Same here! My sister and I waited until Christmas to use our second ones and both of us got nothing! :( (I used mine in Frontierland Hub and she used hers in Central Plaza. Both of us moved around the whole time we were using it too.)

So no reward for patience. Now I don't feel so badly about using mine right away.

I used my second treasure detector pin today. The first one I used when I first got it & blew it by accidentally leaving the room I was in.

But, I used my last one today in the Forbidden Temple because it seemed like almost everyone who used it there got something. I got 5000 credits! I'm so happy. I had just spent 5000 credits to get the snowman magic pin too - so now I'm just doing a little happy dance around the house!

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but no one was in the room when I used it & I got the credits when I was crossing the bridge over the water in there.

It was part of a contest on ebay from about a month ago. They gave vmk codes each day & some of them were for treasure detector magic. But they were only good for one use & most people didn't seem to get very much from them.

They don't release everything they test, There's a long list of yet-to-be-released items (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70870). Maybe it didn't test well, so they changed or scrapped the idea, and it will never be avaiable as originally conceived.

It's better than the Single-Use Coral Magic. At least with the Treasure Detector, you have a chance of getting something.

It did some like there were some trends though, but based more on the particular day. On any given day it seemed like people would consistently get "something" in a certain room or area, but maybe the next day no one would get anything there.

So, a list might be helpful to highlight any of those types of things. But, of course, that doesn't really help in the future, unless several people have already used their magic to determine where the "hot spots" are that day!

Within each room, there is a hot spot where the magic works. The spot where the magic was effective for you is the same spot that you can return to at a later time or your friends can go to. It may not always work each time it is tried, but will be seen to work again at a later time. I have tested this out and it is proven in more than one room.

It also looks like all the rooms must have this spot since we have seen most locations listed as giving out an item, credits, or magic.

I think it's safe to say that VMK rarely comes out with "something new." They don't even bother to release a "new" color of an item that's already out. Same old stuff, just recycled year after year.

I disagree and am very surprised you said that. We have seens lots of new items (Maze walls, Tron, Halloween bags, football stuff, candy canes to name a few) in the last few months as well as some items in new colors (red cowboy, brown haunted suit, heart chairs, space suit). I think they have just put in a certain set of items to be found with this new magic. Parhaps, it is still being tested to see how well it works. With the dreams promotion they were a limited number based on those codes. With this release there are many more in the system and being used. Just wait until this evening when everyone gets home and starts using the magic! I think once they are satisfied with how it works we will see more items or changing items for this magic. :D

Well, I didn't say they never come out with new stuff, but think of it this way: we knew about the Brown HM Suit, Cyan Heart Chair, Red Cowboy Outfits and Space Suits for a year or more before they were released. There is also a list of things that we all know about, but have never or will never see released to the public. They have never even released all of the magic we already know about, either. ;) When's the last time we got a brand new game, and not just a retread of the same games we already have?

Yes the Maze Walls and some Halloween/Holiday Items were new. However, what about the litany of items that have been released for a second or even a third time.

I'm not really dissatisfied yet, but if I were to play another year and have mostly the same stuff come out yet again, then things might be different. :)

I'm pretty sure that treasure doesn't show up in the same place.

One person walked one step, and got a sorcerer hat today in the treasure room. Then another person tried in the same place - nothing. Someone else, (still in the treasure room) tried it and got 5,000 credits, and then someone else tried it there, nothing. So, I guess it's just random. I also got nothing.

I used the magic in the Blue Bayou and got nothing.

Then I used it at the Castle forecourt and also got nothing.

This is the first time I've gotten the chance to use this magic pin and I have to say I'm not too fond of it.

So whare is a good spot to use it Town Square??

I think that the credits have been raised since the first TDM pins were given.
The credits of less than 1000 were all found in the first few days of the ebay promtion. All of the more recent credit finds have been at least 1000.
