Woot! Tomorrowland 8-9 pin for just participating! That is way too cool. I've been after that pin for quite a while now. Yipee! And credits for winners is an awesome idea. They spent a lot on the ride - why not reward them (and rather heftily at that!).

Congrats to all the winners. I hope you still have your rides because I'm gonna visit as many as I can over the next couple of weeks!

@_@.

Runner-ups & Winners are very lucky with the prizes.

& since the prize for all participants was the 8/9 Tomorrowland pin, everyone was extremely lucky. =]

Too bad I didn't participate. Maybe next time. =D

Congrats to everyone!

Congratulations to the four grand prize winners who actually got somthing good. For the rest of us, including the runners-up, we all got ripped off again. No suprise there. Even if you won you really didn't get anything worth a rock so in the future please post the prizes prior to the event so we all don't waste our time again for nothing.

Princessannanicole
12-08-2006, 08:17 PM
I know a lot of people on VMK have been looking for the tomorrowland 8/9 pin, it, along with the ATIS Eye, is one of the most desired, so a lot of people are probably really happy to have been rewarded so well just for participating. On the other hand, VMK just hugely reduced the value and rarity of the Tomorrowland 8/9 pin since they just issued over 1,000 of them, which is good for some and bad for some. It's good for people who wanted them and couldn't get enough to trade for them, or those who can now trade less for them since there are more of them out there, but bad for those who were trying to get really good trades for the pins.

Red space suit? Awesome. Congrats to all!

StitchMad
12-08-2006, 08:27 PM
Hopefully the red space suit will be un-tradable. Then people don't offer STUPID amounts of stuff for it.
Great... an orange tomorrowland. I felt special to wear it, another rare thing struck from my list.
NOTE: Red space suit will probably be avalible later next year. So if it is tradeable, do NOT give rare stuff for it. Sure... you'll look good for a while. BUT the DAKL room came out again. And the everest chair came out again. See where i'm coming from? ;)

Oh, super. Everyone who tried got an old pin! OMG WOOT! I Love old pins, when VMK is too lazy to make a new one! YES!

Sorry, I am a bit grumpy that only four people get something worthwhile.

But, anyways, congrats to winners. Some of them, I really don't think deserved it, but I'll keep that to myself.
But, alot of them really deserved it. CL_SillyQueen's was really the best I've seen in a long time.

I must say, though, that I am surprised not to see certain other players listed up there, as I thought they would be sure things! (And no, I'm not speaking of myself.)

Still, I'm glad that at least a few of my favorites made it to the winners' lists!

Heart congratulations to all the winners. I agree that the prizes should be awarded prior to the event so we may know what we are going for. It would "sweeten the pot" a little more knowing what is in store. VMK is very generous in giving out prizes but wish it could have been something a little more special than the 8/9 pin that has been in circulation since conception of VMK.

Thanks again VMK and again, good going to all the winners.

Well, it's still rarer than the other pins in its series. But I doubt it would go for much at all any more.

Looks like VMK has managed to give out a prize that everybody wanted but that now no one will want. How's that for irony?

correct. 30 more people now have the green rocket couch, but only 3 in the ENTIRE game have the red space suit.

I don't think the value of the green rocket will decrease at all because of this. There are only forty more of them in the entire game. The Tomorrowland pin, however, won't be worth much of anything any more.

I wouldn't worry too much about the red space suit being that rare. Look at all the past ride competitions.

All the prizes have been released that I can think of a while later, except so far this most recent team ride comp.

Animal Lodge room? Mountain Chair? Red space suit will be released eventually.

- Sigh - Congrats to all the winners, I'm sure you all worked hard and deserved it. Unfortunately I didn't win this time. Tommorowland 8/9? I'm happy because I get one but I'm also sort of mad because now it's not rare anymore. Just another rare thing down the drain.

Actually, I sense the green rocket already lost it's flair. Don't get me wrong though, it's nice to see that VMK rewards players with something nice. I just don't see why it has to be beta. What would have been nice is a pin created JUST for the event (like a Space Race 2006 pin, one color for particpating and other color for placing Top Ten). Even the Top Ten pin has lost it's symbolism now. There are hundreds of them floating around now (even though it's not tradeable). In a way, it's a HUGE slap in the face of many beta collectors or players that traded a lot for the orange tomorrowland pin/green rocket (in fact, I almost traded for another orange tomorrowland pin this past week). I have nothing wrong with the people that won. Those rides were awesome and they deserved it! The event was different and being individual made it more challenging. They even extended the deadline and made the rules so that you didn't have to waste your weekend keeping your room open. Kudos to VMK for that!! I'm just a little upset that VMK decided to RUIN the value of the trading system yet again.

Now with that said, the next question comes to mind is WHEN will the red space suit be sold?

SuperInfernoBoy
12-08-2006, 10:32 PM
Congrats to all the winners! I hope we get to buy the Red Space suit later.

