To Help Save VMK


My fellow programs, we all know that VMK faces a crisis. Programs in every room are doing things they shouldn't. That is why Disney has asked me to help bring order to VMK, and I am asking you for help. I need more guards to help me enforce the VMK Rules and Values. If you want to be a guard, come take the test. At the MCP Memory Quest you will go through several rooms. After each room, I will ask you some questions to see what you remember. The best of the best will join my forces as we work together to save VMK.

So... Join us at the MCP Memory Quest for a quest that will send you through rooms and quiz you on what you see. It will test your memory (but NOT your magic, trivia, or mini-game skills) and tell the story of good against evil. And you might end up helping to save VMK, too!

I look forward to it! It is running all day today, so if you (or anyone) can get to the VMKF River Network or the VMKF teleporter network, you can get to the quest and play.

(And if it doesn't bomb out too badly, I'll be opening it (and changing the questions) as often as I can.)

The quest is really fun and very well done, at least until the point I quitted, since I had to go and do something else and couldn't handle both at the same time. So I'll probably try to finish it later. However, the quest is amazing :)

Which teleporter? If people block the porters, you should always be able to get into the room anyway.

I don't think that's the quest. I think it may be because VMK was running so slowly this morning.

I love this quest. My only complaint - and it's a small one - is that I kept getting timed out and would have to back up. That's why I couldn't finish it. I had to log out of VMK for a while and do something. I'll go back later and try it again.

I love that it's a quest which makes you think but doesn't require you to know some minute trivia from a movie you've never seen, NOR does it make you play any games.

At least for me, the case is not that the quest was boring or anything close to that; my problem is anxiety. I can't help trying to get past all the quest pages fast, and sometimes I commit mistakes, and when I commit mistakes, I become too lazy to get back and retry them and often find another distraction while attempting to concentrate (xD). But, anyhow, I know the difference between a good, well planned and thought quest and one that just doesn't attract me, and I am glad to say I was really attracted to yours.

I had some difficulties in the Splash Mountain Bayou part of the quest, since I was hurrying up and memorizing stuff is not a matter of being fast, but being patient, so while I tried to get back on my mistakes, I felt hungry and went for something to eat. I'm thinking of dropping by in a few to complete it.

It is a Really great quest. I'm love memory things that aren't insane, but not overly simple, and this really falls in the right level for me. Great Job.

It might be that I need to tune the timeouts a bit. I didn't want to leave them without any timeout at all, because that would make it a little too easy, I thought. Instead, it seems I've made it a little too frustrating.

That was my goal when I came up with it. I thought there had to be something that would both be a good solid challenge, but be a different kind of challenge than offered through quests before.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. :) Make everything with a story in mind. I've wanted to try and actually tell a story in VMK, and I think this lets me do it in a whole new way.

As I noted above, this is me trying to strike a balance. You need to go through it fast, but you also need to remember. And I try to push you through as fast as I can. :) So I try to mix easy things (talking to the MCP and Tron) with the questions so you get a little break, but I still keep your interest.

At least, thats the theory.

As I said, thats part of the balance with the quest, and perhaps it needs some tuning. You need to take your time to remember the rooms, but I'm trying to push you through as well. But I don't want to push too hard, or you'll give up.

As long as I have ideas, I'll keep making things. :) Considering how many I have that I haven't built yet - that will still be some time.


On another note - this is my 2000th official post. I still remember back at post 400, and I'd like to thank everyone here at VMKF and everyone in VMK for engaging conversations and great times. I look forward to many many more.

I think my ranking was 7, which came as a huge surprise to me since I thought I did horribly! :D I really loved your quest but I thought one of the final tasks was a bit too obscure, IMHO.

On the first day I believe I got 13th second day I got 4th. I had trouble the first day with the 36th question but this time I remembered where to look for the answer. On the first day I remember having trouble with missing a question then having to make my way back to the mcp questions where you have to get the atoms on the slide and running out of time before getting it. There was a time where I went back from like 30 back to question 17 I think it was. :wave2: :reporter: and thats my report...lol

I'm not sure how much of a "winner" it is. People are getting stuck in places I really didn't expect, and which weren't meant to be a challenge.

I suspect most people quit, so most people who complete actually win something. :)

Yeah, question 36 is a little tricky, but the answer is given earlier. And yeah, sometimes you're forced to go backwards. Did you feel the timing was too short for you?

Well, I'm open now, although I may end up walking away from it and get timed out. And I'll try to be open at various times of the day. So if you take some time away from pirates, I hope you come by to play. :)

I think it may have been #36*. I guess you made reference to it earler in the quest, but I have no recollection of it! (But hey, it IS a memory quest, so I guess that's MY problem ;))

I must admit that it was tempting to quit, but I'm glad I held out! I enjoy a challenging quest. I'm looking forward to your next endeavor!

Yesterday's run was dissapointing - only 7 people finished it. Today's is even worse so far - nobody has yet completed it. Most people continue to get stuck on question #36 and eventually give up.

Ok, it has been over a week since I last opened it. I made some changes that I hope will make it a little easier. Nothing I can do to say what the emotes are, but hopefully my reminders to people to read and write things down will help.

Anyway... I'm open now. :)

I also plan to be open for several hours this afternoon/evening. Starting at about 5:30 WDW time, 2:30 DL time I'll be on for a few hours. So come by, play the quest, and then come back and hang out with me as we try to keep the room on the popular list. :D

Tell you what... I'll even give out prizes just for hanging out in my room! The MCP is very generous - isn't he?

I am interested in doing this, I have seen quite a bit as well and feel that it would be a shame not to continue VMK due to a few not going by the rules. I have encouraged quite a few parents to get interested in VMK since it is one of the best, and safest places for the children to develop skills, learn how to befriend others as well as learning how to share.

I want to go there when does it open again?

I ran the quest a couple of times at the beginning of November, but it still seems way to difficult for people, and just isn't fun. Still - I've learned a lot, and have some ideas I may try out in a future quest if I come up with a good new theme.

There have been some problems with this quest, and its just too frustrating to have almost nobody actually finish. And since we're so far from Tron month, I suspect nobody is really interested anymore. So don't expect to see the quest again in this form for a while.

Most of the rooms I've ever made are linked through "Priz.Knee.Land", which is connected to the Fan Site Teleport Network and the Fan Site River Ride. So it is possible someone wandered into the Sub Races.

I'm not sure what you mean by "some posts I can reply while on others I cant", but you may wish to ask your question in the Site Feedback section, since I'm not sure its about the game.

While I may open it again someday - and I've kept everything in place in case I do, don't bet on it opening again any time soon. It is just too difficult and too frustrating.

But I assure you that I have new projects in the works - and I hope you come and visit them when they're ready!

Thank you. I hope the people who played it had fun, but very few people seemed to play it and even fewer finished it, so it wasn't much of a success.

But I've learned a few things from it - and hopefully my next quests will be better. :)
