Microsoft is doing away with support for Windows XP Service Pack 1, on October 10, 2006. Those of you that are still using Service Pack 1 are advised to upgrade to SP2, ASAP. If you were wondering, SP2 is free, just click here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx).

Any computer that is on Windows XP SP1, will have to be upgraded by October 10, 2006. An easy way to look at what service pack you have, is to restart the computer and read what comes up BELOW "Windows XP." If all you get is Windows XP and a blue bar, you are on SP2, if you get, for instance, Windows XP Home Edition and a blue bar, you are advised to upgrade ASAP.

Yup. One way to check is to go to the Start Menu --> RIhgt Click My Computer --> Properties --> Look below Windows XP.
