View Full Version : VMK/Web Browser Problem
Thark 10-14-2006, 02:55 PM I just bought a new Dell Inspiron E1705.
It has a 2.16 Ghz Processor, 2 gb ram, 120 gb hard drive.
I installed Shockwave.
Everytime I try to play VMK it will load, log in, and then and unexpected error will hit IE. This happens everytime and i tried it about five times.
I then decided, hey why not fire fox, so i installed firefox, it told me to install Shockwave again so i did. Now everytime i play vmk in firefox it will load, log in, i will be able to play for a little while and then vmk will freeze. Nothing else will freeze, i could go web surfing or anything else, but VMK will be in a permanent freeze until i close the window. This has happened everytime i played vmk also. Most of the time it was in pirates, but other times i was in a friends guest room.
I was thinking about opera and i downloaded it and installed it, but the vmk homepage wont even fully load.
Thank You,
Thark
F0REVERL0ST 10-15-2006, 03:43 AM Sounds to me like a Shockwave issue, but I am not completely sure..

That's not your computer's problem that opera won't load the homepage, for some reason opera dosen't load the VMK homepage.

I recently bought this exact laptop, with 1.83 GHz processor and 1.0 Gb of RAM. While I don't have IE problems with vmk, Firefox reacts the same way for me that it does for you. I can play for a while, and then for no good reason, it freezes up on me and I have to restart Firefox.
...at least the screen is rather large, no?...
Thark 10-15-2006, 07:06 PM Thanks for the responses.
Right now it does sound like a Shockwave problem. I uninstalled all my browsers and then reinstalled them. After they were all reinstalled i installed shockwave. It seems i cant use a new window, because i am using the shortcut in the main window to play vmk. So far it has been working ok.
Maribeth 10-16-2006, 10:27 PM You may want to try some of the other compatible browsers JeremyV has put into a list in this forum. I'm not sure what the problem is, except that it is most likely not a browser problem if you cannot play bug-free in any browser. If you just downloaded Shockwave, it may be the problem. I recently downloaded the update for Shockwave and it made my VMK do waht you described, although I hadn't tried it in another browser, because it had only done this after I got the new shockwave.
I will say using ****** won't help because it accesses VMK through Internet Explorer.
Good luck,
Maribeth
