Juneau 09-10-2005, 12:49 AM *claps* THANK YOU SIR FOR PROPAGATING MORE POINTLESS LABELS! *claps* Pointless indeed. So far all self-labelled "goths" I have seen around VMk are just Mini-moshers and pop-punks. I hate to say it to these guys, but they are trying to be something their not. I should know what one is because I am a self-confessed "goth", who doesnt like Slipknot or GreenDay. (One is Nu-metal, the other pop-punk..both are the other end of the spectrum from the music I listen to and the same goes for my self-confessed "goth" friends.) *tries not to sound mean* Don't label yourself on a place where there are bound to be the real deal walking around. Its like saying you're the only mouseketeer left from the time that Britney Speers was one...which could be true but more than likely isnt (since all people here are meant to be under 15) Green_Day_Lover 09-10-2005, 05:31 PM ur trying not to be mean? we just want to have fun! if u dont no wut that is then i suggest u look it up... Juneau 09-10-2005, 10:54 PM ur trying not to be mean? we just want to have fun! if u dont no wut that is then i suggest u look it up... I also try to have fun...but seeing teeny-boppers everywhere trying to be something they are not is kind of hard not to comment on. I told my friends there were Goths on VMK and they signed up..but when they saw the signatures (I am not joking) they burst out laughing. Sorry to offend you, but if those bands are as heavy or as expressive as you get you should look up the meaning of Goth. I suggest starting with The Goth Bible by Nancy Kilpatrick. It is THE tome for finding out about Goth. eg. "Kindergoth aka Baby Goth. These are 16 and under goths pressured from every direction-parents, school, religion, community- not to be goth, but to "conform" and be "normal". MAny kindergoths are huge fans of Marilyn Manson, since [he] seems to speak to them". Thats taken from the book, and in my eyes is true. most under 16 "goths" like Manson..but he is not a "goth" as such..he is industrial shock rock..since the genres overlap he does count. PLEASE read that book before telling me to look up fun, or I may have to tell you to look up "cynicism" "sarcasm" and "patronising" (Im cynical that these are goths. Its sarcasm im using now. And its patronising what you just did) daviedude 09-11-2005, 02:30 AM I also try to have fun...but seeing teeny-boppers everywhere trying to be something they are not is kind of hard not to comment on. MODS Please close this thread as it is completely pointless and not needed. Becky 09-11-2005, 02:59 AM There has been a mini-battle in this thread, but they only stated POV's, and it shouldn't be closed just for that. It's not spam, daviedude was saying thanks for coming to his "goth dance". I've created a thread or two stating how fun a dance/closing party or something was, and nobody said the thread should be closed. It's not necessarily pointless, Xfan. -Becky Kobolos 09-11-2005, 08:43 AM Pointless indeed. So far all self-labelled "goths" I have seen around VMk are just Mini-moshers and pop-punks. Moving on. Regarding the MMC, Perhaps a more appropriate tag would have been Lisa Whelchel from the 70's revival...as unless you were actually around in 1979 or at least in by 1985, you're just kidding yourself...None of the people walking around on VMK saw Joy Division in '79 or even New Order after Ian's death for that matter...and regarding this Fourth Generation Goth, why would you want to do something your uncool parents were in to anyway? (And if we want to be technical, anything past 711 CE is not Goth.) Myself? I'm a Hun. That's a revival I want to see. daviedude 09-11-2005, 12:06 PM i know this has been a bit of a rant and rave fest but srry i dont like seeing ppl get beat on for what they believe in and thank you Becky i could not agree more lets see why this thread started this way, i had an unexpected dance party that ppl showed up too and then i posted here, when what to my wandering eyes appear but someone who was put on this earth to critisize ppl oh well you cant plz them all. Kobolos 09-11-2005, 12:18 PM So the question is, at this dance, when it was all said and done...was there cake? http://i15.****************/albums/a374/brimstonewitch/000996sq.jpg Green_Day_Lover 09-11-2005, 04:03 PM I also try to have fun...but seeing teeny-boppers everywhere trying to be something they are not is kind of hard not to comment on.
