Both of my mules used their magic in the new Epcot rooms they had just won. I got a big nothing and another sorcerer Mickey hat :)

i have heard that treasure detector gives you stuff just based on the room you are in when you use it..

Not really, it's very random. People usually get sorcerer the most tho, it's most common.

I went on all of my realitives accounts, getting the magic, then using it. But EVERY single time I've used the magic (5 times), I got Buried in Treasure Magic.

I got nothing on both of my accounts today. From what I've observed I've developed a hypothesis of what I think is going on.

Prizes seem to be "Planted" in certain locations in rooms. Once they are taken, they don't refill until a later date or time.

Example: I was in castle forecourt earlier today where two boys did treasure magic at the same time. they both won, one got 2000 credits, the other got Buried in Treasure magic. A third boy came along and got nothing-presumably because the boys there previously had gotten all the prizes in that room.

It's just an idea, I could be way off, but it just seems to make sense. Any room I've ever heard of somebody winning in before seems to NEVER work for me if I try it a few hours or even right after they win. It's like the prizes are "used up" for that room.

Having said that, if it was me, I would hold onto my TD magic for now instead of using it right away when everybody else is. Longer time for VMK to regenerate the prizes hiding in the kingdom and such. I should have waited instead of using them both today. :(

Again, this is just a theory, don't take it for truth...but so far it's proven correct for me.

I think it's just a random number generator, if for no other reason then that's about fifty times easier than programming prizes that reload into rooms.

She refused to show the pin, so I doubt she won it.

A few people claim to have found Green Flip, Inferno etc, but there is no proof of it yet.


I think that the credits have been raised since the first TDM pins were given.
The credits of less than 1000 were all found in the first few days of the ebay promotion( in December of 2006). All of the more recent credit finds have been at least 1000.

Why in the world are you complaining about getting so many credits? I'd much rather have those prizes than Buried in Treasure pins, which I can't even trade to my main account!

Nothing - 59 ~ 32%
Hat - 37 ~ 20%
Fountain - 20 ~ 11%
Magic - 26 ~ 14%
2K - 17 ~ 9%
5K - 27 ~ 15%
Total - 186

These numbers are skewed because people are less likely to post when they don't win anything and more likely to post about a good prize.

I cross-checked this with the results of a thread on another site, where they were more diligent about posting ALL results, including nothings:
Nothing - 91 ~ 39%
Hat - 30 ~ 13%
Fountain - 26 ~ 11%
Magic - 31 ~ 13%
2K - 27 ~ 12%
5K - 26 ~ 11%
Total - 231

These results do not include a report of a wanted poster, a report of a flip hat, and two rumors about inferno.

My most reasonable guess is that you have about 45% chance of getting nothing and about 11% chance of winning each of the five prizes. If people were more diligent than I think about posting their nothings, then it should be closer to 40% chance of nothing and 12% chance of each of the five prizes.

Not in the current round of TD pins. I'm aware that many found them during the Dreams promotion, but since yesterday, Lutari has been the only one who reported winning a wanted poster. Similarly, nobody has reported a Tron lightcycle from a pin obtained in the Epcot quest.

The Dream codes expired with a very short time frame, it was about 2 weeks.

However, I did see someone in the Dungeon use it, got nothing.

I used mine in a guest room and I got a sorcerer hat. However, since I already had one (bought it during Hat Month like, more than a year ago) I gave it to my brother, who was thrilled with it. Since he traded his for fireworks magic, which was later hacked away...

Let me see, guest rooms work sometimes. I used mine in a er...that guest room with the singing alligators. Someone else, one of my friends, used his in a Mark Twain room and got a Buried in Treasure magic.

At least I didn't trade for my sorcerer hat. It's not really that rare right now.

I hope they give more oppurtunities to get Treasure Detector magic though. It's fun to get stuff!

and some rooms give out credits
some rooms give out hats
and some give out furniture

As far as I know (AFAIK), it's not currently available.

Since Treasure Detector Magic Single-Use has come back out and been given to a few lucky people (me included), I feel like it is time to bump up this thread so people can tell what they got from the magic, if anything. Remember to list where you used the magic at (Main Street, Central Plaza, Adventureland Bazaar, etc.) and what prize you got (if any). :)

I was happy I got the answer right. I didn't know it so I just started naming every tiki pin in my inventory. I finally said Rongo and was ready to say another answer when Hula said "TravisSch is correct." :)

Nope, I left after a while. I was under the presumption that once a staff member came to a room, there was probably not going to be another staff member coming. So, I just went to another room, in this case, Disvaclub, and stayed there. :)

You could get Single-Use Treasure Detector Magic from the HOSTs last night if you answered one of their trivia questions correctly.

Previous prizes have included Sorcerer Hats, Wanted Posters, Lightcycle Couches, Buried in Treasure Magic pins, and various amounts of credits. But they could always add new prizes.

I have a feeling, There are going to give away lots of this single-use detector magic and at the end of the month give the unlimited use and add new prizes such as single-se flying carpet magic, single-use inferno, and any other unreleased magic!

i used treasure magic in my friend amythest's room and i got 5 grand credits. then i used another around the walt and mickey statue in castle forecourt and got nothing.

It works in guest rooms, yes. The best places to do the magic is in a smaller room since there is less space which gives you more of a chance to win.
