View Full Version : Backspace!

I have a problem with the Backspace key. On my lap top and other CPU if I type something in game and try and use backspace it takes me right out of the game. Is there a setting somewhere I have to change or something? It has become very annoying. I have been in a host room 2 or 3 times now when I have made the mistake of trying to talk and mess up.

Thank you for your help!

I was asked to come and help but I am not incredibly computer savvy so I will be of no use. I'm sure there are others on the forums that can help you.

Good luck,

There is not an RC2. It is only RC1. Look here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx).

I just upgraded from Internet Explorer 6.0 to the new version 7.0 RC1 today.

And now I have the same problem as most of you, my Backspace Key does not back out the letters, it functions as a HotKey and takes me back to the login screen.

This is unacceptable !!!

I can't find any help or support for this problem at Microsoft.com either.
But I see people have listed in their forums this problem.

Thanks and see you out there,
TheLittlePrince

Odd, since (completely off the subject) I've lately had my space bar misfiring and refusing to work in conversational typing--

I have to open a piece of scratch text and type a few spaces there, and it works again after that, but sounds like two symptoms of a common problem for the site.

Issue: How to Disable Backspce key

I am sorry to say you that we do not have an option to disable
this keyboard shortcut as this is built in feature of the Operating
system.

DELETE and BACKSPACE do the same thing...

DELETE and BACKSPACE do the same thing...
DELETE and BACKSPACE have the same purpose: to remove information that you typed/pasted. They are used differently though: you highlight the object then hit delete/backspace to remove it. Pressing BACKSPACE will move the cursor back one character and remove any object it was next to.

In this case, this is what's happening: say for example I mispell the word, "DISNEY." I actually type "DIZNEY". When I press BACKSPACE to delete the word I am logged out of VMK and sent back to the sign on screen. In order to correct the spelling, I need to highlight the word "DIZNEY" and press the DELETE button, not BACKSPACE. At this point I can type a new word. The probelm with this is that it's very time consuming, especially if you're talking to somebody or playing a game.

I am getting this error as well. From what I read, it's the new version of IE that is doing this. Is this correct? And if it is, what must I do to correct it.

Thanks!

you must uninstall the new version

beta 2 does not have the issue but the release canidate does

it made me mad bc i am not good at spelling

it takes me for ever to type on vmk and half my words flash

just uninstall the new version and install the old version

i use version 7 beta 2

Depends on what type of Internet ye be usin. The problem probably is either:

1.Your internet is newer or has been dis-connected and only people who had it have it and have not many controls. Or

2.Your keyboard might have wires not working properly. Check it by taking it to a Computer Fixer/Web-master.

Those are not a reason for this. We have gotten the reason figured out and I have posted it too.

Let the page finish loading before you start typing! That is what happens to me all the time. I can get started typing then hit backspace, and have to re-type it. The space bar problem is usually solved by just simply re-starting your computer.

As said in a previous post in this thread. If you are running Internet Explorer RC1, the backspace is a permanent SHORTCUT key. Until Microsoft sends a fix or patch or something else to change this, it will remain a shortcut key. Its purpose to to send you back. Its not really an issue, except for people playing vmk.

Also as said, go to beta 2 or 3, or find a new web browser like firefox.

You might want to download the BRAND NEW IE7. There are no more beta's or RC's. Now it is official!

if you are having problems with this the make sure that your cursor is in the text box befor you hit backspace because backspace is = to hitting the back key so you go back into the login part of vmk. to avoid this use delete button.
