Detectives are basically people who investigate around VMK to find players who are useing TDM and encoarage them to try a new place. Anyone can be a detective and a detective uses his magic for research

8) What does Treasure Detector Magic do?
Did you ever have a metal detector and use it at the beach? Sometime you would find coins and jewelry, sometimes cans! TD works the same way that sometimes you find credits and sometimes you find other cool stuff…and yes it’s possible that you could find Inferno!

So I'm guessing the more stars it is the better the odds of getting a better prize. So which brings me to believe that eventually this magic will be released as permanent but to a select few. Because if a 5 star always guarantees a inferno then the value would decrease. Can you say the TD will replace the usual Inferno prize?


I just compiled the results of yesterday's findings in this thread, and came up with:
Nothing - 59 ~ 32%
Hat - 37 ~ 20%
Fountain - 20 ~ 11%
Magic - 26 ~ 14%
2K - 17 ~ 9%
5K - 27 ~ 15%
Total - 186

These numbers are skewed because people are less likely to post when they don't win anything and more likely to post about a good prize.

I cross-checked this with the results of a thread on another site, where they were more diligent about posting ALL results, including nothings:
Nothing - 91 ~ 39%
Hat - 30 ~ 13%
Fountain - 26 ~ 11%
Magic - 31 ~ 13%
2K - 27 ~ 12%
5K - 26 ~ 11%
Total - 231

These results do not include a report of a wanted poster, a report of a flip hat, and two rumors about inferno.

My most reasonable guess is that you have about 45% chance of getting nothing and about 11% chance of winning each of the five prizes. If people were more diligent than I think about posting their nothings, then it should be closer to 40% chance of nothing and 12% chance of each of the five prizes.

Wow, thanks for doing this! This is cool! I can't wait until someone gets inferno! Tell everyone to go to difficult places, maybe better prizes there? And I have heard it is kind of like a magnet, so they should be near those tight spaces to see if they get anything really cool! Today I got a blue flying carpet chair in the Music Game Lobby, and I got kicked out of the room while using it in Explorer's Tent when I accidentally clicked on the exit, which then sent me to Lost Safari Party Room and killed the effect of the magic. Yea. It would be cool if it wasn't single-use magic. For Treasure Detector, what if the first time you use it, you get a pin, furniture, poster, and other magic. Then each subsequent time, you would get credits. This would be each day, so the first time you use it on that day, you would get rare stuff then for the rest of the day, you would get credits. But you can only use it five times each day.

To answer the question, I used my Treasure Detector in the Everest Guest room and got a Wanted Poster.

I'm saving mine until it expires. It's so pretty :o :D

I don't happen to think it's unpopular... I think people are just frusterated a bit. :)

And you're probably right. Seeing as how not many people know about it (a whole bunch of people in the Emporium were firing questions at somebody that just used Treasure Detector magic), I think this is jut a preview of what VMK has in store for us! ^_^

Besides, a permanent Treasure Detector magic pin would be too powerful. Better to have to work for your rewards, like with the Pirates keys.

Skull Rock rooms seem to be very lucky. I'll try it out ASAP. Especially considering I've never even saved up that much! Good thing I have about 50 of them!

The second was in the bazar hub south and I got a yellow light cycle.

I think it is a random cycle. This I find to be annoying. There should be a certain place where you get good stuff. It seems that is not the case.

You know for some odd reason I think everyday some room has really bad prizes or Really good prizes or Fantastic Prizes Like Inferno! or Magic you should not even get twice!

MichelleA I think you may be right. The prizes are given out in random by the computer and out of 10,000 there probably is one inferno pin. Then the choices start from the beginning again. (just my opinion) It's just like when you use the keys in the treasure room.

I just got my magic and used it Central Plaza. Oddly, all that happened was that I glowed and held a map. I walked around and stopped for a while and it disappeared. I didn't even get a single message saying I got nothing

Quite a few people did get 5000 credits with it today Snow White's forest. A close friend of mine did as well as several reliable people I know. I got 2000 in Injun Joe's cave lower levellast room. Yesterday I got a blue carpet chair up top in first cave room. I think it is random to a certain degree. It seems the first day quite a few people found Wanted posters Yester day a lot of nothing small prizes and low credits. Today Big credit was the order of the day.

It figures, I used mine in the hide and seek forest, and I found a blue aladdin chair, but to me better than credits ! :) The other one I used in central plaze a few days ago and I received nothing, The credits seem more likely than a snowman magic but thats just me :)

Great question Apple, pick one of the lands or a guest room to do the magic, once you pick a place stop and use the magic. Then you walk around the room hitting as many different spots as possible, when something is found it will stop you, and you will receive a message telling you what you have won, make sure you walk the entire time while you have the map in your hands to have better odds of finding something, the first time I used the magic I thought it would move me itself but of course it did not LOL :) If the magic does not stop you, then you did not find anything. Hopes this helps you and good luck in your treasure hunt!

i used mine yesterday at Central. I started at the popcorn stand and reached the left bench near the trolley tracks when i won a whopping 300 credits lol. my friend Chrislynne used hers last night in a pirate treasure room and got nothing, so i guess i should be happy with my credits.....

I got 500 credits in the treasure room and 20 credits in my football guest room.

Yes, but this raises an interesting question...Is it really ANYTHING that could be found? Such as inferno or a stitch hat.

If i get treasure detector magic today I'm going to use it in the magic room to see if perhaps the rooms have a direct effect on the prize.

I think you could possibly get green flips but then again, it is random, just like Inferno.

EDIT: I just asked VMK_Red and she thinks green flips is not one of the prizes.

It sounds like you're doing it right. You just have to keep walking around the room while the magic effect is going. I guess you were just unlucky.

I hope they have a treasue detecting pin for sale or something for like 5 time use. I really don't like the one time use idea. I don't ever use Coral magic untill it is like the last day. I just hold it. I forgot sometimes and like 3 of my coral magic went unused.

Yeah, the Coral Magic Single Use seems pointless to me. At least with the Treasure Detector you (usually) get something back when you use it.

No, sometimes you just don't "detect" anything. It's all random.

Yes, but that may have been before they thought of the idea of single-use magic. The original unlimited Treasure Detector idea may have been scrapped. After all, even if it were to take a full day to recharge, it'd be awfully powerful, giving you something for nothing every day.

one of my close friends got only 30 credits and walked around and everything that is the way the cookie crumbles i guess lol

I wouldn't mind if treasure magic was one star, could not be combined, and could only be used once every 48 hours. I wouldn't mind. Just as long as it isn't 1 time use. I hate that idea. Why do it once, if I want to do it more.
