If you were a Disneyland cast member where would you like to work in Disneyland?

I would like to be a conductor on the Disneyland Railroad.

I've always wanted to walk around dressed up as Alice or Cinderella, taking pictures with a bunch of little kids. :) Cooking or waitressing at the Blue Bayou sounds fun, too. Then you can hang out in Pirates all day long. :D

A Ride Operator at Pirates! Now that would be awesome! I would talk like a Pirate boarding and un-boarding. Oh or being an imageneer! that way, if Pirates breaks down because of something, i'll be there! :D And Ideas for new Updates too!

Well now I would like to be a VMK host, but if it were in the park I would like to do something in the Fantasmic show and be able to end up dancing on the boat. :)

I spent many years in Tomorrowland Attractions before moving over to the Indiana Jones Adventure and the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes. I could not pick any better rides to work. I love the Indy movies, and have dressed as the good Dr. Jones for many Halloweens. And I love being outdoors, on the water, so the Canoes was a perfect fit.

A fun place to work. :-)

If you work in Attractions at DLR, you dont get to pick what ride you work at.

You do get (sort of) a choice of what area to work in, if there is an opening.

Then you get trained in whatever ride they need people at, then you work there, until you are needed somewhere else.
Eventually you will get trained in EVERY ride in the area. ( whether you want to or not LOL)


Like the Hollywood Area includes all of Fliks Fun Fair, Aladdin Show, Muppets 3D, Monsters INC, Tower of Terror, and the Animation Bldg.

If you want to do the Fantasmic Show, you can Audition to be a Character, and they are part of that dept.

You are correct.

All I was able to request was attractions. This was prior to DCA being designed (I miss my parking lot), and at a time when all young males went to either Jungle Cruise, or Submarine Voyage (where I started). They allowed you to create a "wish list", that they would attempt to grant, based upon necessity and seniority. Time and patience play a big role.

And the fun part. CROWD CONTROL!!!!

If you work Attractions , you WILL spend most of your time, not actually in your area. You will be doing the crowd control for fireworks and parades, and fantasmic. You know those people with the pink and yellow flashlights that everyone screams at? Those are actually Attractions Cast Members.

I am not trying to talk anyone out of getting a job at DLR, just pick your job carefully.

In all my years there, I only had to work 1 Fantasmic shift, and 1/2 of a Grad Night.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones. ;-)

I had So much fun. We did the blast off, in between the 2 parks!

I'd actually like to work on the Disney Cruise Line. I know it says DLR, but there is nowhere there apart from JC or VMK Central really :) Besides... the DCL rocks!! :)

If I had a choice it would be the Indiana Jones Adventure, but I would have to be sure I got enough sunlight sometime :) haha

I looked at the DCL job website and I think I remember it saying you'll work 70-80 hour work weeks. That doesn't give you much time for sleep or relaxing on the ship.

And, at WDW.. I think it is The Great Movie ride, correct me if I'm wrong, where there is a 'guide' and somewhere in the ride they get off and another person comes on as a bad guy, and such?

I want to be in the Dream Squad, and when that is over, I would love to be a Disney Imagineer.

Several things i wouldn't mind doing, pretty much in order from most to last (WDW, never been to DLR unfortunately):

Imagineering: MY LIFETIME GOAL
Tower of Terror Bellhop: I'd love to get into a full character and scare guests!
Haunted Mansion: sneaking behind guests in a dark room with no windows and no doors with an eyliner-laden face=priceless
Jungle Cruise skipper: lol i've already got my own jokes for that one
Pirates: I love talking like a pirate! lol
Great Movie ride tour guide: Acting out the gangster/cowboy scene would be so fun!

i would like to be a character (preferably in the fall, winter, or spring when it isn't like 1oo degrees outside). that has got to be the best job ever! my cousin was a castmember for ayear and worked in the fanasyland tink shop among other places....she said u need to pick a place that doesn't have a song that will get on your nerves after a while lol....:snow_cool:

For an awesome time, I would say a Haunted Mansion person, one who works the queue into the Stretching Rooms.

