Looks more like a commemorative coin, I am guessing part of a "Presidents" series.

EDIT: I did a quick search and found this on a famous auction site that I won't name :)

UP FOR AUCTION IS A BRASS PRESIDENTIAL COIN/TOKEN OF JAMES BUCHANAN 15TH PRESIDENT 1857-1861 U.S.A. IS ON THE FRONT WITH HIS PICTURE.

ON THE BACK IS:

"OLD BUCK" PRIVATE WAR OF 1812 IN CONGRESS U.S. SENATE SEC. OF STATE MIN. TO ENG. TRIED TO AVERT CIVIL WAR BUT BELIEVED IN STATE RIGHTS. "OLD PUBLIC FUNCTIONARY."

MY NEIGHBOR STARTED WORK AT THE MASONIC TEMPLE, IN 1960, AND THEY RECEIVED THESE COINS/TOKENS.

SHE THINKS SHE RECEIVED THIS IN LATE 60'S OR EARLY 70'S, AND THE BOX THEY WERE SHIPPED IN COMFIRMS. IT WAS POSTMARKED 1970 FROM A JEWELER IN COLUMBUS, OHIO TO THE MASONIC TEMPLE IN SPRINGFIELD, OHIO.
They are selling for 99cents on this auction site :)

That is the starting bid. If someone really wanted it then who knows how much they would be willing to pay. Maybe even $10,000 ;)

I seriously doubt that it would fetch that amount, especially with the starting bid at 99cents :)

Put it in your collection and sell it after a few years lol

Yes thats the right idea, if you do that and wait a few years (say, 20? LOL!!)
the price will be up veary high maby even $1,000,000!! (but i doubt it will go up that high...).
