Event Update
We are postponing the VMK Maze Event planned for September 9-12, but we'll be holding a Pin Trading Round-Up in its place. Here's what you need to know:

Set up your Guest Room for Pin Trading and invite others to join you!
The best pin trading rooms have a sense of fun and excitement, but are also well-organized. Show us your version of a rootin' tootin' pin trading room and you could win big!

When:
Friday, 3:00pm - 7:00pm and 8:00pm - 10:00pm Eastern
Saturday, noon to 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 10:00pm Eastern
Sunday, noon to 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 10:00pm Eastern
Monday, 3:00pm - 7:00pm and 8:00pm - 10:00pm Eastern

When:

Room name must contain the room owner's name followed by "Pin Trading" (example: VMK_Babs Pin Trading).
Rooms should be designed to make trading easy; no games, rides or teleporters please.
All players visiting a Pin Trading room, including the room's owner should be ready and willing to trade the pins they are wearing. If you have pins you don't want to trade, don't wear them.
Judging:

The room must be on the Popular Guest Rooms list to be eligible.
The room owner must be present to be considered.
Members of the VMK Staff will be visiting eligible Guest Rooms between the hours posted above.
There will be one winner for every hour of the competition. That means there are 19 chances to win!
Like last time, we will also be awarding one Grand Prize Winner for each day of the Event.
Previous winners are eligible to enter and win again, but must use a new room design to be considered.
All winners will be announced in the next Newsletter.
Special items in VMK shops:
To celebrate the Grand Opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, several Hong Kong items are in the shops. We also have some new costumes, for this weekend only. Be sure to check back on Monday for some One-Day Only Items!

Trade with VMK staff members:
Just like in a Disney park, VMK Staff members will be trading pins during the event. Any Staff member who is wearing a Goofy hat and is in a Pin Trading Guest Room will trade pins with you. If you see a VMK Staff member wearing a pin in a Pin Trading room, you can ask them to trade with you. If you see a VMK Staff member outside a trading room and/or not wearing a Goofy hat, please don't ask them to trade.

Some notes about trading etiquette:

Please ask a Player first if they would like to trade, and wait for a reply before sending a trade request.
When you're done trading, leave the room so someone else can get in.

Wha?! No maze?!

Only reason I can think that the Maze is getting pushed back is that. the Staff ran out of time to get it set up. Last evening is when things started to get placed and set. I know the Leaders that have been asked to help were working on getting their rooms done and set. So the reason i think is that the Maze just did not get finished with enough time to test it out. :) But I am sure they will still do it. :)

Unbelievable!! People are going to be so upset. I understand them not having enough time to finish setting up the rooms...but I'm so not in agreement with last minute replacement of another pin trading contest!! You've got to be kidding me. People have had no time to prepare rooms...I found out about it only because I was on and a friend mentioned it. And, that was at 3:10 and it had already started!! Gr.......

Well, come to my pin trading room if I ever have time to get on!! :(

dont worry......none of the staff members have even started looking at rooms from what i can tell.

and judging from last time it does not matter how well your room is designed, it just matters how much junk that clashes with the theme you put in there. just use a storage room lol.......

btw if you cant tell im being sarcastic and i hated the last event with a passion, therefore i hate this one twice as much......

I definately agree; I simply don't have the patience to sit and wait for someone to come look at my room. And what makes matters worse, I really like my rooms, but nobody visits them long enough to get me on the popular list. If we are to be judged on how well a room looks, then the moderators should just go from room to room, call up the information button, hit print screen, and move onto the next.

Just for the record, I HATE popularity contests.

Ok, where's Priz at to disagree with me? (just kidding Priz) :goofy:

On the contrary, that's why there have been threads on people saying they will pitch in, and help you get your room popular. As the old saying goes, "the more the better!" :mickey2:

Actually, I agree with you 100% on this one.

I've visited a few friends rooms to help them get on the board and get noticed - but almost every time I do I'm the second or third person in the room. I'm not joining myself - I have absolutely no idea what makes a "good trade room" nor what criteria they are using to judge them. I've seen two rooms that I find clever, but why they are clever is somewhat subtle and I doubt the judges will appreciate them.

I thought the Celebration and Space themes were more clever than the "pin trading" theme - and I think the rule change that required it to be on the popular list makes it clear why they missed so many people last time.

As for the maze theme? I think that was a disaster in the making. Unless the staff increased the number of people in their rooms, the lines to get into them would be upwards of 50 people and you would hear complaints all weekend. And I think it is poetic justice that this bug that we've been complaining about for weeks or months have finally bitten staff.

I am going to get yelled at for this but,I dont really care the maze got postponed.I am no good at mazes and I would rather help my friends get their rooms judged instead of getting lost in mazes.Sure, the pin trading event was last minute, but would you have rather had another parade?

You can't have a winning streak for too long, you know. ;)

That was last time.

And they don't give you the code. They give you the room itself.

Well, I'm going to recant on that. I had a sudden brainstorm of what to enter, so we'll see how it goes. Assuming I get the chance to actually sit there waiting.

The maze would have been normal player's rooms too. Not just staff's.
