View Full Version : Applying for a staff on VMK Thenishall 09-25-2006, 12:54 AM Title says it all, does anyone know where you go to apply for a job being a VMK Staff? Thanks in advance! :) Exoxus 09-25-2006, 12:57 AM Sorry Shall, VMK Staff are real professionals, probably work for Disney. I dont think there is a way. @_@ Waterelement 09-25-2006, 12:58 AM well, Im pretty sure you have to have gone to College, and done some Tech. stuff. You can apply for a job at disney, but I highley doubt they will give it to anyone younger than 24, or someone having no expirience working for Disney. Disney, is rarely open for new workers. Anyways, best of luck! -Water Thenishall 09-25-2006, 12:58 AM I know staff are people that have a resume and have graduated from college, but does anyone know where you go to apply for a job as one? Waterelement 09-25-2006, 01:00 AM Disney Studios :D Thenishall 09-25-2006, 01:00 AM And where is that exactly? TravisSch 09-25-2006, 01:00 AM I've tried (because I'm old enough and able to get a job). I emailed through Contact Us and they said they don't have any open positions. Also, if they had any open positions, you would probably have to apply through Sulake. Moderators work for Sulake. Testers (like Yavn) work for Disney, I think! Hope that helps! "old enough" for a job (16) isn't old enough to work for VMK. You must: have a college degree in computer science (at least for testing) be over 18 have broadband internet access at your home Staffers with VMK or HOST in front of their name work out of their home. QA staffers also do, but they must go to DLR or WDW once a week to do work there (it has to do with the quest cards ^_^). This isn't a summer job or like working at McDonald's or Retail. Think of it as a career, like being a teacher, an engineer, or a system administrator. That being said, I honestly don't know where you'd apply. I've looked at Sulake before but they only post jobs for Habbo. I know for a fact they were looking for a staffer at one point but it was never posted at Sulake's site...so that's a dead end. Deeda 09-25-2006, 01:17 AM My brother could probably do it. He's WAY over eighteen, and he's like a walking computer himself. But his wife is telling people not to go on VMK (even though she introduced me to it....Ah, good times, good times...) because of some NASTY stuff she's seen on it. But it would be awesome to have a brother who is a staffer. The only problem is, they don't really have any jobs open. But I bet he could do a better job getting rid of some of the bad stuff, better than they have been. dolphindreamer 09-25-2006, 01:18 AM they are right, probably have to work for disney or go through lots of stuff in goodness know where. But you cannot just apply like youdo for a community leader. BlueJalepeno 09-25-2006, 03:12 AM My dad is a tech. professional. He was at a convention, and he got a job offer from disney. Idk if it was vmk or toon town, but it was one or the other. anyway he denied it, bc he's confortable with the job he has. I got so mad at him. But it is possible to be working for dis tech. you just gotta be really really good with that kinda computer stuff and i mean really good, and you gotsta have a good education wenyeva 09-25-2006, 03:25 AM I saw an interesting job on Disney's site a few weeks ago (applications are closed now, so it's gone) that appeared to be VMK-related, though they didn't actually say VMK... one of the job responsibilities was designing and creating in-game items. Actually the job suited my resume pretty well, but it required someone who could work in CA. (And also travel regularly to both DL and WDW, for some reason.) I was really bummed that it was a CA job instead of a certain other Disney location that is much closer to where I live. Schmoofy 09-25-2006, 03:32 AM Very simple answer - you don't. tctc 09-26-2006, 08:10 AM Start here: http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/index.html Good Luck! :tink: targ 09-30-2006, 03:21 AM "old enough" for a job (16) isn't old enough to work for VMK. It is not the same for all if my memory serves me correctly. :) targ 09-30-2006, 03:38 AM oh ok that what it is for florida KrazyLuke 09-30-2006, 03:50 AM "old enough" for a job (16) isn't old enough to work for VMK. Didn't yavn already clear things and say that Staff do not work from home? I thought he corrected people not too long ago. From my knowledge and soruces they work in a building like an office. There is no way they have that much power that staff do and work at home. From what I think. I would trust the producer before other soruces. soccerkidtlk 09-30-2006, 04:01 AM sorry to argue with you but i am 14 and i work for busch gardens so legally 14 is the working age dont mean to be rude at all but thats the truth No the LEGAL age is really 16 you can work at different ages with parental consent. I've tried and thats what i've been told by people so i'm just waiting till i'm 16. targ 09-30-2006, 04:02 AM i said i work for busch gardens they have no affiliation with vmk or WDW Chaelle 09-30-2006, 04:03 AM Depends on the state. It is not the same for all if my memory serves me correctly. :) It also depends on the type of park. ~Chaelle wenyeva 09-30-2006, 12:40 PM And (at least in some states) the type of job. For example, I had a paper route at 12, and that was a legal job for a 12 year old. But I wasn't allowed to work in a fast food place at 12. When I was 15 I got a job at a skating rink and it actually was not legal to work that particular job at 15, but they didn't check my age. And even at 16, there were limitations on the hours I could work, because of my age and the fact that I was still in school. So there are a lot of things that enter in to it. Your location, the type of job, the hours you need to work, etc. I can't imagine that Disney would hire anyone for VMK staff who was underage, for those reasons among quite a few others I can think of. But I don't work for Disney and I don't have direct knowledge of their policies. jeremyv 09-30-2006, 01:04 PM According to VMK_Red: "Staff isn't a position that can be applied for." "We can't say how Staff are selected." I strongly agree with GBShort's. Post #8 says it all. Thenishall 09-30-2006, 01:06 PM Wow, this thread is still going. Anyway, Jeremyv, If you can't apply for a job as a staff, then, well, how do you even get the Job? jeremyv 09-30-2006, 01:16 PM Who knows? There is most likely a process to the position. For example, you could currently work for Disney and find an internal posting, or be asked if you'd like to change positions, etc. The possibilities are endless. Tris-Remix 09-30-2006, 01:23 PM Maybe staff are friends with Yavn, so that's how there picked. Oh and staff work at home, but they go to the parks everyweek or something like that. targ 09-30-2006, 01:31 PM actually my idea was to work somewhere else but my dad said WDW would be more impressed with my resume' if i worked at another theme park before Hubs 09-30-2006, 02:02 PM Title says it all, does anyone know where you go to apply for a job being a VMK Staff? Thanks in advance! :) I believe it was HOST_Hula who told me there is no possible way to apply to be a VMK Staff Member. Wow, this thread is still going. Anyway, Jeremyv, If you can't apply for a job as a staff, then, well, how do you even get the Job? I think as of right now, You cant. You dont have to apply to get every job \-_-/ targ 09-30-2006, 02:12 PM yea your picked from the best and nicest disney cast members or that what the ppl in vmk central said |
