View Full Version : Year of a Million Dreams
Jeeps 10-04-2006, 12:24 AM Hey guys, I was curious about the Year of a Million Dreams.
Do you think it will be better or worse than the 50th celebration? I didn't realize that they were doing work on the Living Seas
Zebraa 10-04-2006, 12:33 AM OMG! That's so awesome; I would LOVE to sleep in Cinderella's castle and watch the people roam around the park. I never even knew anything was in there.
MagicStarPower 10-04-2006, 01:57 AM I got a special invitation to go for free due to the fact that I'm a share holder. It should be awesome!
It surely will be awesome.
mickeysfriend 10-07-2006, 10:51 PM We just got back from WDW. We happened to be in the right place at the right time. Yes, my friend and I got a dream - woohoo! After we loaded into Star Tours, the Dream Team entered and passed out Dream FastPass lanyards. It was the equivalent to having an instant FassPass for each attraction that offered them within that park only. On the way out, they also passed out Dream Mickey Ears to people nearby (blue cap beanies that have white clouds and silver mickey ears). It definately brightened my day!

Actually, when they were building the castle, they made a room for Walt's family to stay in,Unfortanetely,Walt died of heart cancer before the park opened in with the room in the castle.
I also think LOTS of new changes will come in the next 15 months. I have heard lots of stuff and ideas,VMK might have some Virtual Dreams that come true as well.
Oranges 10-08-2006, 12:22 AM I've only been to the parks once since the "Year of a Million Dreams" began, and I've received a free ice cream cone from Mrs. Potts' Cupboard. Lol, it was interesting, and fun!

mumbo 10-08-2006, 12:49 AM im not going til april 2007 so i hope they will still have dreams for me lol
p.s. 175 posts!!!
alicerose 10-08-2006, 06:59 AM some of the dreams that dland is doing is the ones all the parks are doing. like the dreams ears that u can only get from the dream squad, the golden fast pass that will get u on all the rides that have a fast pass in both dland and dca, a dream layarad with two pins on and other stuff. one of dland major dreams is one family will get to be the grand mashell of not only both of dland and dca prades but every single disney parks parade, and be one of the first people to sleep in the new mickey's penthouse that is in the dland hotel.
some of the other things that we are doing is the high school musical peprally that is going to be some what like the block party. it will stop and the people will perform but the float is not as cool as any of the block party stuff. then of course we have the submarines coming back with nemo. and some other stuff coming from feb till april i think. also the jedi training acemey is open and the princess fanfair is open too.
drama_girl 10-08-2006, 04:58 PM We are going to WDW in a week. I really hope we get the FastPass things. Or the Pixie Pin Pack
Tris-Remix 10-21-2006, 12:06 PM i think the Year of Dreams Rock! Because my dreams came true, going to WDW! :h-biggrin
gone_batty 10-28-2006, 01:53 PM My husband and I got the fast passes, but we were on our way out of the park when we got them, so I gave them to some very sweet newly-weds who really appreciated them. I really enjoyed talking to the dream team, that was a fun experience in itself.

