How do I uninstall Internet Explorer 7? ever since I downloaded it, my connection has been very unstable. I want to unistall it but it won't let me.

I went online and used the Unistall Toolkit. I got an error message that said "Microsoft cannot uninstall IE 7 on this user account. Please log into the user account you installed it on."

There's only one user account on this computer. :o

A couple questions. Have you upgraded to IE7 RC1 or is it still the beta version? IE is integrated with Windows XP, so you won't be able to completely uninstall it. Did you try another browser like Firefox?

Browsers don't have virii. They come from unstable files and things that a browser may open up, but you're much more likely to get a virus from downloading from a P2P file network or from an unsafe IRC network.

I'm sure you're thinking of spy/grey/maleware which are just annoying but they are not virii.

Jeremyv I did not understand your second post.

I hate Firefox personally.

I am using IE7 RC1. I am running on Windows. All I want to do is degrade to IE6 SP1. Have I tried using Firefox for what? I have Netscape, but I like IE better.

For me, P2P has no viruses, it matters what i download.

Firefox is Mozilla based just like Netscape, so even if you opened it just to run VMK you really shouldn't have an issue. I think if you want to rollback to IE6 you'd need to be logged in as the Administrator and not your own account? I know you said you only have one account, but by default there is also an Administrator account which has full control over certain programs/hardware being added or removed.

Exactly my point. I said you're more likely to get a virus from P2P than from downloading in a browser.

Ok. So when running XP and I click the name to log into all it says it one name, so how do I log onto the administrator?

Tried that. Ie does not appear on that list. ;)

Would doing a System Restore back to before you downloaded IE7 get rid if it for you?

Nope. System Restore I've done before, all it did was mess up my connection and my graphics sytem. It keeps all the programs anyhow.

Look for the folder under your Program Files folder. Sometimes there is an uninstall feature here.

Just go to the Add and Remove Programs list in your Control Panel. Then click on the box next to "Show Updates." Then if you scroll down you should see "Windows XP Software Updates." (Or something like that) Right under that, there should be Internet Explorer 7 RC1.

Usually that is to re-install it. But NEVER delete a file or folder out of there.

I've recently migrated to RC1 as well, but even with the Show Updates feature on, IE7 remains to be on its own still.

If your system doesn't show an update/patch you could remove to roll back, you could try reinstalling IE7 and see if that fixes the problem. I did send the question in and I got the same response as in the Help File, lol. Add/Remove programs or reinstall ;)

I reinstall it to uninstall it? I'll experiment later. On Add/Remove Programs on the right there it says Add/Remove Windows Components. IE is on the list but I'm afraid to mess with it.

Good luck! After installing IE7, my computer has been totally different...and not in a good way. I've tried reinstalling Windows a couple of times, but I can't seem to purge IE7 totally from my system. I feel your pain, really!!!

Ug. I've had to reinstall Windows already.. not fun I tell you, not fun. I like IE7 a whole lot better than v. 6 but it messed up my computer.

Ok. I haven't gone to RC1, after reading your bug reports, that was just the way that you could un-install IE 7 Beta 3.
