Well, with the release of the pins attached to virtual prize cards, I can see an interesting development evolving.
It seems that Disney's marketing department wants to cash in on VMK's success. I can see why as it would bring them tremendous revenue! With that said, that means prizes of virtual items obtained at the parks that were once free, may not be free anymore. We will now have to buy them. I am sure that quests with free virtual prizes will still exist but that only benefits Disney in that those quests get you to the parks.
Now, in addition to quests, we can buy virtual VMK items too! But, we also get a pretty pin with that virtual prize. So, if I want 10 virtual pirate items, does that mean that I have to buy 5 pirate boxes at $14 each? If you do the math, that means I would have to spend nearly $70 for thise 10 items...Plus, the items are random...Ouch! Hmm..better start saving up for that, then...Plus, where am I going to put all those lovely pins? lol
Pretty soon I can see Disney selling packages of cards (like baseball cards) with a random virtual prize card in them.
I still have not decided if this is a good thing for us, the VMK player, yet. I just do not have the capital for a trip and then a bunch of pins...
I do have to applaud the Disney marketing strategy. VMK has turned into a very powerful marketing tool/game/online world. It has rekindled my love for Disney and made me book a trip to DLR...and now I may just have to book a trip to WDW also for those pirate pins/virtual prizes!
Thoughts?

p.s. Does this mean that having a ton of VMK items in VMK means that we are really rich in real life (so as to afford buying all the virtual cards) and not that we are just good traders in VMK?