Popularity has nothing to do with it. Staff judged EVERYONE (Well almost everyone; I've heard reports of a few who haven't). They picked based on who had the best ride, not who had the most friends.

People who don't win feel a need to blame someone so they blame judges and the players that win. It's like that for EVERY competition, VMK or not.

Wow - such agnst in the thread. We all knew that there would be only 44 "winners" in the competition. This was my first one and I have to say I had a blast. I feel like a winner just to have participated.

I was really surprised by some rides I thought would for sure make the list and didn't. I missed most of the winners, but I thought Silly Queens was awesome, so glad it won!
I really enjoyed the whole event. The only problem I have with these events both team and individual is the major cost of participating. I knew I wouldn't win, I just wanted to play and yet I still spent at least 30K on my ride, and I know I'm at the low end of the cost scale. Even for the fun of it, it's not worth being this poor at Christmas. I really wish they would cut the cost on the ride parts drastically. It's not like it costs VMK anything, so why make it so very expensive just for the fun of participating?

I'd like to see a mixed track competition next! I think a "build the best ride out of however many different track types you like" competition would be super fun! And past competitors could recycle!

And I agree with the idea an original prize would have been nice. Even quests get individual pins designed (Cats,Dogs, Mountains,Halloween, Feet, Ceiling Tiles...new quests = new pins) so why not the ride events?

For those of you with the blues, hope you feel better soon!

Really, thanks for your support, everybody, but I wasn't really expecting to win. After all, my ride, while fun, didn't really fit into any of the judging categories. I'll be sure to pay more attention to those the next time around. :)

Well I know I am on the forums.
I was a runner-up for the best overall ride experience. Thanks to all those who congratulated us. As of right now, they have not given out the runner up prizes. Also thanks to those who stopped by and visited my entry of the weekend, I hope you enjoyed it. I will be opening the space race Loweyan as often as I can over the coming weeks for anyone who wished to take a ride. But yet I have to say there were lots of great rides out there that did not get the nod, but I personally know that for every good ride out there I was able to ride over the past few weeks, there were probably 4 I missed. So If you see one of the winners open, go take a ride and see how good it was.

I also know that many people spent alot of money on this competition, personally my ride cost me over 25,000 credits, with some big help from Princesslillie :) (thanks!). So the 5,000 credits will help to pay for a bit of that lol.

But anyways, good work on all that participated. And have a happy holiday, and please feel free to stop by and visit space race Loweyan for a fun little trip!

Take care,
Loweyan

I'm now thinking that whole joke thing on the homepage was a joke in a joke. You see, they get us all scared by saying Tommorowland 8/9 is on sale. Then they say just kidding, we're all relieved but then they say everyone who entered the ride competition gets one. Too evil for VMK? I think not!

Thank you CaliDreamin,

Yes, My ride was open almost all weekend and Monday too. I only had one visit from a host or staff and that was from Hula to Judge on Friday night.

Thanks Polarfish for re-posting

You are welcome. Only special rides get me to use my special re-posting powers. *wink*

I have a question about the Tomorrowland 8/9 Pin...I did enter the contest, but I didn't do it because I filled the form in wrong. I did redo the form after I sent the first in, but they said they wer're accepting any with the form not filled out correctly. Yet today I look in my pin inventory and there I have a Tomorrowland 8/9 pin. Any ideas?

I now have five. I only had four before yesterday. So I got my participation token. Thank you oh so much.

And for those of you pointing out that the Animal Kingdom rooms and Everest chairs were later made available to everybody, and thus the red space suits will be available soon, I ask this: Where are the blue Blizzard Beach chairs?

Or the inferno pins since those were the grand prizes in the water ride competition.

I think the complaint of the Yeti teams is that -all- the prizes became available later. I was one of the members of the Grand Prize team, and the only rare thing we got was the Top Ten pin (as did the runners up). The slide teams got Inferno. A bit unbalanced.

VMK lives and learns, I suppose.

It could be worse.. We could get nothing.. They could have saved a lot of pins by not giving out a particitation prize..

They gave us the flag.

I'm just wondering why the Top Ten pin keeps coming out. Why not just make a Space Race '06 Winner pin?

A Space race 06 pin would have been really different and unexpected. I am on these boards....vmk title is Mystify_Me. The prizes are ok but i enjoyed more just seeing some really interesting rides out there. I wish i could have time to see more of them, so winner or not, try and keep them open for others to appreciate. And for those out there who think the ride competitions have to be costly, I used most of what I had just lying around in store rooms with the exception of the track. Congrats to everyone who built a ride...it's the journey in getting there not always the end result that counts :)

Congrats to all the winners, again!
Oh yes, and who is this in the picture, because then wouldn't there be FOUR in vmk, not THREE?

That is HOST_Sparky.

Four VMK players won them, but all HOSTs have them also.
