Just Some Of the Basics
:)I have decided to make some information about the basic that you can find in one forum instead of posting your own. If you have questions, PM them to me. I only accept questions about Windows XP computers or Windows Computers. :)
Q&A’s:
Q: When I got my new computer the homepage was _______! I really want it to be ______, how do I change it?
A: Congrats on the new computer! To change your homepage go to the webpage (if you want VMKF’s to be your homepage go to the site if you want google to be your homepage go to that site, ext. ). Then go to:
Tools (Top Bar)> Internet Options (Bottom of Panel)> At the top there is a bar that says home page, in that white box type in the URL (link) to the homepage. Then at the bottom of the panel hit APPLY then hit OK. If you would like to check if this works go to another website that looks COMPLETELY different (such as Google) and click the HOUSE on the bar that is next to BACK.

Q: When I try and play VMK it won’t load! What do I do?
A: Either you have too much stuff loaded on to your computer and you need new memory or they are working on VMK and it’s closed for a while. Something you could try doing is opening your firewall (If you are to do this ONLY go to VMK, it could be mean danger otherwise..) and try playing. If it shows that NO players are playing then it could mean they are fixing it up, the bugs I mean. Or if you have tried to log on to many times, take a break. VMK sometimes doesn’t allow you to try again. It may think that you are trying to use a Mule. Hope this helps!

Q: Is there a quick way to refresh the page besides going up to click on it?
A: Yes, and a very good question! Most people don’t know that if you press F5 then it refreshes your page, I find it very helpful.

Q: Eeek! My text is so small all of the sudden! How do I change it?
A: If you have a hard time seeing I suggest BIG font, but I warn you, it may look ugly.
View>Text Size> Smallest, Small, Medium, Large, Largest
I personally use Medium and I wouldn’t use anything else!
Q: I AM SO FRUSTERATED! I can’t get in to ANY rooms and the Host events are about to start! WHAT DO I DO!
A: Settle down! If you have to may things running at a time that will automatically slow down VMK. Then if you have to may sending you messages in VMK or typing them (If you are stuck in a room) then I would delete the messages that people sent you (after reading them!) then log off quickly. Then log back on and it will be better. Hope it helps!

Q: How do I delete cookies? They are attacking me O_o
A: Get a shield first of all ;). Okay go to Tools>Internet Options> Delete Cookies (Middle row). There ya’ go!

Q: How do I add folders to my favorites list?
A: Favorites>Organize Favorites>Create Folder>Name It Something of your Choice> Ba-da-boom!

Q: I just downloaded some toolbars for a site but, I can't see them! What do I do?
A: I have a couple answers for this one. First of all, you could have not fully installed it so it is not showing up. If you don't know if you did or not go to: Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and look for it.
Second, go to View>Toolbars> Then click on the one you want if it doesn't have a check mark by it.

Q: Ugh! My animated avatar on VMKF's doesn't work! What do I do?
A: Right click on the avatar when you have uploaded it. Then go down to Properties and see the little place that says "Number x Number"? That's the place that you can see if your avatar is to big. If it is 65 or over (65x65) then it will not work. But, if it is (64x64) 64 or lower then it WILL work.

Ctrl+R is another way to refresh I'm so used to using Ctrl shortcuts, I'd rather use that that F5 :o

Copy - Ctrl+C
Paste - Ctrl+V
Select All - Ctrl+A
Ctrl+X - Cut
Ctrl+Z - Undo
Ctrl+B - Bold
Ctrl+I - Italicize
Ctrl+U - Underline
And if you're using an internet browser that has tabs...
Ctrl+T - Create New Tab
