I'm boycotting the 7th book (I might change my mind if it comes out and is actually a decent size). She made her money and doesn't seem to care about the story any more.
What I loved about the books aside from their multiple story veins and her ability to put in tiny seemingly insignificant details throughtout the book that you forgot about until then end when all was revealed and nothing was what you thought it was going to be and you can go "Ooooh-ho-ho! That's clever!" when it all comes full circle and had a purpous...*breath* ...was that it was at least a week's worth of reading material.
Now, she's not concerned with story line as a whole. She throws in random things that don't make sense just to have a bit of side story which end up ruining the over-all story, which is weak at best. She is even threatening to end the book in a certain way for "shock value" and to protect her own control over the characters for all time. And she's taken about 1/5th the time to write the story out. Where you used to get an entire paragraph setting up one single moment, now you get a one liner: "harry decided he loved playing quidditch". She's gone lazy, or thinned out her books to the point of ruin on behalf of the whinners who don't like reading a "thick" book.

hehe I am looking forward to the movie, though. Although I don't have much high expectations for that either.

oh yes, i heard about the book's "shocking ending" i'm sure she is just bluffing. she cant do that to a main character. she probably wants more ppl to buy the book, thinking of that. ad i agree, she has become a bit of a sell-out.

And I wouldn't even mind her doing that (I was sad about my fav character in the 5th book but it made for good story so I admired her for it) if it were for the sake of the story. Some grand planned finale. But when she publicly announces such an unrelated and unthought out reason...I just lost all respect for her as a writer.

well, i used to think of her like that, as a sell-out, that she no longer even wrote her stories (i thought she made the main pat of the story, and she paid ppl to do the rest) but the sixth book rekindled me thoughs about her. i noticed that she is still a good writer. but.. she has become a bit of a sell-out. i mean, the beans, that made me mad. who would want to eat those jelly-beans?! argg!!

If you were as obsessed as I am, you'd know that she's not cutting it short for lazy readers.

I've heard her say many, many times that it seems that it'll be as long as OOTP.

I don't believe JK is a sell out. I've been a fan of HP since I was in 2nd grade...and I always will be.

It took her less time to write it because she knew how it would end when she started the series. She even said the first thing she wrote was the last chapter.