disnyfreek 10-31-2006, 05:54 PM I didn't realize it was that detailed of a celebration! All of you got "dreams". That's pretty cool. I can't wait to go in the spring.
Dizznygrl 10-31-2006, 07:02 PM Last Saturday I was at Epcot for the Food and **** Festival. My Prince and I went inside American Adventure a few minutes before the Voices of Liberty began their show. A cast member approached us and said we were being chosen as the First Family. We were escorted to the second floor and sat in special seats to watch the Voices perform. Then we were escorted into the movie before the crowd was allowed in and got to choose our seats. Before the show started, a cast memeber introduced us and said our names, welcoming us "All the way from Tampa!" as the First Family. They gave us a certificate. It was pretty cool!
WisePrncessSophie 10-31-2006, 07:50 PM My prince and I just returned from WDW last Wednesday. I was celebrating my birthday on my trip, so I received some cute free things (like free desserts; birthday songs from CMs, park characters, on buses etc.; a card signed by all of the princesses; princess balloons in my room; a lovely 8x10 picture of Cinderella in front of the castle that was signed in silver by her.)
For the Year of a Million Dreams, we won Dream Fastpasses in Animal Kingdom when we were in the pre-show room for the Dinosaur ride (It was right where they show the video with Mrs. Huxtable.) ;) A woman hurried by us through the room right before they gave out the "Dream." The entire room of 25 or so people won.
This Dream Fastpass was valid for one day, and it allowed us to cut to the front of every ride in the Animal Kingdom park one time... so we went on Everest multiple times (since we had come to the park early, and we got a regular fastpass for it eariler!), the Kilimanjaro Safari and Primeval Whirl. The other things didn't really have lines, so we didn't use a fastpass. We gave our Dream Fastpasses to a friend who was in AK that same day, so she and her mom could go on the other attractions we didn't use.
We also won a few cast member lanyard pins from a couple cast members, which was a nice addition to our current lanyards.
Try to remember people's names (and the time/place) if you win something, or even if a cast member does something nice for you. (It could be a waitress, a host, a bus driver, a janitor, ANYONE who works for the Mouse that did something special for you!)
I went to Guest Relations to officially thank these CMs for making my trip so magical. I do this every time I visit WDW, and since it's an internal document, the testimonials help to promote those CMs who've done a really great job. It's worth the 5-10 minutes it takes to do it. These CMs help keep Disney being... Disney!

sunnyskye 10-31-2006, 07:54 PM Aww how sweet! I don't remember any 'dream' that happened, but I did get to visit with one of my good friends from school at WDW! We rode Everest, then we met up at Blizzard Beach another day! That is better than getting a free pin!

Where did you get this information about Vacation Club Members? I'm pretty sure we have the same chance as everyone else to get the prizes.

Michael Eisner actually stepped down from being C.E.O. and a board member back on September 30th, 2005. You can see this information on wikipedia under the section "The Save Disney War and Michael Eisner's Ouster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Eisner)". Bog Iger has actually taken over the helm.
On a seperate note, "The Year of a Miillion Dreams" sweepstakes runs from October 1, 2006 - December 31, 2007....So anybody heading here next year don't worry the celebration will still be happening. The celebration is pretty much open to everybody attending the following parks below, but also open to recipients who submit mail-in entries:
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Epcot
Magic Kingdom Park
Disney-MGM Studios
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
Downtown Disney area in Orlando
Disney's California Adventure Park
DisneylandŽ Park
Downtown Disney area in Anaheim

n_aweofhim 11-19-2006, 01:50 PM We're goin to WDW in Dec. Is there any way to "increase" your chances of getting a wish...like being in a certain place at a certain time, or noticing where they "prize" team is...are they dressed differently, wear badges?? anything to increase my chances of getting something from WDW.
abbycatkid 11-19-2006, 01:54 PM Has anyone seen the commercial for it?

There's really no good way, and following them doesn't help (I tried. :() They're dressed in navy pants and lighter blue shirts and have messenger bags full of goodies. (pants color might be wrong...)
Has anyone seen the commercial for it?
I saw the commercial several times. Makes me sad I didn't win anything but at the same time, I'm happy for whoever DID get a prize since I didn't. ;) I had a great enough time at the park without it!
Yea..we all have the same chance. How would you know all those statistics and which prize is 'the big prize'?
There are several big prizes. One is a 54 (or something) year membership to the Disney Vacation Club (it ends on a round year like 2060 or something). One is a night's stay at Cinderella's castle (that won't be handed out until January-one per day I believe), and another is a world-wide trip to every Disney park in 11 days. It's just enough time to hit each park once and fly to the next one-sounds exhausting! At DLR, there's no stay in the castle, but you CAN stay above the firehouse right next to the town hall (or is it city hall? whatever). Another big prize is a trip on the Disney Cruiseline. :)
Other prizes include the dream ears, a pin lanyard with TWO special edition pins (one to keep, one to trade and make another's dreams come true!), free fastpass for the day anywhere, one free fastpass to one ride, grand marshall in the daily parade, VIP seats at various attractions and shows, and several other things.
I looked into it a LOT when I was preparing to go to DLR. It's so much fun to see all the cool ears and lanyards...and those neat fastpasses! :)