For work, I would say audio department for Frontierland/Critter Country.

For amusement, I would say a Skipper on the Jungle Cruise

I would completly love without a doubt working in Pirate's of the Caribbean. A simple job is 'How many in ye` party?' that's simple. But anways i never been to DLR but yes if i were to choose that'd be it. In any park they have that [: I love the outfits.

I would not want to be a CM for Space Mountain. You have to rush everyone out of there because if the ride is stopped for too long, it shuts down. Crowd Contol sound fun. Just pick up a light thing, wave it around "This way please". :D I would like to would on any other ride though. :)

I would love to be a Engineer on the Retlaw Railroads. Any chance I get, I take a tender ride up in front with the Engineer and the Oiler/Fireman up front. They're very nice to meet, and great explaining how the train works to kids!

One thing, that's working for Disneyland Resort Fire Department. While it's not as glamorous as being a Captain on the Jungle Cruise, or running the rides, I get access to any part of the park, I can watch the fireworks from some great vantage points and I DON'T have to work crowd control.

I would want to be a Jungle Crusie Skipper!! I love love to be able to be so close to "Water's bak side", and be able to crack all of those corny jokes and here all the sounds of the "jungle" all day long. Did you know, if any part of your body touches the water of the jungle cruise you have to be rushed over to DLR health care and get a tetness shot. lol

Plus, if your a jungle cruise skipper, you get to use a fake gun to scare off "Natives". lol

I would want to work in the costuming department. Making and maintaining all those amazing costumes. Coming up with ideas for costumes. Yeah..that would make me very happy!

If i worked DLR i would want to work at soarin mainly because I find the atmosphere and the color so relaxing for some odd reason.

Only Indiana Jones is in Adventureland. Pirates is in New Orleans Square, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is in Frontierland.

Well at the other posts around the park, you know what you will be doing. If you work at the HM, you will be ushering people into the portrait room with a creepy look on your face. If you work on the canoes, you will get really sweaty. If you work at Star Tours, you have the coolest costume in the park.

But...if you re-stock toilet paper in the men's rooms, you never know what to expect when you walk in there!

That's not the way it works.

Even custodial CM's have a job rotation.
No CM says in the same postion all day.

You learn all of the positions in the ride/attraction/restraunt etc, and then you get into a rotation.

That way, no one gets stuck running a cash register all day, or one person does get the "good job" all day.

Having actually worked both of those attractions, I would choose the Canoe outfit over Star Tours. Much more comfortable. And sure, you get really sweaty. But it's the best attractions job in the park, in my opinion.

I was a Disney Character for 13 years!

Each Person in the Character Dept, has a Height Range of Characters that they are allowed to perform.

If you are a girl that is 5"7, you can be Pluto, Buzz Lightyear, Eeyore,( and more) and if you are approved as such you can be Mary Poppins or Princess Aurora.

No one can do a Character that they are not in the height range for it.

Every single CM in the Character dept is REQUIRED to be a fur Character. Some of the old timers can request to do only a face, but there is No guarantee, and it is decided by senority.

Mouse height Characters are under 5'1.

There is a slight exeception. At DLR, you can audition to be a Dancer or Gymnast only, but you are not considered a Character, you wont be a "Disney Princess" you can be in the Block Party Bash, or other dance role in a parade.

I'm surprised no one has said they'd like to run the VMK booth.

I beg to differ, I have seen my share of crashed boats on the jungle cruise, mostly its newer skips who aren't watching where they are going.

Oh, and back on topic, if I worked at the DLR (again) I would definitely work on the WFJC. That attraction offers so much to the skippers who operate it, they are in full control of the experience. Unlike other attractions they dont simply push a button and send you off. They enjoy your company for what can quickly become the longest seven minutes of their lives. We once had a voyage that lasted just over two-hours. I'm glad I wasn't driving.

My advice is to put the land you want to work for on your application where it asks what position you are applying for. You will find out what attraction and what land you are in at the end of your first day or orientation. If you end up in a different land than you were hoping for, stay behind and ask the scheduling manager who will be there if you could possibly be transfered to a different land/attraction.
