View Full Version : VMK Trading problem
Neoteny 09-22-2006, 05:57 AM Ok, I'm not sure, but I think this is a problem with my computer.
Whenever I'm in a trade on VMK, everything slows down significantly. It sometimes takes minutes for me to add an item to the trade, and often the person with whom I'm trading just gives up and leaves.
Sometimes I reach the end of the trade, but every time I click to confirm, instead of confirming the trade, the confirm window just blinks and sits there.
Everything else in VMK works fine for me. I have no problems chatting or playing mini-games or anything else. Just with trading.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Does anybody have any idea how I can fix it?
It's very annoying for me, and even moreso for the people trying to trade with me.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
browneyedgal 09-22-2006, 06:24 AM Mine does the same thing. Here are some other issues I am having lol ;):
1.) When I first log on to vmk and after I click on either my friends list or a room I would like to go to, the game always freezes for about 30 seconds, and then everything is back to normal.
2.) It takes me about 10 seconds for the room I am entering to load.
3.) During the HM game, the round will begin and I am still not able to move for about 30 seconds, thus giving the other team a head start.
4.) If I play level 2 or 3 of pirates (sometimes even level 1), I receive the pop-up type message saying that vmk has crashed.
5.) Quite often when I go to click on an NPC to get my daily credits, I will not receive any credits even if I haven't visited that particular NPC in 2 days.
Ok sorry that kinda turned into a rant lol ;) Also, I need to look into getting a new computer lol.....

I don't have any of those problems. Rooms and games load and play perfectly. The only time I have a problem is when trading.
Somebody, please help!
aengus 09-22-2006, 11:59 AM Neoteny I have this issue also. My problem is that I carry to many items LOL
I have been trying to put things down as often as I can. I see a little improvement each time i put a roomful down. I bet its the same thing you are experiencing
At first it was so bad I could barely trade!!
Alienboy 09-22-2006, 08:11 PM Yeah I have that too...I think what aengus said about putting stuff in rooms will help but other than that, its just something VMK might have to look into its not your computer tho, its the game

At first it was so bad I could barely trade!! Yes, that's my solution to this problem exactly. Basically, I only carry the extreme rares with me furniture and poster wise, because the rest can easily be set down in a room - room renamed to "rares" - then sold back at any time, if I need those items. The reason my inventory takes long to load, is my pin collection. We really need a way to take pins out like furniture.
PaperClip 09-22-2006, 09:25 PM It might just be the room that you are in. A lot of times, if there is a quest kiosk, dancing, magic, or converstion going on, you are probably going to have to deal with it slower.
ASuperStitch 09-22-2006, 09:28 PM Thanks Schmoofy for the insight. I also am having the same problem in-trade. I used to keep my things in rooms for storage but when VMK made the beautiful alphabetized stuff catalog I quit doing that. I have noticed a consistent slow down when trading. I will try taking some stuff an putting it into rooms and see if that changes it.
Thanks again Schmoofy.

Alienboy 09-22-2006, 09:50 PM I like Schmoofy's idea for taking pins out...we could have a pin book like a photo album... But really from what you are sayng neoteny the problem is probally the amount you have in your inventory.
Neoteny 09-23-2006, 12:12 AM I tried putting almost all my furniture and posters in guest rooms, but I guess I just have so many pins and so much clothing that it didn't make much difference. :(
If the problem is with VMK and not with my computer, then this is a very important problem for them to fix. Do they know about it?
I've used up my "Ask Yavn" quota for this week. Maybe someone else could submit it?
GoofyGeggy 09-23-2006, 12:40 AM I put my extra pins on my older character (Geggy) since I now use an in-park character (GoofyGeggy). That and putting all of the furniture in my rooms quickened things up a LOT.

well, for the hm game, that just means your are on the arrow keys, so just hit the arow key, then click the mouse around, it should work.. also, my rooms sometimes take a while to load, and by the time i get theer, my friends gone!
and last but not least, vmk is slow for the first 30 sec because its just starting up and everything has to load and stuff

Using another character: That's a good idea! I think I'll do that.
Of course, a better idea would be for VMK to fix the problem on their end, especially as more players are going to be collecting more items all the time.

Well, you probably should try playing vmk, on your account, on a different computer.. If the same thing happens, then it's probably an issue with vmk. But, if it doesn't happen, then your computer might have some problems.. :Embar:

Yes, the pins are killing me.

Try using a mule character for that.

Yet another use for multiple accounts.
Yavn, don't take away our mules!
(At least, not until after you've fixed this slow trading problem.)
