View Full Version : Individual? Impossible!
Exoxus 10-31-2006, 01:30 AM I posted this on another big fansite, and I got some interesting replies, one from Yavn himself.
I really dislike this 'individual' ride thing. I had an entire team planned, a plot, even the main room was half done! Then, VMK goes and says it's individual ride event.
This got me angry, but then I got thinking. If by individual, they mean 1 person teams, then how is a VMK Staff Judge team going to judge them all? If each team for the last event had around 15 people, and there was over 250 teams, then how is a small team of judges going to judge over 2000 rides!? That doesn't make sense!
Does anyone else have any ideas about what they mean?
I don't really care if you believe me or not, but here.
This is what Yavn had to say:
Just wait and you will find out more...no need to get worried yet...

What do the VMKF people think?
Zebraa 10-31-2006, 01:32 AM Where did they say anything about an individual ride event? All I saw was a ride-a-thon event.

camara 10-31-2006, 01:36 AM Where did they say anything about an individual ride event? All I saw was a ride-a-thon event.
somewhere in the newsletter it says 2 ride events:
1. the staff one this weekend, giving us the chance to see what the new pieces are like, any other surprises we will see (such as new rooms and furniture, some new furniture items are already in the picture).
2. individual player's ride events
as i mentioned in some other thread, they had about 200 teams just with anywhere from 6-20 people on a team. Here, it's probably the same situation, just one person instead. Overall, 200 rides still, but only 200 people. Something like that.

Hmm, I didn't see that, but other than a single event, which I don't like at all, i don't know what else it could mean.

Oh ok. Maybe there's a new definition of 'individual', cuz that's crazy XD
Skaterooni 10-31-2006, 01:39 AM I'm REALLY excited this is individual, no problems with connecting rooms.
I am really excited to break out my creativity on this next competition.

Exoxus 10-31-2006, 01:39 AM Overall, 200 rides still, but only 200 people. Something like that.
I find that pretty unfair that only that much people can participate..
Kaironzet 10-31-2006, 01:42 AM I find the idea of having an individual event really thrilling, amusing and innovating. Why? Most of the creative brains from VMK that have supplied their teams in the past with wonderful ideas will be now able to create a full ride of their own with the thoughts they have and make it as they were thinking to, and not really have different adaptations from different team mates.
However, this is also a cons, as less ideas are brought up to be discussed and implemented, plus, not everyone might get enough stuff to build their ride. Anyhow, knowing VMK, I'm pretty sure they've thought of this already and do have something in their minds. They will be probably be making something super easy for us to get material to get working on our rides.

lol im just guessing thats whats going to happen, i'm not saying that i agree that only 200 out of the over 1 million signed up (around 4-6 thousand on at a time, as ppl log on/off) can participate. I'm only saying that its probably going to be like that due to the fact that they cant have millions of rooms to be judged.

Yea, it IS a good idea, because your idea & opinion are the superior in your own ride. I just hope they make the items a whole lot cheaper if we're on our own, because, credit-wise, I'm poor in VMK q:
LadyMaria 10-31-2006, 01:49 AM Well, i'm waiting for a new definition of Individual. So far, I've got

Yeah, I can't make a ride on my own! LOL
I'd be really upset if this is the case, because then all "my hopes, my precious plans, my glorious dreams" would all be down the drain before you could say The Pumpkin King.
camara 10-31-2006, 01:52 AM well this upcoming ride event from staff is friday, saturday, and sunday. correct? Well, that will be our chance to get 3 items, most likely forward/normal pieces, up pieces, and down pieces. Then, we will just have to buy teleporters, a few ride start pieces (most likely one, lol), and possibly a few of the ones that were ride-event prizes, incase we need a few more.
overall, it equals out. On top of that, maybe a game like the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon game will come out, helping us even more.
GenieLovato 10-31-2006, 01:53 AM I have ONE QUESTION how do you enter?
Because just work double hard bc if you play fireworks and your good at it you get 1,300 which is quite a few pieces but then you have to buy that FURNISHING THAT COST ALOT lol...
But that Stinks I was gonna start my own team :(
Neoteny 10-31-2006, 01:57 AM I just hope they're still giving out the Top Ten pins, as I don't have one yet.

Indeed, what I tried to mean. Sadly, it's a bit tough to put up all together by your own. At these moments, having little minions or robots working for you in VMK wouldn't be bad xD. Hehe, you just buy the stuff and instruct them, then they build the ride for ya, lol.
I'm still intrigued by what could VMK do to reduce costs and make the rides able to be done in time. My best thoughts right now are that VMK will reduce the max rooms limit per ride to 5 - 10, and, in this way, they will be surely reducing costs of the participants, plus, it makes it a bit easier to put the ride together. Together with that, who knows how easy or how hard will it be to get in the "Ride-A-Thon". VMK has surprised me every time with their way of creating these rooms that are supposed to be fast access. Some have been extremely fast; to the point I've clicked the rooms and I did not have to make a line to get in (if I'm not wrong, this happened to me a lot during the Everest month).
Maybe they've got something to surprise us that they incorporated to their system to enable the faster movement through queues. As Yavn has previously stated, their system has been upgraded to enable the Quest Machine, meaning their newer version of the engine they use enabled the use of these. This could point at VMK having another update of their engine, which would enable a new system of doing queues we could have never even thought of!
Ok, well, I'll stop daydreaming for a bit..

KEBSD 10-31-2006, 02:02 AM I wonder...
Maybe they would let participants choose 10 items that they want for their room (items from a list...) and they would get those 10 things. But that is highly unlikely :p

Neoteny 10-31-2006, 02:03 AM I say we just stop worrying about it and see what happens. I'm sure they have a plan.
