Here is a list of browsers known to run VMK without problems. Please note you will require to have installed Shockwave & Flash components if not already installed.

Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx (Win)
Netscape Navigator: http://browser.netscape.com (Win/MAC)
Mozilla Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/ (Win/MAC)
Opera: http://www.opera.com/ (Win/MAC)
Avant: http://www.avantbrowser.com/ (Win)
Safari: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/safari/ (MAC)

Some browsers work better depending on your situation; this is to help you decide which is best for you.

Memory Usage Stats Average while VMK is open (Open->Peak):

IE7: 48Mb -> 360Mb
Netscape 8: 42Mb -> 400Mb
Firefox 1.5.0.6: 43Mb -> 460Mb
Avant 10.2: 46Mb -> 400Mb
Opera 9.0: 50Mb -> 430Mb

** These are average memory usages, the peaks are results from an intensive process on VMK like opening the Quest Kiosk with others doing the same.

I thought this may help, but please keep in mind this is what works best for my system setup, so you might find a browser that works better for your situation.

PM'd question: Which browser do you use most and recommend?

The majority of the time I was using Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 but when I upgraded to the new version, RC1, I started having issues with the backspace key. It seems its also an IE hotkey for visiting the previous page, causing me to go back to the login page for each visit. Instead of rolling back to a previous version, I've found Mozilla FireFox to work the best with my setup as an alternative.

That is what happened to me too. I have rolled back to IE7 Beta 3. And as a secondary, I use SBC Yahoo Browser.

There Is a New Browser that Is AOL connection, mixed with Internet Explorer. Produced by AOL, it gives you the speed of AOL Internet, without having to buy AOL - Completely free. I will try to find a link, hope I can.

That is out, but I use it (rarely) and you have problems with VMK on it. For instance the game, not the window, being moved into a corner with no scroll bars.

I use Avant, it blocks all the pop-ups, but IE does not. My mom uses Fire Fox.

Netscape looks SO COOL. I'm downloading it right now! Thanks jeremyv!

Np ;) Another helpful piece of info is that Mozilla based browsers (ie FireFox/Netscape) deal with pop-up windows in a different way than IE does. If you turn the filter off in IE you'll notice just how many the Mozilla already blocks by default.

Ok, now i have a problem with netscape: when i click the netscape icon, it won't open! I already rebooted my computer, is there something i'm missing?

EDIT: OK, i found out that the installer isn't working :(. But an internet browser for DS?!?! AWESOME!

Try uninstalling Netscape then reinstalling it.

The installer itself? Delete the file and try downloading it again. This time, pick "Open/Run" instead of saving it to disk. Once the download finishes, it should automatically start the installation process by selecting that option.

Note: IE7 is officially out! There are no more beta's or RC's. If you are wondering, I am trying to plaster this everywhere, about IE7.

Hmm, technically that would be considered spamming. :)

There is one thing that has changed. In the new FireFox, VMK has a lot of problems. There are so many of them that I couldn't list them.

There is no need to add IE7 since nothing changed. The memory usage is the same, and the link is the same.

Well Apple now makes Safari 3 for Windows. You can find it on the apple site.
I also HIGHLY recommend Safari 3 because its faster than all the browsers INCLUDING FireFox and FireFox's Beta.

Look at the date that I posted that. Since Safari has come out for Windows, that's what I've been using. For my connection at home, that is. Firefox is faster on one of the other connections that I am on a lot ;)
