***UPDATED 11/16/06***

Space Mountain Ride Event
Now Preparing For Liftoff!

Announcing the 'Build Your Own Space Mountain' Competition!

RULES AND REGISTRATION

The 'Build Your Own Space Mountain' Competition is coming to VMK! This is an individual room competition. The objective of the competition? Make the best Space Mountain ride you can.

Your ride does not have to be modeled after any of the real Space Mountains but you must use only the new Space Mountain Track pieces (that can be purchased from the Inner-Space Shop).

Have fun and be creative - you can decorate it or build it however you like, but again remember, you must use the new Space Mountain Ride Tracks. Registration for the 'Build Your Own Space Mountain Ride' Competition starts today (11/20) and ends on Sunday (11/26). Here are the rules:

* Your ride cannot exceed 3 rooms in length. This means you can either have 1, 2 or 3 rooms total for your ride.

* The Start Room for your ride must be named in the following way: SpaceRace PLAYER NAME.

Here's an example: SpaceRaceJoetheMouse.

Rides will be judged on the following categories, so keep these in mind when you're building your mountain: Best use of color, best theme, most creative and finally best overall ride experience.

10 winners and 1 Grand Prize winner will be chosen from each category.

Registration will be open Monday November 20th through Sunday November 26th. Only players that register exactly as instructed will be judged. Prizes will be announced after registrations have been closed and awarded after the competition has ened.

To register use the Contact Us Form.
Please INCLUDE ONLY your Player Name and on the next line, the title of your Start Room. Only the first registration will be accepted and multiple registrations from the same player will not be allowed. You WILL NOT receive a confirmation email about your registration and only registered players will be judged.

Give the following information, putting each item on a NEW LINE:

1. Player Name
2. Name of Start Room

PLEASE NOTE: Your room name must begin with 'Space Race followed by your player name. Again, here's a correct example to register. Only registrations following this format will be accepted:

ShrunkenNed
SpaceRaceShrunkenNed

Judging will take place between Friday December 1st and Sunday December 3rd. You are not required to keep your ride open during judging, but we hope you will keep it open during the event weekend so other Players can enjoy what you have created.

Now that you've had a chance to play with the new Space Mountain tracks are you ready to show us what you can do with them? Take your friends for a ride! Imagineer your version of Space Mountain using the track pieces provided in VMK. Have fun, be creative! Build it and they will come - you may even win!

usually they want your sign-in name, anyone know how it was done for the last competition?

Also they have no spaces in SpaceRaceMidien, and vmk does not allow me to put that? Little worried as they say must be exact!!

Then you will not have a chance of winning anything. Read the instructions again: it clearly says must ONLY use space mountain ride tracks.

Wondering how to register using the contact us form???
When entering your information using the Contact Us Form, the first panel you see is a questionnaire asking you to pick from a list of items that your question or comment may fall under.
Skipping down picking None Of The Above, you will finally be asked if you are sure that none of the above items answer you question or pertain to your comment. Choose "Yes"; meaning that I want to register and not make a complaint, or make any other comment or have any questions.
This will open a new window panel where you can type in the registration information needed for the registering for the competition.
On Two (2) separate lines, type in your info. See Below for example.

1. Player Name
2. Name of Start Room

I hope this helps with where to go on the Contact Us Form. This is how we used the contact us form in the last competition.
Have Fun and Best of Luck to All of You! :)

Ok here's a question... If you use the track switch so that each direction takes you to a different room...do you get 3 rooms per track and if the last room does not actually have a ride it is just where you get dumped off does that follow rules? (Example ride starts in A (if you do not switch track ) goes to B then dumps you in C (if you do switch track ) ride starts in A goes to D then dumps you in C......Legal???????

Do you have to title your room with you Vmk player's name?

AMPMLife

Hi Halfax,
I must make an update to the info I posted. After trying my best to make my start room title,
SpaceRaceAMPMLife, VMK would not accept the title. Hence, I rushed over into two different Host Rooms. Host Hula first. I explained to Hula that I was not able to make the room title SpaceRaceAMPMLife. She told me not to worry, go ahead and use Spaces between the words. as such.
Space Race AMPMLife.
Again, being a worry wort as I am, I waited till the next Host game with Host Phinny and I enter her room and told her the exact same information.
Guess what? Phinny told me the exact information that Host Hula told me. Use spaces between the words as seen above.
Space Race AMPMLife.
Now, here is my delimma... I did not ask Hula or Phinny how we should enter it on the registration form. Should we put SpaceRaceAMPMLife, or Space Race AMPMLife.
If anyone else has spoken to a host about this, please let us know.
We surely after all the hard work don't want to get it wrong and lose our chances in this competition because of an error in the registration.

Thanks very much for the info AMPMLife :)

When I entered by registration, it didn't say anything about the competition.
When I first typed it in, it said that nothing matched it. But I kept looking around and eventually it said that it was accepted.

I hope I did it right.

Oh some great detective work their AMPMLife, good thinking to ask the hosts! I think I will put for the registration exactly how they say, with no spaces, as that is the most important thing to do!

I went to other.. but it wouldn't let me send it.

I clicked continue, clicked no for "Did the FAQs answer any of your questions?" Or something like that, and then it said "Enter your problem in the place below"

So I sent it in that way, did I do it right?

Same here, is there a special option or do we use the other option? I think it bites that we are not getting a confirmation that we are registered.

And I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter, they'll hopefully just delete those and we can register in the new category.

Don't register.

VMK_Red said later on there will be a section in Contact Us to send in your registration.

Personally, I think it looks like VMK_Red doesn't really know either.

I think this may be an example of the right hand of VMK not knowing what the left is doing. And I agree, it's a bit annoying that we don't get a confirmation. A simple automated response would do, especially considering how much confusion there is over how to simply enter.

We have all week to register, so I'm holding off until they fix the (assumed) typos in the instructions.

This is what I'm inclined to do as well, but I am worried that they will only accept so many entries. Although they didn't SAY there was a limit, VMK has been known to provide incomplete info. Like right now, for instance. ;)

Who knew that signing up for a competition would be so difficult?

So. The newsletter said to do the following;
JustAnotherRegret
SpaceRaceJustAnotherRegret

But, for the Contact Us signups, they want us to do this;
1. JustAnotherRegret
2. Space Race JustAnotherRegret

Like someone said earlier in this post, Phinny and Hula said to put spaces in the title for now, but neither them or the newsletter clarified how to do the sign up properly.

Goodness >____>".

This makes me furious.
First of all, VMK says nothing about where to register at. (meaning, which category to select)
Second, they don't tell us how to write it all down.
Now that I've signed up the way "Some people from here" told me to, and I've probably lost my chance to enter.

I was Face-to-face with VMK_Red, and I asked her if it would be ok if we entered our registration in the wrong spot. She said: "Cool, I am not sure."

I mean, come on, it's not our fault that we put it in the wrong spot. They didn't tell us where!

Sorry if I am flaming or whatever. If I am, feel free to delete this.

xKawaii
11-20-2006, 07:42 PM
Okay, well now it's official that VMK wants us to put spaces. But that still doesn't speak for the numbers in front. For those who did sign up with no spaces, I'm sure that those who work at VMK are intelligent enough to understand that they made a mistake with letting the sign ups out before making sure the newsletter made 100% sense. Surely everyone who entered along those lines made it in.

ihope.
