea that VMK would have another land so soon! Great way to kill the post holiday blues! Yay!
I don't care which it is, VMK has yet to disappoint!
TigS
AlexKeepsItReal 12-12-2006, 01:05 AM Yeah boy, a whole new land. I am going to walk around in it like crazy. I honestly hope it does have a credit game. And not just any credit game, one that uses other people like pirates. Fireworks gets VERY old to me VERY fast. Pirates always changes and offers new things.
TomorrowAlpha 12-12-2006, 01:06 AM Wow, I hope that they do indeed create another land. More rooms to explore!
jsmall 12-12-2006, 01:12 AM I hope they take there time on it. I'd rather wait then have a land with several problems.
Exoxus 12-12-2006, 01:23 AM I, personally, hope for an EPCOT, but it is most likely going to be Mickey's Toontown Fair. ;)
We get what we want, and we want Toontown!
-X

Too bad epcot wasnt one of the options.
Flame Gun 12-12-2006, 01:30 AM how do you think we would get to the other places? you think they might change the monorail?
Maybe they could take the Esplanade off the map and make us take the Monorail to it and then there would be enterences to other parks
lil325 12-12-2006, 01:36 AM Your point being??
I am with you workoutdude. New Orleans Square would be awesome!!! :)
larkija 12-12-2006, 01:37 AM Well whatever land it is going to be, I hope there's a credit paying game!
Yeah, I hope that too!
It has to be an easy credit game that gives you roughly 300 each time. THAN I would be happy!
Right now, I would be happy with any land being added. Remember when Tomorrowland fully opened? Each room had 3 red Mickey heads for how many players were in it. So, I would either try to enter by waiting in line, go on later with not as many people rushing to one room, or by waiting about a couple days for the line to slow down. :xmas4:
I wonder what it is though, maybe NOT even Mickey's Toontown Fair, or Epcot? Maybe its one entirely different land, not ever mentioned on the homepage?
Whatever it is, it should be greater than great!
~larkija

they didn't give an opinion poll for nothing ;)
Garfieldo 12-12-2006, 01:42 AM Woot! A new land to get bored of after two weeks! :)
If it's Toontown, I hope we'll see some Toontown Online reference there. ;)
FantasyBlueBoy 12-12-2006, 01:54 AM Remember what happened to the ride pieces poll... Waterslide was first, and what do you know! It came out. Second in the poll was space mountain ride pieces and what do you know! It came out.

Wait, what was the rest? I think one was rollercoasters, so will it be a themepark?
You know, the more you talk about it, the more impatient you will be. :D
I'll just wait a little longer... BUT... not too long! I don't want to miss anything!

