View Full Version : Welcome to Space Month!
NASAMan 11-01-2006, 02:06 PM Greetings fellow space farers! Welcome to VMK Space Month! Although we might have some competition with the Holiday overlay on Main Street, this month promises to be packed with new items, pins, and some surprises!
First off, how would you like to send you name to the the Asteroid Belt? No, for real! Just visit the NASA Dawn Mission (http://dawn.jpl.nasa.gov/) site, click on the 'Send You Name' banner and put down your name. Even though this is a government sponsored official NASA site, kids should ask permission from their parents before putting their real name. If you want, you can put your VMK name! And don't forget to print out your certificate! (P.S. I have moderator permission to link to another site, don't link without it!)
New games, events, and new ride track gives promise that we will boldly go where no peep has gone before! Check back here for more news and info during the month!
PolarFish 11-01-2006, 02:25 PM Where is this from? :)?
BnyKty 11-01-2006, 02:29 PM I do not really understand this...
PolarFish 11-01-2006, 02:30 PM Yes, could we have some details please?:D
JustOh 11-01-2006, 02:32 PM This month is space month :) He is linking a site to NASA (Our Space Crew) for some fun space themed things:StitchBounce-1: :icotteleport:
(straight from newsletter)
Space. The Final Frontier?
Sneaky players that peeked ahead on the Calendar noticed a rather spacey theme for November. So I guess it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out November is Space Month - but the real news is we'll be kicking off the celebration with a 3-day Space Mountain Ride-A-Thon!!!
That's right, we've created a brand new set of ride tracks, but we have more exciting new twists - join us November 3rd, 4th, and 5th and win special track pieces -- before they go on sale! But that's not all, we'll be blasting off the month in style with an Individual Ride Building Competition! (More details are coming soon, until then hold on tight!) So hop on Space Mountain this weekend and ride to win! Itching to see some of those tracks?...
Win cool track pieces BEFORE they go on sale - it all happens in the Space-Mountain Ride-A-Thon this weekend, Nov. 3rd, 4th & 5th.

But if he is just linking to a site, where would he have gotten this info:
New games, events, and new ride track gives promise that we will boldly go where no peep has gone before! Check back here for more news and info during the month!
JustOh 11-01-2006, 02:37 PM No that site is just for our enjoyment and education, he got all VMK news from the newsletter from October 30th
PolarFish 11-01-2006, 02:39 PM Yes i must be stupid, but i cant find anything about new games in the newsletter.
This is what he said:

SpinMarty 11-01-2006, 02:43 PM Check back here for more news and info during the month!
Maybe this ^^ sentence is the clue.
Back on topic - NASAman has provided a fun NASA resource for forums members during space month. Enjoy!
Acepowerboy 11-01-2006, 03:00 PM Yes i must be stupid, but i cant find anything about new games in the newsletter.

Look in the VMK Calender it tell you about the new Host games
WisePrncessSophie 11-01-2006, 03:29 PM Yes!
My name is traveling aboard the Dawn spacecraft
on its mission to the Asteroid Belt.
That sounds so cool. What's even cooler? - It's true!! Try the link to the NASA website, which is at the beginning of this thread, and send your name into space. Like NASAman said, you can use your real name or your VMK Name, it works either way.
I printed out the official certificate it made. Use nice paper if you want to save it!
NASA is accepting names until November 4, 2006.
Happy Space Month!

Who's going to be out there to read it?
NASAMan 11-01-2006, 11:44 PM Who's going to be out there to read it?
That's the idea! One of you may become the Astronaut who will travel out there and retrieve it!
Some seemed confused about my statement on new games, events, and ride tracks. This info comes from the calendar that lists new Host games starting today, the new track that Yavn leaked to us and the ride event this weekend to get pieces before they are released.
I would have cleared this up earlier but I just spent the whole day at Johnson Space Center working with the astronauts on the upcoming educational programs for their flight. Sometimes the real world interferes with our virtual one!
Go boldly!

Go boldly!
Johnson Space Center rocks! It's even cooler than Kennedy Space Center. (We saw both on the same trip. Then we went looking for a Nixon Space Center, but I don't think there is one.)
Neoteny 11-02-2006, 01:30 AM Ahem, I work at KSC! LOL!Hey, nothing against Kennedy: That was really cool. Johnson was just more fun and had more to do and see.
camara 11-02-2006, 01:37 AM wait, so my name is now going to space? HOLD UP, i might have to go to space and get it?
Neoteny 11-02-2006, 01:40 AM wait, so my name is now going to space? HOLD UP, i might have to go to space and get it?
If they send your name into space, we'll have to find something else to call you until it gets back!
NarniaDante 11-02-2006, 01:44 AM I can't find the send your name banner!
NASAMan 11-02-2006, 02:18 AM I can't find the send your name banner!
Go back to the first post of this thread, click on the words 'NASA Dawn Mission', and then look at the banner above the picture of the terchnicians working on the Dawn space probe.
And, as WisePrncessSophie said, it ends Saturday Nov. 4th! So don't delay!
SuperInfernoBoy 11-02-2006, 04:20 PM Great Thread Nasa Man! This month must be exciting for you, space cowboy!
Woot!