davidsplanet 12-12-2006, 02:52 AM Perhaps a land based on Disney's Animal Kingdom? Who knows?
PirateMario 12-12-2006, 02:55 AM A Toontown/ Toontown fair would be to obvious, many players would suspect it, there fore it would ruin the surprise! I think it might be a land of thier creation!
Takket 12-12-2006, 03:08 AM I'd love to see Epcot but I think its going to be Toontown.
Waterelement 12-12-2006, 03:10 AM A little birdie told me about a cool new hat, but that's all I can say for now...
I think yavn has actually hidden a clue within that sentence. I put it in bold. Perhaps a Partrage ( please forgive my terrible spelling ) hat? You know, like "A Partrage in a pear tree"
Eviie 12-12-2006, 03:17 AM I think yavn has actually hidden a clue within that sentence. I put it in bold. Perhaps a Partrage ( please forgive my terrible spelling ) hat? You know, like "A Partrage in a pear tree"
Very creative. That'd be pretty cool too! Well i'm looking forward to this new land. Whether it's liberty square-Epcot i will keep my head high with open thoughts and just wait till this day. I don't want to wait till like July of next year because that'd be just ridicioulous i mean why would he tell us SO early and release it 8 months later? I wouldn't think that's cool. Anywho, hopefully there WILL be a new game. That takes no longer than 5 minutes to play and gives at least 300-1000 credits because Fireworks takes too long. The scoring is very un-organized. I get 240,000 as my score i get 1,300 i get 257,000 as my score i get 375 credits. Point made? Anyways can't wait for the new land! Yavn please post with a TINY TINY TINY clue. Maybe a corner of a room or a logo of the place? Your driving us VMK players NUTS! :P But you never know with Yavn he works in mysterious ways ;]
Waterelement 12-12-2006, 03:41 AM Well, what better way to start off the new year, than with a new land?
larkija 12-12-2006, 04:54 AM Wait, you know Zippty-Doo-Dah?
Well, in part of the song, it said "Mr. Blue Bird on my Shoulder, Its the truth, its actual, evrything is satisfacual..."
Maybe something like that...?
Wow, yavn sure put that newsletter at a good time. Now everyone is wondering, "What could it be?"
GoofyGeggy 12-12-2006, 05:11 AM Didn't Mickey's ToonTown win out in the VMK Main Page Poll a couple weeks ago? They seem to listen to their poll results, so I would bet that is the new VMK Land. It will be fun, no matter what it is. :)
jsmall 12-12-2006, 04:31 PM I just came to me. Epcot would piece the puzzle together.
clue 1 the epcot quest rumor
clue 2 the epcot cash charger being postponed
clue 3 the adventureland is going which brings us back to #1
fun4life 12-12-2006, 06:28 PM What about a (MGM-)Disney-Studio's? WDW has one and DLR Paris has also one, with Rock 'n' RollerCoaster, Tower of Terror, ToonTown (yeah, in Paris it's a area within the Studio's) :)
winniesdapooh 12-12-2006, 06:33 PM its mikeys toontown fair i am almost positive 75%
matzb 12-12-2006, 06:39 PM i cant wait for a new land i hope its epcot lol
LAXplaya1346 12-12-2006, 07:40 PM Guys I saw this coming and i posted a while back, Check out the I button in the Esplanade ;)
Well, VMK seems to be patterned more off of DLP and MK than DL, so I'd use a process of elimination to figure it out...
Critter Country? I don't think so, as Splash Mtn is already in-game in Frontierland (as it is in MK).
New Orleans Square? Again, the two main attractions in NOS are already in game- HM in Frontierland (which corresponds to Phantom Manor in DLP) and Pirates in Adventureland (both DLP and MK)
EPCOT is not technically not a LAND, but a whole park, so I doubt they'd do a seperate section- this is supposed to be Virtual MAGIC KINGDOM, not Virtual EPCOT. I wouldn't be suprised to see some EPCOT stuff around, but not a whole "land".
Liberty Square? While that was my choice in the poll, I find it difficult, as one of its signature attractions (Mansion) is already in-game, and the other- Hall of Presidents- doesn't seem like it would add much to the VMK experience.
So, that really does leave Mickey's Toontown Fair. Although, I'd much prefer if it was patterned after Toontown at Disneyland- there's A LOT more to do there, and it's way more fun. Plus- Benny the Cab as the NPC? How awesome would that be? And as a shop- The Gag Factory. C'mon, it's a no-brainer!
jsmall 12-12-2006, 08:32 PM Guys I saw this coming and i posted a while back, Check out the I button in the Esplanade ;)
Wow thx I didnt catch that
compadredude 12-13-2006, 03:25 AM correct me if im wrong but didn't yavn say they weren't done with tomorrow land i saw in another thread that it would take a long time to get a personal item just right so before u think it is going to be toon town think again it would take along time to make all those items for that land they couldnt make it that fast within two weeks so maybe that two weeks didin't mean anything at all with the new land pole well maybe just maybe at a later time plz post ur oppinion
camara 12-13-2006, 03:30 AM we all said/saw yavn said there is/probably will be a page 2, but then a few months ago yavn said people keep saying that and he has no clue what they're talking about. So, what ever happens, happens..
but i doubt its tomorrowland because its a new land, probably literally new not just a part of a semi-old land.
compadredude 12-13-2006, 03:32 AM true yavn did say that but think about lets all do that XP
gigarichard 12-13-2006, 03:39 AM The only thing I would like to know is where the new land will go on the main page when you first log on. Will they make all the pictures of the lands smaller or add a second page.......

a second page would be convenient for us, but odds are it could be a "walk through esplanade and figure out each hidden room on your own"
lol idk
AlexKeepsItReal 12-13-2006, 07:52 PM I just want a new credit paying game. Pirates is the only good one that doesn't get to repetitive. I want another game where players have teams and opponents, those are fun.
See.low 12-13-2006, 09:15 PM Perhaps a land based on Disney's Animal Kingdom? Who knows?
Well, as much as I'd like to See a New Orleans Square complete with Club 33, I think davidsplanet has it right. My guess for the new land is Disney's Animal Kingdom and I can't wait to See it!

disney_princess_92 12-14-2006, 06:23 AM no it is going to be epcot i can sense it :]]
how could it be epcot? VMK is based on Disney Land, so why would they add a Disney World Park? that would be incredibly fun though to have all the countries. i have never been to DL but i have been to WDW and the only difference between WDW and the vmk DL is there is no New Orlean's Square, but thats it so maybe thats whats goin in?

fun4life 12-14-2006, 06:32 AM ^^ Everyone is forgetting one important thing: VMK = Virtual Magic Kingdom, VIRTUAL. They have based it on DLR, WDW, TDL, DLRP and HKDL, so the new land must be something that you can find in one of more of the existing lands.
Maybe it's gonna be a mix of different themeparks? You know: (MGM) - Walt Disney Studio's, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Californian Adventure, Sea Disney,... all in one land.
prinsess_chloe 12-14-2006, 05:03 PM Me and my friend bbmg on vmk are looking for clues on vmk lol:) ( btw im new to vmkf so hi:) )
